I really like the new cyberspace stages. Sonic Team seems to be implementing more momentum into them, like they actually expect you to use your spindash, but it isn't required. It's so cool, and I like all the weird ideas they implemented, like the car engine rev up or moon gravity.
YEAH, it felt like they got a lot more creative with these cyberspaces. only found it kinda annoying to find animals and stuff in some stages but generally i liked them

yeah! I enjoied the difficulty spike for sure! I think the problem is theres a lot of super causal gamers that play sonic so they were pretty taken aback by how hard it was. But as someone whos played it more than most should??? it was dope
For snake trial, the most efficient way to do it is to bait the attack from the umbrella shield bots, jump over it and wail on them, parrying the disc every time it comes back, making it do a full circle back. Gives the most amount of time to attack the enemy.
ye ive been doing that, and theres also some new strat where you can get hit out of power boost, then you cyloop him and mash slide+boost. sometimes you can get the shield to stay up until you beat him but we havent made it consistent yet
What I ended up doing was doing the early game standard attack - normal stomp combo. Worked pretty well, and minimized the times I needed to parry. I just need to cyloop once with the perfect combo.

It feels like for the first time in so, so long, I felt the feeling of amazement that got me into the series in the first place. After years of mediocrity, they made a risky play. To indulge in utter Anime hype. And the result of fans vocally loving it was this amazing finale. ... ...Out of all the codewords you could've chosen, you chose Fortnite?

I had a hard time holding back tears on stream but if i was offline i would have been crying my eyes out in happiness
I think the ending was just too cool, I mean the way that sonic destroys the end and falls back... also sage is still alive which is great. Also I can't really imagine how much effort emeraldd puts into his game play so thank so much for doing this for us 🎉🎉🎉🎉 Good luck!!!!
New Ending was Sick. And CyberSonic was so Damn hype(can’t wait to see the many upcoming fanart of it). Also I can’t wait for more Eggman and Sage moments together. It’ll be interesting to see how things play out. Metal Sonic now has a lil sister😌(I hope they’ll have wholesome moments together like eggy and her)
@Emerldd same here. Felt that with this game and elden ring. The difficulty makes you think in unique ways and discover uses for in game mechanics that you never knew were there in the first place. (Like how quick cylooping increases your damage like crazy after using it on a titan.)

Surprised you didn't use knuckle's tax evasion technique at all. Also this update probably had the best overworld and cyberspace stages and the finale was insane. I think many sonic fans are super casual and really can't handle any form of challenge honestly given the difficulty backlash its gotten by some. Its really not that bad and there are far harder platformers out there and such and this was a good review in the closing thoughts imo. I actually like knuckles new glide but would probably remove the startup of it and his and amy's homing attack and eveyrone's cyloop outside of sonic has this weird dealy which doesn't feel too great but outside of that i wouldn't change much as i think the characters should all control differently personally.

