It’s funny, being a Liverpool fan it’s obviously frustrating that we were that good for that long and only have one league title to show for it, but the other day it occurred to me I was never, not once, jealous of City fans. It sounds like banter but I genuinely think I’ve had more fun watching football than them over the past decade.
I think this is it. No matter how good City get, no matter how much they win. Their main "rivals" Man United still consider getting one over on Liverpool more important. For Liverpool and United fans, the most important thing is beating each other, no matter where City are Liverpool Vs United is still the biggest rivalry in English football. It was when Liverpool were totally dominant, it was when United were dominant. And it still is now. It doesn't matter if it's lopsided as Paisley against Ron Atkinson or Ferguson against Hodgson. It's the most important game in the calendar. No matter how good City get they will never have anything like the great historic rivalries of Liverpool Vs Man United, Barcelona Vs Real Madrid, AC Milan Vs Inter Milan, Bayern Vs Dortmund etc etc, and they absolutely hate it.

Technically it was both. We'd won the league already pretty much when Covid lockdowns hit, which was when restrictions were really tight. We only had to play a handful of games when the restart happened. City won a league title where basically the entire season was behind closed doors, apart from a few games I believe where they let a certain percentage of the ground capacity in to watch, which at the time was great considering what was going on in the world!
