Small correction here, but firearm loading type by release time is: Muzzle loader (muskets) to breach loader/break action to Revolver to lever action to bolt action to semi automatic to fully automatic
Atlatl has the advantages of being much smaller and easier to carry, much easier to make, and can still be made when large animals arent available to collect sinew from. Most prevalent in my mind are all the old pueblo indians in the southwest that often lived high up on cliffs in dwellings you'd have to climb to up a rock face. So ignoring the fact that atlatls FAR predates bows, in some situations they were the most convenient or only option.

12:04 the thing about slings is that the skill required to use them in a reliably accurate way was insanely high. Slingers trained since they were like 5 years old, and even then, the bow is still better. Archers also trained young, but not AS young.
Honestly, he's right about the bows, as a brit I know very well about the power of British longbowmen, literally feared throughout Europe because of the numbers and skill of our longbowmen
I think that firearm section should've started from first ones, like medieval handgonne, those were pretty interesting too. And first cannons were used since the late medieval era, there was a huge variety of them too. Oh and variety of muskets, like arquebus, wheellock, flintlock
Atali Spear Thrower is more efficient than you think. Modern metal slingshots can do plenty of damage. Shuriken were mainly nuisance weapons. China had the 100-missile launcher; while Korea had the Hwacha. They both belong in broken territory. Muskets can do nasty damage. Not to mention the Springfield 1861 was rifled. Operating flame throwers outside tanks sucked and made people high priority targets.
he had a sword 10:10 10:42 He didn’t pick a rock of the ground in the story, before the fight he went to a stream and picked up 5 stones for Goliath and his brothers
couple of things: 1. bolt action rifles were invented after lever actions, and were generally considered better because they could shoot bigger rounds, and be used laying down M1 garand was introduced in WW2. during WW1, self loading rifles (semi auto) existed, but weren’t being used much if at all. it was only in the later years of WW2 in the 1940s when they started using self loaders.

American guerrilla tactics started in the revolutionary war, but because the Apache were so good we just copied their tactics but with guns which is why we beat them.
Crossbows can be way more powerful that bows, they could have up to a 1000lb draw, the downside is they were very heavy and cumbersome, and took a while to wind up. So they would use the really heavy versions only during sieges

Very good video. But you did get a few things wrong. The M1 garand was not in WWI. It was designed in 1928 and is well known because it was the main US rifle during WWII. Also, the Thompson sub-machinegun is not a rifle. It fires on full automatic, but uses pistol caliber rounds, not rifle or carbine caliber. Also, regarding cannons, they were for the most part direct fire artillery, ie guns(guns fire at a fairly low arch trajectory, mortars at a high arch trajectory, and howitzers are inbetween with a medium arch trajectory in comparison to guns and mortars). I would say that in most ways, anti-tank guns are the modern variant of cannons, as they too are artillery that fires at a low arch trajectory.
Fun fact about throwing hands, scientists believe humans evolved the ability to ball a fist specifically because we were punching things for millions of years I’d argue making a fist also helps align us for using tools like knives and throwing spears, meaning we are also literally built for ranged combat
@juncheok8579 or grabbing which I feel would make more sense, if we evolved to punch our knuckles should be way tougher or atleast have some sort of protection
Do you mean sling or slingshot, those are two completely different things. A sling could easily kill a person or even something as large as a deer if used properly, and the sound is actually pretty scary/cool.
you described exactly why we don’t need to patch out nukes. without them we almost certainly would have had a world war 3. maybe even a 4 or 5 too. we would all be getting drafted into these constant wars. life would not be the same. i wish there wasn’t the whole armageddon threat that comes with them existing but i think them being here and causing mutually assured destruction to be a thing is for the better.

Crossbows are weird, because depending on era they can be weaker than bows, the same power as bows or complete beasts. For instance windlass crossbows or arbalests were beasts!. Furthermore the comparison of crossbows and Bows also depend on the bow we are talking about and the poundage as well as use. Crossbows are easier to use, easy to arm in mass and are advantageous to siege warfare, whereas bows are faster, and cheaper