I dont think the difficulty was THAT bad but again my opinion is super skewed and i awknowledge that! but yeah start up on stuff is super slow and not fun. but at least the characters are satisfying in different ways. looking forward to how they expand on it going forward!
I enjoyed seeing your impressions. Update 3 made history for Sonic Frontiers and the franchise overall. I will not forget the day I saw for the first time that cutscene with Super Sonic Cyber finishing The End once and for all while I'm Here was playing. Also, Fortnite, I guess? lol
I 100% the update. The update was pretty cool for the most part, but MAN were the lows very low. I did a few speedruns of Frontiers back when the game was new (sitting at a 1 : 46 : 51 on version 1.10) and the Master King’s Trial still broke me. None of the trials were fun, for that matter, in my opinion. Very cheap ways of making the combat hard, sometimes not feeling fair, even if it’s plenty doable. I beat Master King’d Trial on Hard eventually on PS5, but I legit only had like 2 rings remaining. I do dig other aspects of the update though. I do think every new character is still inferior to Sonic, but Amy was definitely the surprising highlight, having legitimately fun platforming sections. And I REALLY liked the new Cyber Space levels. Despite them being remixes of older Cyber Space levels, they were far better and way more interesting than any of the base game Cyber Space levels, offering so many different paths and just being massive in scale. Of course the final boss was way better. Was fitting to have Kellin Quinn round off the game with his cover of I’m Here. That and aside from finding out how to cut the healing cord being a little tedious, I thought the final boss was decently fair in terms of being actually difficult the first time around, with a way better use of the Perfect Parry than shoehorning them into the boss rush. I feel mostly positive about the update, but it does sort of concern me for how Sonic Team does difficulty for future games. Now, I really like hard games, I’m all about having a tough but fair challenge, hence why I’m a massive fan of the Dark Souls games, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring, but I don’t think this update does difficulty well. The platforming difficulty was mostly good, but the combat stuff with the trials and overworld bosses were far too much for my liking. I hope for the next game, they learn how to make fun difficulty. I think for now, they should focus on spectacle for bosses, and leaving the hard stuff to the platforming, because I liked the difficult platforming challenges in this update. But ‘das just my silly opinion.
Genuinely surprised how you, a speedrunner didnt use Q. Cyloop for Knight and that you can force them to guard early and skip their attack (thus needing 0 parries outside the shield throw using the second Q. Cyloop or manual) by attacking them a lot as they move (even if its a tad hard). Gg's though and the dlc was a ton of fun. If you're wondering the parry times on Hard and Extreme are .13s and 0.06s respectively.
Quick Cyloop isn’t used in Any% at all. We don’t even unlock it! There’s no need to use quick Cyloop because the fight will happen the same everytime if we do it well. I was just gamin bad in the clip 🤷♂️I genuinely don’t even know if you can quick Cyloop him when his shield is up lmaooo Ty for the ggs, hope you enjoyed the update as well gamer o7
@@Emerldd if you contiously attack Knight as they spin around they raise their shield prematurely so you can get a manual cyloop there. I understand not getting Q. Cyloop though. Its only really useful vs Knight and Giganto if you wanna be overkill in MKT. I have a feeling you might do this in speed runs of the dlc haha. Also fun fact the Q. Cyloop gauge also carries over! So you can strategize with it. How useful that might be idk im not a speedrunner. Also, I recommend Q. Cyloop Wyvern in phase 2 to speed it up unless manual also works.
Definite skill issue for most stuff that people complained about, but that Perfect Parry window is really harsh. I'm thinking that is or near frame perfect on the hard difficulty.
It wasn't a bit rough around the edges, but these were all free updates yeah? We haven't seen Sega cook this hard since Sonic Unleashed and I'm up for it.

yeah im not surprised, it was super rough! For me this was just a solid 6 hour stream but im def an outlier where i almost have 1000 hours in the game LMAO
I've found an easy way to turn your glide around is to let go, then quickly boost in the direction you want to go and press glide again in one swift motion. You have to burn your boost to do it, which kinda sucks, but it's something.
I'm glad that even a player like you who has really practised and studied the game had some trouble here and there. To me, I expected to enjoy it with all of its problems, but ended up hating it. There were some good part that I enjoyed, but by the end of it I was just relieved that it was over. The music, the boss cinematics, the towers (for the most part), and the cyberspace levels were nice, but literally everything else I didn't like at all. All in all, this shows potential, as did Frontiers base game. I'm excited to see what comes next!
yeah i think its pretty obvious that this content was made after the fact so there wasnt a ton of time to work on it. I think its good to try this stuff out a bit now though so they can approach it with a better idea of what theyre doing for another game with more characters! understandable to hate it. I didnt hate it i thought it was pretty neat, but again i didnt have to struggle as bad as others did so i didnt get mad at it at all really
i actually don’t know why i didn’t think to do that before watching this. the tech works because the game puts the titan on idle mode to reward you for parrying his attacks. manually cylooping bosses is janky and unreliable in any other situation. so manualling there gives you 2 free instant cyloops
I couldn't figure what to do with the poles with the ring around them 11:09 and had to shamelessly set the difficulty to easy for the rest of that tower. Then again for the final trial when the parry is now only active for 3-4 frames.
yeah its weird, quick cyloop is what i did but i think you can cyloop on the rail? i dont remember but if you can that would be the other way to do it. Some may say otherwise but i think setting the difficulty lower is fine tbh. do whatever makes you get enjoyment out of the game!
Knuckles' glide was first designed with a commitment to the direction chosen as a key aspect, and they went back to that in this game, in a "think before you start gliding" approach. Which, well, when used to the smooth SA2 glide, it feels off, but I grew up with Spyro, so this feels maneageable lol
yeah i mean this glide is more so how traditional glides in games go, but yeah i feel like SA2 is just where my bias lies because of speedrunning it so much
@@Emerldd Oh, of course, Adventure 2 Knuckles handles like a dream; one of the most agile and mobile characters I've ever seen in a platformer. Never really got the hate ttbt.
i honestly found the difficulty fun, my biggest criticism is that the final boss should've had an actual hint, and that you can't play as the characters outside of Ouranos... but moders will always find a way
i agree with both of these yeah. It felt gimmicky rather than challenging for the end. but yeah i like the difficulty for sure! especially since, as a lot of people said, the base game was super easy
Idk if you discovered it yet but if you go to the Tank guardian near the second tower, you can HSP up to the top of the second tower to skip all the platforming. Did it last night. Same goes for a Master Ninja next to the 4th tower

