Agreed. Honestly, the story around Haru is terrible and her confident ranks feel the most boring. Focusing it around changing her dick of a finance's heart would have been amazing and it could have helped her gain confidence from the abuse she endured.
Big fan of how the joke in this playthrough is that you're killing all the Palace rulers (or at least, Kamoshida/Madarame/Kaneshiro). And then with Okumura you specifically say that you spared his life. Lol.
The maid cafe part made me laugh, imagine being a worker there lol, this guy comes in and is a total asshole to you and then the next day he shows up with two strange children

@Cassidy iirc, yusuke is also pretty heavily autistic coded. i also have to really agree, as someone who's autistic, i *love* how they were written. their autistic traits are never shown to be negative- it's just part of who they are, not something that needs to be fixed. even if it isn't intentional, i still think they're some of the best representations of autistic people i've seen in media.
I didn't make myself clear during the premiere but I absolutely love the demonstration scenes during some confidants. It brought a different perspective on confidants that I never would have thought of if not for these video! Lovely work btw!

Seriously, I just beat SJ: Redux recently and I loved that game. Even when I played Okumaru’s palace for the first time in the original persona 5 I didn’t hate it.
True about the airlock puzzles being easy. I heard people taking about how hard and annoying they were and was genuinely excited since I love puzzles like that, and I was a little disappointed at how easy it was
I never noticed the 2 police officers investigating a single chair until you mentioned it, that is hilarious. If Joker never climbed that ladder in the opening sequence, I don't think they would ever caught him. As to the airlock puzzle, I found it more tedious than anything else. The music is pretty nice and the aethestics are pleasing to look at. EDIT: I just finished Sae's Palace in my first playthrough of Persona 5 Royal (on normal), I got to say, I think it was easier than the vanilla version. Granted I had Thor with his Wild Thunder ability so when she grabbed her Almighty affinity, I smacked her for almost 1600 damage with Wild Thunder which took almost half of her health (this felt dirty to me, but gave me hope for how badly I could wreck Shido).
Joker in this run is confirming my theory that the life of an athlete is a lonely one. Constantly training but unable to talk to his confidants. 😅 I speak from experience.
I think my main gripe with okumura’s palace visually is that while yes it’s impressive to look at and looks pretty it’s utterly lacks any sort of subtle symbolism or anything thought provoking to look at and contributes nothing story wise, you can really learn a lot about palace rulers by the design of their palace but it’s hard to tell much of anything in okumura’s cause this subtlety and symbolism is just completely absent, the theme of “space station” just doesn’t mesh with okumura in the slightest and it shows off painfully in the thematically empty design of the palace
I never noticed how ridiculous the police officers in the background at Haru's home are looking investigating basically nothing. Would explain how a high schooler is apparently able to solve more crimes than the police can. 😅 (Nothing against Akechi, but I had to point that out.)
It is so easy to break this game even with a ton of restrictions. To make a run actually challenging you have to remove most of the games options. I really wish there were one of at least two things: either a harder difficulty option (since Merciless makes normal encounters and even several bosses easier, not harder) or the ability to forego experience gain while still engaging in battle. And wishful thinking, but the one thing about P5 Strikers that is vastly superior is the unlocking of Merciless post-game which accounts for all your New Game+ carry overs. Basically, I would love the incentive to build optimal personas and collect end game items and carry them over with a difficulty setting that assumes you are doing this (not necessarily requires, but isnt a complete joke if you do).
Personally i haven't been much for builds more brute force until i find a strat that works thats what i do when it comes to grinding ppl say on very hard i need lvl 15 to beat the first boss in p4g screw grinding for five minutes im doing it at 11 But you do make a good point some kind of even less merciless for ultra challenge
Only i fear how tough the ng+ 3rd semester boss on that difficulty i made almost a full mask slots filled sort of persona set up and i only barely scraped by with some extreme luck toward the end 2 ultimate supports only a couple turns apart and a lot of crits from sumire it was very nice
@@stovebot4280 In P4G, all you need is to get Jack Frost as early as possible, then level him up for the first boss. His last skill is Mind Charge or whatever the P4 version of Concentrate is. That along with the Shuffle Times that upgrade a persona skill, make it simple to beat.
@hexan tronic i did beat that boss a while ago but thanks for advice i just used fire resistant bois and good phys attacks Fun fact in the second dungeon i got an upgrade card and it upgraded arm chopper to atom smasher which is really overpowered in that dungeon im still using it in the fourth dungeon but unfortunately i died in the battle following it was heartbreaking especially after a grinding session because the boss was just wayyy too tough at that level although i can avoid the time spent grinding by bumping up exp gain but only on sessions i want to stay low leveled to keep the game challenging

