Marble Race: Marble League 2017 E1: Funnel Race + OPENING CEREMONY

- The first event of the 2017 Marble League (Marblelympics)!
After the Opening Ceremony, the 2017 Marble League starts with the Funnel Race, an event also seen in qualifying. In it, 8 marbles race on a track consisting of 9 funnels, each one dropping straight into the next one. The marble that takes the LONGEST to drop through all the funnels will win the event for their team. There will be two preliminary rounds, with the best four marbles in each heat moving on to the final.

I love Oceanics and even though they fall behind a lot, they always pull through and I never give up on them. They literally just went from last place to second in this video. Btw, can't wait for 2019 marblelympics!

The Limers just can't keep that momentum in the funnel drop. Y'know, they did the exact same thing in the qualifiers. Hope they can improve in that event in future years.

Oh, the Pageantry, how it makes my heart swell and throb!
Aqua was sooooo clutch in the 6th funnel, using the other marbles to repeatedly regain momentum after a bad start. Unfortunately Mary was even more clutch in the last funnel, getting wide and pulling off a nice push for the gold. I'm late, but looking forward to this year's events! #tidepride2019
Team Momo was going so strong, making an excellent recovery in the fifth to last funnel, but then they lost it. So sad.

I'm so happy you re-uploaded so I could watch Mary dominate this first event again. She spent 25 seconds in funnel four to go from last place to eventually win. This was when everyone started to realize that Mary should take over as captain. Go Team Primary

Maybe to make it feel more like a 'real' tournament, you can make small boards with spnsors. Maybe with Hubelino in Hubelino events or maybe with fake brands just like in Mario Kart

For being newcomers, the Midnight Wisps seemingly underestimated the competition. While they swept the funnel race in the qualifiers with a 1:08 time, here when a medal is at stake Wospy only manages a 1:03 time when every nearly other marble improved their performance by tens of seconds, landing the Wisps in 13th place in what should have been their game. The funnel race is not only a game of patience, it's a game of strategy, and the change in strategy between the qualifiers and this event did not pay off for the Midnight Wisps.
Yeah. I would say one of the main strategies is do you user most of your endurance strategy early on to try and get yourself a nice lead or save it down below. Because you only have so much of it.

It's absolutely amazing watching the Pinkies in the third bowl drop into it second and manage to stay in it until they're in second place.

First time watching. Super amazing.
Studying the pattern for the funnel drop. When multiple marbles circle together in the same funnel and are touching, the one at the end of the line loses speed first and and the first to drop through to the next funnel. That’s why marbles that are leading the event often drop quickly as they drop into the end of the line of the next funnel and quickly fall through to the next one.