(Fortnite, Cuz its funny) Was just listening to this while editing some stuff and omg dude im glad im not alone. This update 100% has a difficulty change, but as you said people like speedrunners it feels more like a big playground and more fun to go through. The cyberspace's were fun and so were the towers, characters and the Ending imo is the best ending we have ever had for a sonic game. Loved the video, reactions, commentary and gameplay ^^
I LOVED THIS ENDING SO SO MUCH! Idk if itll be my favorite forever because Sonic Adventure 2 is such a good ending as well. But this has such a good, and complete ending its hard not to like it more. Also thanks for watching all the way through
ok but like. is infinite cyloop boost still a thing? that's all that matters (you did know that cylooping an infinity symbol gives you unlimited boost right?)
Finished this today, and man! I had heard it was hard, but I wasn’t expecting somethings to be THAT hard. Although I still have to say that there’s a lot of people just having a skill issue, even though I did give in and did turn certain things to easy, it was more for personal enjoyment lol. I get that it’s definitely flawed, there’s a bunch of things I’m not a fan of, but I wouldn’t say the expansion was bad at all. Sonic team definitely took it to heart when people said the base game was to easy. Overall, it was really fun and I loved all the expansions to the lore (I’m actually really emotional about how into the rock stack game the ancients were, and even though there’s remains of it, the true enjoyment of it has been lost to time) and I love how the devs explain by there’s pinball lol. 8.5/10 would play it again
Most of the flaws can easily be fixable in the next update patch hopefully. Other than that update 3 looks like it's in the right direction and i am happy for that.
Waiting for the fourth update with fixed challenges, Fixed Coco king trial, platforming and a with a tip to disconnect Supreme from The End and pull out his gun. Because 3rd update is for professionals only
BTW You can skip the scripted sequence of Sonic detransforming and retransforming if you do everything you need to do right away. Knock down The End's cord, lower his health, take down the gun, beat him up again and you're good.
I think its neat that if you dont wanna do those parts you can avoid them! But def thing you should try some of the new cyberspace! they did some creative stuff and the songs SLAP

i figured this out on my first play through but during the snakes trial you can use stomp but not during combos its just a stop but you just stomp them to make it faster
yeah stomp is one of the things we were trying when we first started runs of Final Horizon. Now we do this slide kick thing thats stupid fast LOL gonna be making a Short about it later today I think

I was playing this instead of the og story and it was my first time going to the final island and somehow maybe because i got spindash for knuckles, tails, and amy when it switches you to sonic i got the spindash for him
Dang, this video made me feel terrible at the game. I thought the original was easy, but as for this one...I'm only on the 2nd tower and I probably fell off the 1st one at least 30 times. Got me wondering if I'm getting too old and need to retire from Sonic games..
naaaah you have to remember i speedrun this game and have hundreds of hours in it so. you could be as good as me if you put a dumb amount of time like i have! dont be too discouraged! if it feels too hard, drop the difficulty down to easy! it adds extra stuff on the towers to homing attack and it makes the update a lot easier overtime

IT WAS SO HARD IT JUST WASNT WORKING But i learned to cyloop the reticle rather than the thing the reticle was aiming at, and it started to work just fine
I think the last Update they gave us for frontiers was very mid. The Ending and last boss were definitely my personal highlight of it. The other 3 characters I'm still mixed on, and the challenge is definitely not casual friendly. Also Kellin Quinn doing I'm Here sent me to Heaven and back.

I've found an easy way to turn your glide around is to let go, then quickly boost in the direction you want to go and press glide again in one swift motion.
You have to burn your boost to do it, which kinda sucks, but it's something.
might be worth messin around with! loosing boost is kinda rought though yeah
I'm glad that even a player like you who has really practised and studied the game had some trouble here and there. To me, I expected to enjoy it with all of its problems, but ended up hating it. There were some good part that I enjoyed, but by the end of it I was just relieved that it was over. The music, the boss cinematics, the towers (for the most part), and the cyberspace levels were nice, but literally everything else I didn't like at all.
All in all, this shows potential, as did Frontiers base game. I'm excited to see what comes next!
yeah i think its pretty obvious that this content was made after the fact so there wasnt a ton of time to work on it. I think its good to try this stuff out a bit now though so they can approach it with a better idea of what theyre doing for another game with more characters! understandable to hate it. I didnt hate it i thought it was pretty neat, but again i didnt have to struggle as bad as others did so i didnt get mad at it at all really
Emerldd trying to manually Cyloop the Titans while having a full Quick Cyloop meter is kinda funny to me.