How many automatically start? Chariot, Strength(?), All phantom thieves(?), Faith, Counselor, Justice (auto start in royal), any others?
Liquid mercury is a drop from Anubis shadows (The one in futaba's palace that had hamaon/mudoon). It takes some gridding to get them. You can also get it later when those appears on mementos or later around the random objets across mementos.
I like the costumes in this game much more than cosmetic items in other games... Unlike them, putting Joker in certain costumes changes the battle music, so if you like me have heard the same 15 seconds of the same battle themes a few thousand times now from doing dosins of playthroughs in both the original and Royal, this became a MASSIVE relief! I basicly put new costumes on everyone every time i go into a new palace to liste to some new tunes... So even if they are mechanicaly completely pointless, just having different music combined with the game being amazingly good, i had no problem throwing a bit of extra money at the game for some new bangers, while showing my support to the creators with my wallet!
And now they're free depending on your platform! (I just got p5r on Xbox last week and all the dlc aside one comes bundled, they removed one costume from the game) but other than that they're all here , installed in base, and you don't even have to fork over extra cash

(No Spoilers) The third semester palace's puzzle near the end is way harder than the airlock maze. While it may be easy for people who have done it before my first time through was hell especially trying to get the will seed.
I will agree it was harder but personally i didn't find it that hard although this is coming from a professor layton veteran which would've somewhat helped but the will seed is easily the games hardest puzzle, but i guess hard as soggy paper isn't much compitition
I could make my way through the maze by itself alright but FUCK that Will Seed lmao. I just resorted to using a guide because it was 3AM and I did not have the patience to play RGB Switchy time for 90 minutes. I genuinely enjoyed the puzzle but that Will Seed is a nightmare
Thst palace does at least make you pay attention and think. The airlock really doesn't. You dont really need to think at all. You can just look at the map and complete the maze in a few minutes at least
You can shoot the bastilla more than once in Royal! The problem is at least one of your characters has bullets in their gun. You have to shoot all the bullets to get to use the bastilla again. It's real obtuse, I almost wasted as much time as you before I looked up why the bossfight was taking an unholy amount of time.
I may of maxxed hifumi but I have never used party switch, although kasumi is great, for the stupid rat puzzles her grapple can glitch em so i can ignore some of the bs

