- The same year Doom II, Super Metroid, Mega Man X, and Donkey Kong Country came out, the fourth installment of the Pitfall franchise was released too. I find that that The Mayan Adventure is as timeless as games like Streets of Rage 2 and F-Zero.

Woooooah, this has got to be one of the best videos you've done yet. Some of the little nuances throughout it made me feel like I was watching a review back on G4TV or something, keep up the great work!
have you ever considered doing a video on any of the homestar runner video games? i noticed that you were a considerably big fan of the series and i'm wondering what you think of the games :)
hello person i know on twitter

Second this! I think Guptill could have a lot of interesting things to say about the Homestar Runner games.
Anyone here after Dylan's video? Nice channel btw.
What video are you talking about?
@@Guptill89 He is a commentator who goes over people on the internet with long and storied history's among the likes of Chris-Chan. Good on you for chuggin along and doing your thing
@@Guptill89 it’s not another hate video man, I can promise you. After watching Dylan’s video I can say with confidence. You never deserved all of that hate.
@@Guptill89And holy crap, you were way ahead of your time. I mean look at how anti social people have become because of social media.
Harry's got some crazy upper body strength. He could be an American Ninja Warrior.
(To LFOtobot) ...Or he could be a contestant on "Legends of the Hidden Temple", a Nickelodeon game show from the 1990's.
I remember seeing Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure on display as a playable demo at a Blockbuster back in the 90s. At the time, I was a kid who had never played the 1982 original. All I remember from playing The Mayan Adventure was how amazing the graphics looked. It felt like playing an interactive cartoon, like Earthworm Jim or the Sega Genesis version of Aladdin. I found out about the Sega CD port of Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure many years later. While the graphics are practically the same as the Genesis version, the Sega CD version adds an opening cinematic cutscene. The soundtrack is also greatly enhanced and improved by implementing Red Book audio and crisp stereophonic sound.
The animation Sprites reminds me earthworm jim earthworm jim 2 boogerman a pick and flick adventure and 2d 20th Century Fox cartoon animated animation movies
Another great review, game looks pretty fun!
The crocodile lifebar is genuinely amazing
Bro its crazy you only have 8k subscribers. You are a legend. Re upload 10 ten hottest sonic female characters. That video is amazing
The greatest part of this came was the ending, and I'm surprised it wasn't shown, or even mentioned.
How would an Activision game be the pack-in game on an Atari VCS?
Holy shit... IT'S YOU!!
How are you, sir or madam? "All your base are belong to us. You are on the way to destruction."- CATS from Zerowing
you have a great voice!
This was a solid game on the SNES. Played it and completed several times.
An absolute classic!!
rented game for SNES and beat it over a weekend in my youth. I remember how nice and fluid it looked. The challenge, while difficult at times, wasn't unfair and after a few tries, I was able to make it past some of the more difficult sections. I do recall the vine swings taking some getting used to, but once you got used to it, it wasnt bad.
Mayan adventure was one of the first snes games i ever played
omg cool! they made a game based on the flash animation 🔥🔥🔥
Your video editing and narration are really, really good.
i did not know the snes version had the boss health % missing
The backgrounds are NOT brightly colored on GBA. Don't play on an emulator. Properly made GBA games will always look washed out on an emulator because they are tuned to the screen's ability to display color, which is darker than usual. Play any older GBC game on a GBC and then on a GBA and you'll see.
thats actually pretty interesting
Yeah, was gonna write this. The GBA screen is not great and doesn't have a backlight. Devs accounted for this and later games in the GBA's lifecycle are more brightly coloured to counter that. People playing on emulators now just end up with really candy coloured visuals for some games playing on emus.
We paid £19.99 for this back in the day for the SNES, and I dunno how many timse through I played it, it's one of the few games I've ever felt like an expert on, especially when a friend introduced me to a cheat that maxed out the ammo, I was away, played it to death. I wonder if it'll be on GOG yet
I had the PC version. I don't recall ever getting past the dual jaguar boss.
I had this on SNES as a kid. I think you've convinced me to try it out again (on genesis this time)
For some reason, I couldn't get past the first boss in the SNES version, but I could in the Genesis version, and I never understood why.
What.. It had difficulty settings... Man u should know it as kid... I loved this game... The sound is awesome
I like the way you speak, great vid :)
Look i need to know, was the top 10 hottest sonic characters genuine or ironic
This is an amazing game. And it has cheats to select levels, ah good times
you have an amazing voice. i really like your inflection and you definitely help keep the video feel alive. i also like how you pace your information - it feels very natural. you’re genuinely a really good reviewer, great watch! keep up the great work!!
Not a fan of The Mayan Adventure as I think it's kinda sloppy like Disney's Aladdin on Genesis, but I can sort of see the appeal when I watch a video like yours.
Reminds me of the jungle book on nes
I think you mean SNES. It was also on Genesis and MS-DOS.
awesome
Hey Guptill! Do you have a business email? I've got a few questions and an offer for a role in a indie game! Me and my game dev buds all love your content.
Had this game, back on the 90's, on the PC. That definitely is the best way to play the game, as usual with these type of games. I'm no computer gaming guy, but truth is the truth. Fun game if you like platformers.
I have literally never heard someone speak fondly of this game. Awful hitboxes, annoying sound effects. This game has always felt like a worse version of Aladdin. Not to mention the Jaguar bosses who are totally anti-fun and you have to fight them over and over and over again. Btw when you hit enemies there is no impact at all, so there is practically no indication that you did damage. I HATE when games do this.
Incredible. none of what you've said has managed to be correct.
I was thinking a comparison to jungle book make more sense. Basically similar jungle setting, similar features like a variety of throwing weapons, and traversal by swinging with vines, etc.
wait holy shit you're the sonic guy
gba= troll version
a little late to the party but new gupload!!
