UPDATE: A perfect fix: Change the lowest silicone to a 20 or 30 degree bend piece, a very slight bend upwards. This will 1, move the pipe up so you can do the splash pan properly, and 2, will move the filter higher to avoid all those touch points, and 3, maybe give the MAF harness a tiny bit more play. Only issue is if the bracket would still fit with a different angled pipe.
So with the angled piece were you still able to mount it securely? Have you had any cut outs since then? I did a video today sealing the map sensor with a VERY small amount of RTV. I posted the video and tagged this video in the description. hope you don't mind, if so let me know. If you have not had any problems after putting in the elbow, can you please post a link to what you used? Thx!
Yea.. I was gonna say! I didn't have any of the problems you faced when I installed my MAP intake, I was beginning to wonder if you just got a lemon or something. Good to see you got it worked out.
That stainless is nice. The Perrin CAI is sturdy and I like it. I put an AEM CAI on the Forester XT and accidentally overtightened one of the clamps at the filter and the pipe fucking buckled! Piece of garbage. No worries with the stainless
Do you know if this is the revised intake unit by MAP. They posted that they were planning to revise as a number of customers had some stalling issues, a very small # of people but it made me decide to hold off installing mine until they have the revised version or possibly get a credit on it towards another part. Possibly a TMIC or their Charge pipe but I have a PRL already. Based on your tolerance of sound I don't believe you will have the intake installed long at all but let's see. Many are using and very happy with MAP stage 2 dp and intake and have had no issue, would be nice to use an intake cover as well to finish it off. Their customer service is top notch and products solid. You find a road yet?
C. K. This is the revised version.. I have conical shape intake.. and yes I do have stalling issues .. I told them about it and they never mentioned anything about intake some how.. all they said to send me data logs .. wow .. it happens when you floor the car and come to complete stop most of the time
Adil Baksh Really, I am surprised , I have to look at my unit , so you are saying the new version has a conical shaped filter and the original does not, I can't remember as mine is sitting in storage in box? There are many running the original with no issue at all, I will probably exchange at coat of shipping for a credit and use funds from sale of my new Torque Solutions TGV/EGR kit towards a tmic. I think a tmic, dp and chargepipe with a solid tune will be enough retaining the level of sound I am tolerable with. Look forward to LastHumans review after he is tuned. How long ago did you get your intake and have you sent logs in? Keep us posted in their thread.
C. K. The one in this video is revised one.. I have the older version and it's much much bigger then this filter. I've been running about 4 months now stage 2 complete setup from MAP. So far e-tune is not 100% Spot on it keep throwing CEL every 50 or so miles. And mid section of exhaust has a gap now and been leaking.. the exhaust quality is a disappointment from them it's really thin quality.. my only complaint..
Adil Baksh have you been in contact w Ian? I have their catted dp, quality is excellent, fitment w the included v-band to my Sti midpipe is perfect. There are a lot of people running their stage 2 combo w no issue and solid feedback? Have you done an retune outside of their provided tune? I have never ever had a cel to date on stage 1 or 2, 28k , cars a champ!

i think the perrin wins at this time, as far as fitment and design. they are close, but i mentioned a couple improvements MAP could make to improve theirs.

I think I had to move that little black bracket a little to add some slack to the MAF sensor extension cord and line up that pipe bracket better.

nah you can pick up a cheap one for 100 or so. propane, less mess or kerosene. look at depot or Loews. east coast sucks in the winter