I don't typically do any special outings in a playthrough since it's a waste of time. That said, I ALWAYS do Caroline/Justine's outings. Not only are they the best written/translated part of the game (like a completely different company localized them), but they generally have big windows of time where you can take them. There's plenty of time in a playthrough to max all confidants, all social stats AND do Caroline/Justine's outings! I actually do recommend it
Those airlock puzzles were changed majorly from the original. I loathed both those and the rat puzzles in the original. Royal was a really pleasant surprise. The only downside is that the achieves were lame in Royal.
i only recently played p5 and the h8 for okumuras airlock puzzle is over exaggerated (for the first playthrough cuz after that it's just tedious) however, i fucking hate his bossfight because it's the worst trope because he isn't a boss just a support for his workers. Although it makes sense thematically and story wise. it's up there with my least favorite fights in the series.
I have this challenge similar to this. Can you beat persona 5 (or persona 4) without ranking up a single confidant (social link). Go through the entire game without raising a single rank of a confidant the only ones that can rank up are automatic ones and the first rank of party meme era like Ryuji and Ann.
I think the air lock complaint is a little misunderstood in this video. I personally detest the air lock part in the vanilla version, but not because it's hard, it's not difficult at all, which is kinda the problem. It's not a challenge, it's just tedious. It litearally feels like wasting time walking back and forth in same-looking corridors. That is not my definition of fun. I also disagree about the space station being the most visually stunning palace. In my opinion it is visually bland and the only palace that doesn't fit the phantom thief theme at all :/
Playing the normal version of p5 on my ps3 and the three mementoes requests aren’t even the game lol (unless it was the crap I skipped because I didn’t know u actually had to open mishamas messages in the regular p5) but if I’m right there’s no reason to work at a part time job in p5 for the request
I actually really hate Okumura's palace. However, this is not because of the air lock puzzles. I have always found those puzzles to be extremely easy. The reason why I hate the palace is the story which is super weak, the boss fight which is just a shit show and always makes me angry, and the other mechanics like how long it was and the arm break part. This palace in vanilla was the first time I ever threw my controller and let me tell you....my dad was not happy. Keep in mind this was 2016 and I was 12-13 at this time. That experience has always made me bitter about the palace.

I solved the airlock "puzzle" by just going to the only places I could go, asides that the only puzzle was at the end, but that wasn't hard either

The boss fight was even worse because I haven't played optimally up to that point and struggled to do so afterwards.
My main problem with Okumura's Palace is actually that all the puzzles are non-puzzles. Nothing challenging there.
See I don't find the airlock puzzle hard, but however all the flying from airlock to airlock makes me violently nauseous.

Usually I don’t care about spoilers but i hear 3rd semester is really good so I’m trying to remain in the dark about it. I was actually on track to do it a few months ago! …BUT the ps4 i was playing it on crapped out on me and i lost the entire save. In Okumura’s palace of all places. I haven’t had the heart to restart the entire game🤦🏾♀️

I don't typically do any special outings in a playthrough since it's a waste of time. That said, I ALWAYS do Caroline/Justine's outings. Not only are they the best written/translated part of the game (like a completely different company localized them), but they generally have big windows of time where you can take them.
There's plenty of time in a playthrough to max all confidants, all social stats AND do Caroline/Justine's outings! I actually do recommend it
Those airlock puzzles were changed majorly from the original. I loathed both those and the rat puzzles in the original. Royal was a really pleasant surprise. The only downside is that the achieves were lame in Royal.

i only recently played p5 and the h8 for okumuras airlock puzzle is over exaggerated (for the first playthrough cuz after that it's just tedious) however, i fucking hate his bossfight because it's the worst trope because he isn't a boss just a support for his workers. Although it makes sense thematically and story wise. it's up there with my least favorite fights in the series.
Kasumi is a fail, in my opinion, as really they didn't have to lock her to practically post game.
I have this challenge similar to this. Can you beat persona 5 (or persona 4) without ranking up a single confidant (social link). Go through the entire game without raising a single rank of a confidant the only ones that can rank up are automatic ones and the first rank of party meme era like Ryuji and Ann.

I think the air lock complaint is a little misunderstood in this video. I personally detest the air lock part in the vanilla version, but not because it's hard, it's not difficult at all, which is kinda the problem. It's not a challenge, it's just tedious. It litearally feels like wasting time walking back and forth in same-looking corridors. That is not my definition of fun. I also disagree about the space station being the most visually stunning palace. In my opinion it is visually bland and the only palace that doesn't fit the phantom thief theme at all :/

I actually really hate Okumura's palace. However, this is not because of the air lock puzzles. I have always found those puzzles to be extremely easy. The reason why I hate the palace is the story which is super weak, the boss fight which is just a shit show and always makes me angry, and the other mechanics like how long it was and the arm break part. This palace in vanilla was the first time I ever threw my controller and let me tell you....my dad was not happy. Keep in mind this was 2016 and I was 12-13 at this time. That experience has always made me bitter about the palace.
