Welcome back to another History Of Episode on Tekken 8!
Seeing as you really enjoyed that Yoshimitsu episode, It only felt right that today we could recap one of the most iconic characters within franchise, and someone who could be seen as the original protagonist before his fall from grace, Kazuya Mishima!
Now the tale of Kazuya mishima Is a very unique one, as once he had a very promising future as a hero to usurp his father, yet In Its aftermath he winded up being something so so much worse, but how did this all come to be? How did Kazuya turn out the way he is?
Well we must actually dial the clock really far back to that of his childhood, to truly get an understanding of his upbringing, as his family life not only impacts Kazuya as a character, but the overall narrative as whole!

Fun fact: in Tekken 1 manual, it was stated that Kazuya's hobby is collecting sneakers.

As a kid, I never understood why Kazuya's primary color was purple until I got older. Purple symbolizes royalty and luxury, it also symbolizes power and ambition which he desperately seeks in the lore.

Kazuya Mishima is the Darth Vader of Tekken
One of the few protagonists whose fall from grace happens before we even meet him. Literally.
Also, I love that in their final battle, Kazuya and Heihachi have different meanings to the phrase "Pushed to their limits". Kazuya's definition is "Let the Devil Gene take over more and more, evolving into more powerful forms". Heihachi's is "More Heihachi".

It's interesting that Kazumi with the devil gene wants to eliminate Heihachi while Jun wants to cleanse Kazuya of the devil gene. Both woman has different goals but chose the same method to achieve it, to get pregnant.

Kazuya Mishima is my number favorite character in the franchise and one of my favorite fictional characters of all time. Ever since I saw him kicking ass in the Tekken 4 intro, he became solidified as my favorite and have been maining him ever since

Kazuya is my favorite character, and the best moveset for him is in Tekken 5!
If you see this, I recommend either Paul Phoenix or Marshall Law for the next video. Law because he's my main and some forget how he ended up how he is today, and Paul because he was Kazuya's original rival and has gone down a strange path.

I just returned to this channel rn. I remember watching your history videos about Tekken back in 2019. I just got into Tekken back then and this channel helped me learn the story and lore of Tekken a lot since the game didnt show much.

We do know that Jun and Kazuya married. Confirmed by Harada. We also know that either angel or jun's influence effected his loss against heihachi
The idea that Jun and Kazuya are a married couple is false based on the fact she would have to take "Mishima" as her new family name and that when Jin is born, he would also have to take his father's family name instead of his mother's. This is clearly seen in the case of Kazumi as she had to take Mishima as her new family name when she married Heihachi, despite being a part of a pre-established clan of assassins known as the "Hachijo-ke" (Hachijo Family). Furthermore, it has been clarified by Harada himself on his Twitter account that the mysterious entity known as "Angel" is not a part of Kazuya's soul and is their own separate character.
@@hectoraliegbe9429It has been retconned! Just like Heihachi beating Kazuya in Tekken 4, just like Kazumi Hichijo having the devil gene, and Jinpachi Mishima at one point having the Devil Gene. Like Kazuya made a deal with Devil. Then Lars! Then Reina! Heihachi don’t want children because he is afraid of coup d'é·tat. Harada and his staff are terrible writers and retcon all of the time!
@hectoraliegbe9429 sorry dude but this was confirmed by harada himself not even that long ago on twitter. And its been stated several times that after they met eachother, kazuya felt off and thus lost the tournament.
@StreetsofATL_19 Harada has never said anything regarding Kazuya and Jun's "marriage" on his Twitter account. That interpretation of their relationship originated from an IGN interview that was held in the beginning of 2023. However, the translation by Michael Murray is suspect as it is in contradiction to Harada's earlier statements on his Twitter account, proclaiming that Kazuya never loved Jun.
I think Jun is still alive but probably disappeared or transformed into a bird she's always seen with a white bird. The creator of tekken himself said she's not dead orger didn't kill her, so I'm curious about how it plays out. I wanna know about her and kazuyas' history during the events of the 2nd tournament

Your T2 take is a little off. The second tournament was announced as a result of Kazuya wishing to elimate an ever increasing tally of enemies he was making. There he met Jun (not before) and their relationship basically weakened Kazuya's resolve enough so that when he faced Heihachi, he was unfocused, distracted, divided and therefore lost to his father.
Also, Kazuya and Lee weren't "raised in the same household". Heihachi didn't even know about Kazuya being alive untill the end of the first Tournament. In the fourth tounament Kazuya defeated Heihachi in the Arena. Heihachi's ending is non-canon.

