    In my other cleaning videos, some of you ask where I get the big bags of baking soda and big bottles of white vinegar. Here are the Amazon links where I buy my cleaning products: Baking Soda: amzn.to/2tALCCB
    White Vinegar: amzn.to/2tTYyq7 AND! I just unclogged my bathroom sink without Drano. Check it out: th-cam.com/video/qxrgABXie5Q/w-d-xo.html

    Great tip and description on how to clean an iron. I bought an old Sunbeam Steam Iron Master for $1 today at my local Flea Market. It works except the stain on plate. Thank you again! 👌👏👏

    Wow...wow..wow. I honestly was sceptical about the coarse salt and colour catcher pad being able to clean the scum...till I tried it out and hey presto!!! It worked a treat and my sole plate is now clear as it was when I bought the iron. Thank you so much!!!

    Thanks for the video, I have the same Rowenta iron as you show, and found 5 minutes of rubbing with the dampened white eraser sponge took it right off of the cold iron, and now I have a shiny new-looking stainless steel iron plate -- thanks!
    I found your video because I first followed the Rowenta site advice to use a damp cotton towel. 40 minutes later of rubbing, about half was gone. The eraser sponge (generic Target brand) took care of that super fast!
    I should add that I only had a white/brownish residue in the flat wishbone area that doesn't have steam holes. Apparently starch gets glued on the flat parts, must be the steam around the holes prevents that buildup.

    I am surprised not a single person has commented that baking soda is a base and vinegar is an acid, when you combine the two you get water and a salt, Sodium acetate and carbondioxide in this case. Vinegar alone reacts with mineral scales and dissolve them. When you add baking soda to vinegar, you neutralize the acid and reduce the scale dissolving power of vinegar. In the send part where you are rubbing the baking soda on bottom , it is just acting as mild abrasive to scratch the stain away.

    • @zanelesekano2222
      @zanelesekano2222 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is true but I don’t think she mixed the two. In the first part, she used vinegar to clean out the tank. Then she cleaned out the vinegar and replaced with water for the baking soda step to clean the burn.

      And there it is. Always that person who doesn't realise it's the reaction that lifts the grime! Nobody cares about the "final product is salt water" because what cleans is the fizzing.

      Hi Charles :) I started my TH-cam channel just before my grandma passed away. She wasn't feeling well, so I bought a ticket to go see her. Unfortunately, she passed away before I got there. That made me realize how many more things I wanted to learn from her and I couldn't. This is the reason I started the channel. I wanted to document and put out there all the knowledge I have hoping to help someone along the way. I miss her so much... she was the wisest person I have ever known. I am working on a short film about her on my other channel but is going slow because I get too emotional...
      Thank you for watching Charles! I appreciate it very much!!!

    Hi Sasha, I’m wondering....shouldn’t we rinse out the vinegar from the water tank? And press the steam button a lot to clear the vinegar out of the tank and steam holes before ironing anything after cleaning the iron?

    • @AnOldSchoolHome
      @AnOldSchoolHome  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, you should do that with a full tank of water.