i actually don’t know why i didn’t think to do that before watching this. the tech works because the game puts the titan on idle mode to reward you for parrying his attacks. manually cylooping bosses is janky and unreliable in any other situation. so manualling there gives you 2 free instant cyloops
I couldn't figure what to do with the poles with the ring around them 11:09 and had to shamelessly set the difficulty to easy for the rest of that tower. Then again for the final trial when the parry is now only active for 3-4 frames.
yeah its weird, quick cyloop is what i did but i think you can cyloop on the rail? i dont remember but if you can that would be the other way to do it.
Some may say otherwise but i think setting the difficulty lower is fine tbh. do whatever makes you get enjoyment out of the game!
Knuckles' glide was first designed with a commitment to the direction chosen as a key aspect, and they went back to that in this game, in a "think before you start gliding" approach. Which, well, when used to the smooth SA2 glide, it feels off, but I grew up with Spyro, so this feels maneageable lol
yeah i mean this glide is more so how traditional glides in games go, but yeah i feel like SA2 is just where my bias lies because of speedrunning it so much
@@Emerldd Oh, of course, Adventure 2 Knuckles handles like a dream; one of the most agile and mobile characters I've ever seen in a platformer. Never really got the hate ttbt.
i honestly found the difficulty fun, my biggest criticism is that the final boss should've had an actual hint, and that you can't play as the characters outside of Ouranos... but moders will always find a way
i agree with both of these yeah. It felt gimmicky rather than challenging for the end. but yeah i like the difficulty for sure! especially since, as a lot of people said, the base game was super easy

Idk if you discovered it yet but if you go to the Tank guardian near the second tower, you can HSP up to the top of the second tower to skip all the platforming. Did it last night. Same goes for a Master Ninja next to the 4th tower

(Fortnite, Cuz its funny) Was just listening to this while editing some stuff and omg dude im glad im not alone. This update 100% has a difficulty change, but as you said people like speedrunners it feels more like a big playground and more fun to go through. The cyberspace's were fun and so were the towers, characters and the Ending imo is the best ending we have ever had for a sonic game. Loved the video, reactions, commentary and gameplay ^^
I LOVED THIS ENDING SO SO MUCH! Idk if itll be my favorite forever because Sonic Adventure 2 is such a good ending as well. But this has such a good, and complete ending its hard not to like it more.

Finished this today, and man! I had heard it was hard, but I wasn’t expecting somethings to be THAT hard. Although I still have to say that there’s a lot of people just having a skill issue, even though I did give in and did turn certain things to easy, it was more for personal enjoyment lol. I get that it’s definitely flawed, there’s a bunch of things I’m not a fan of, but I wouldn’t say the expansion was bad at all. Sonic team definitely took it to heart when people said the base game was to easy. Overall, it was really fun and I loved all the expansions to the lore (I’m actually really emotional about how into the rock stack game the ancients were, and even though there’s remains of it, the true enjoyment of it has been lost to time) and I love how the devs explain by there’s pinball lol. 8.5/10 would play it again
Most of the flaws can easily be fixable in the next update patch hopefully. Other than that update 3 looks like it's in the right direction and i am happy for that.
yeah theres a lot of bugs i really hope that they drop a hotfix patch because ive been having a lot of audio issues with the music and stuff

BTW You can skip the scripted sequence of Sonic detransforming and retransforming if you do everything you need to do right away. Knock down The End's cord, lower his health, take down the gun, beat him up again and you're good.

i figured this out on my first play through but during the snakes trial you can use stomp but not during combos its just a stop but you just stomp them to make it faster
yeah stomp is one of the things we were trying when we first started runs of Final Horizon. Now we do this slide kick thing thats stupid fast LOL

Dang, this video made me feel terrible at the game.
I thought the original was easy, but as for this one...I'm only on the 2nd tower and I probably fell off the 1st one at least 30 times. Got me wondering if I'm getting too old and need to retire from Sonic games..
naaaah you have to remember i speedrun this game and have hundreds of hours in it so. you could be as good as me if you put a dumb amount of time like i have!
dont be too discouraged! if it feels too hard, drop the difficulty down to easy! it adds extra stuff on the towers to homing attack and it makes the update a lot easier overtime

I think the last Update they gave us for frontiers was very mid. The Ending and last boss were definitely my personal highlight of it. The other 3 characters I'm still mixed on, and the challenge is definitely not casual friendly. Also Kellin Quinn doing I'm Here sent me to Heaven and back.