I highly recommend you watch a video called "Insane lore of Tekken", it's almost 2 hour long and it goes in a lot of detail. It also highlights all absurdities in Tekken lore.

Kazuya Mishima is a well written character unlike his son Jin who loves his mom waaayyy too much, self loathes like a 1990s gothic teenager, and a mass murderer who started WW3 because he believed by causing more pain and suffering in the world he would awaken a great evil to selfishly get rid of his devil gene. That didn’t work. Oops! Kazuya is an honest villain and I love him! Here’s to the real King of Iron Fist, Kaazzuya Mishhhiiimmaa!!

Yaknow I really don't get how kazyua learned the mishima style, I get that he was taught at a young age and was a martial arts genius, but he got thrown off the cliff at like 8 years old or something, and if heihachi suspected kazyua of having the devil gene than idk why he would continue to train him?
17:25 nah, it was the trauma that Heihachi caused him that made him deliver such a destructive punch to Heihachi.
Funny it all started when a guy put his dad in the basement
Heihachi wasnt truly abusive to Kazuya before Devil Kazumi.He didnt despise him at all,he even felt enough pity to not kill him outright even after he saw he survived the cliff and he no longer saw him as human.
Heihachi himself said WE(him and Kazumi) were overjoyed with Kazuya.
Heihachi only hated Kazuya after Tekken 2 where he saw he had become corrupt and the Devil was overtaking him like his mother,so it was time to remove him too.
I doubt he wanted to kill him even in Tekken 1 cause he had the cliff as a stage,even though he knows Kazuya survived that as a 5 year old.
And we actually know plenty about what happened between Kazumis death and Tekken 1 but it requires some digging in the manuals.
The more time passed the more Heihachi viewed Kazuya as just the Devil and not his son.
During the final clash in Tekken 7 as Kazuya sees Heihachi as his younger self we see that Kazuyas eye isnt glowing red anymore,it was purely the same emotions he felt as a child which is why he saw Heihachi like he was in the cliff opening in Tekken 7.
It can be implied Heihachi found being ended by Kazuya as acceptable,but Kazuya,not the Devil.
Which was why he was so enraged at seeing True Devil Kazuya

He didn’t unite them, that was devil attempting to, kazuya took control and stopped him because I’m assuming if devil took both halves, devil would have complete control

I'm new to Tekken but I think I'm a Steve Fox main ,Hope you cover him before the game Tekken 8 comes out.I only bought the last Tekken because Akuma was in it then I beat it with Akuma I started playing with Steve Fox.
I don't think he lost to Heihachi in T4. But maybe I'm wrong.
In Kazuya's Tekken 5 profile, it was stated that the former did indeed lose to his father, thereby making Heihachi the winner of the "Fourth King of Iron Fist Tournament."

The way the story plays out in Tekken 4. Kazuya has to beat Heihachi to advance to Honmaru! There Jin and Kazuya fights and that is when Jin’s ending takes place. The game is (originally) designed to follow the main character out of the original selected players in Tekken 4 when you win with Kazuya, you get the bad ending then you unlock Jin (who is the true main character of Tekken 4). When you play with Jin you get the true ending. Before you people start talking about the story says Heihachi wins, I understand Harada wrote it that way in Tekken 5, but it was retcon to fit the Tekken 5 story! If Kazuya wins beats Heihachi then Kazuya got the Mishima Zaibatsu back. That is why Lee and everyone else thought that Kazuya won! Only Jin, Wang and Kazuya knew that it was Jinpachi Mishima, who was the sponsor of KOIFT 5! Once Kazuya found out he left the tournament and went straight to GCorp!
@@hectoraliegbe9429Actually Kazuya did beat Heihachi. Anybody who plays the game knows that but Harada retcon the story in Tekken 5. If you pay attention. He forgot to change the other characters bios because everyone else thought Kazuya won too!
@@hectoraliegbe9429If Kazuya beats Heihachi then there is an incongruous because that means Kazuya is the new head of the Mishima Zaibatsu in Tekken 4. They had retcon to fit the Tekken 5 story. However they forgot to change the character’s bios because everyone believes Kazuya won too. Plus the games designed for you to beat the game with Kazuya get the bad ending. Unlock Jin beat the game and get the true ending. So the truth is be design Kazuya does beat Heihachi.
