    I bought a set of Flatstoppers back in 2018. I have used them every summer then for ~2.5 months at a time (in a garage that does not get hot). The tires were all Michelin Pilot Sport 4S.
    I am not convinced about whether these prevent flat spots from forming the ride got noisier and noisier over time - a noise that is consistent with a flat spot although I have never checked whether a flat spot was there. One strike against me is that I have not overinflated the tires before leaving them on the Flatstoppers.
    Now, I am putting on an old set of rims and tires while away.

      I have had the same experience with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires! It did not matter how I took care of them, they just keep making that noise you describe and it gets louder and louder. I gave up and replaced them with Goodyears and all is good.

    I put my car up on jack stands for the winter. Stored in heated garage @ 50-55° F.

    could have used those when i let my ranger sit for 14 months in the garage, one tire got a really bad flat spot since it was lower on air. instead of filling back out, it stayed there and actually wore down more than any point in the tire so now it has a permanent flat spot. going to stick it out until its time to buy all four new tires. great product

    Follow-up... How did they work out, were they effective?

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They are effective in the fact that my drag radials did not get flat spots... BUT what did happen one year was that one of the flatstoppers was not center of the tire due to them not being easy to drive up on. So I have to imagine that the force created there with the tire off center of the circle was probably just as bad for the tire as it being on the ground. I have 8 cars that I store and I now have shag carpet under all the tires and I pump the tires up to 40 PSI for winter storage. No Flatstoppers.

      @@WorkshopAddict When you say "No Flatstoppers"? Did you mean there were no flat spots after long-term period? Thank you.

    Pretty expensive ($300) for a piece of molded plastic.

    1500 lbs max?????

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yes, so a 6,000-pound car since you are using 4 of them. Not sure how many cars with a soft compound street race style tire would weigh in at over 6,000 pounds.

    Surely just increasing your tyre pressure for storage is a much cheaper option.

    those tire things are more gimmicky than beneficial.
    even IF the tire fits the curve of the thing perfectly, it still will not prevent a flat spot.
    best is too jack the car up if long term storing

    New style tires are plenty safe for quite a damn long time. waste of time and money IMO.

      @@imohammed2 I don't believe in this shit either. I have Michelin Pilot Super Sport and there was no flats spots after 6 month. My friend have Micheline Pilot Sport 4S, no flat spots there either. I'm skeptical.

      Dr.Mabuse I have gone through three sets of continental DWS 06 and if the car sits for more than a few days in the cold there are flat spots.

      I have 2 ,S 55 and 550, Benz with Michelin Pilot Sport that sit 6 months is Fl and after ruining a new set I tried these and although they do work somewhat, (tires aren’t ruined), they do have small flat spots as the front tires are hard to center on the product matching the rear tires. Maybe I’ll try the shag carpet with cardboard, I hear it works.

      New Tires may take 30
      Days or more to flat spot . option 1 - over inflate the tires 2- put it on jack stands. 3- save the old junk tires and buy cheap rims from junk yard and switch them for the winter. I over inflate to 44 psi and never had an issue.
