This performance is actually just unreal, funky jam + cool solo + playing with the crowd + mega hype build-up + epic dive back into the funky jam = insane amounts of awesome, these are really good musicians
I like to imagine that the whole band knew where to come in on the guy's solo without any planning whatsoever. It just makes the scene that much cooler.
I could be completely wrong, but I think there's a good chance that that's actually the case. They essentially don't rehearse at all; that's how they keep the so-called vulfpeck magic. Whatever happens on stage happens
@liamm113 Yeah like during end of the solo where everyone comes in, the other guitarist seemed to look at the drummer alot at the beginning as if to try to match the beat, then when the soloist started to increase the spd preparing for the finale at like 5:00 the other guitarist started vibing and moving his head as if he was like (OK, OK I see you, sheeeesh) To the soloist. Which makes me much more hopeful that this was unreleased and a masterpiece put together by pure musicianship.
I love how when Joe Dart goes on his extended solo at 2:55, he basically writes 8 or 10 new awesome riffs haha The one at 3:44 is particularly funktastic imo
Joe's sudden switch to slapping at 4:00 was so fast, not including the small bit where he changes his hand formation from normal finger style to slap, his hand travels faster than a youtube frame. Just a neat fact I'd like to share.
Am I the only person to be impressed by Theo* at the drums? He returns from backstage, captures an ever increasing tempo and slowly levels off the speed ramp without cutting it off immediately. Wow. *Edit: Sorry, of course it's Theo not Jack. 😅
rewatching this after a year. this is just insane. and the performance yooo wtf?! the way they went back to theme at the end. just raaad. or as the guy would say:“tight“
When I saw his solo for the first time I was wondering why he started to brace himself... little did I know he was gonna rip it up with everything he's got!
That’s definitely the same beat but not what I remember it from😂. I was thinking it might be get up offa that thang but that bass line doesn’t seem to totally match. My brother said there are tons of songs that use that bass line
I am so glad Joe Dart invented the bass and formed Joe Dart and the Joe Darts.
yep
Joe and the Darts
This has "It's Morbin Time" energy.
@@tomevans2499It's Dartin' time
i almost forgot to watch this today
Never forget
Me always comeback everyday
It’s cool how the Vulf community has grail videos like this that are random phone recordings.
ikr, last time I forgot it wasl like 11 years ago, took a year of therapy sessions to get over that
Literally me 😂
The fact that theyve never rehearsed a show is insane
I was listening to this when Henry Kissinger died and I got up and started dancing
The only appropriate response 😂
I like how at some point during Joe's solo he realizes "Oh I should start slapping now"
"Tight."
Marcus Rutherford
Not wrong at all.
I hope someday I see bass solo live so tight that i just mutter "tight" out loud
3:47
"tight" is totally understatement
thank you joe dart for inventing music
This performance is actually just unreal, funky jam + cool solo + playing with the crowd + mega hype build-up + epic dive back into the funky jam = insane amounts of awesome, these are really good musicians
With such a presentation, "really good" feels like the century's understatement hahaha
4:08 People going crazy over Joe’s licks is what I live for
they screamed like it was an amazing diss in a freestyle rap, the whole crowd went OOOOOOOO together
I’m gonna show my friends the video starting at 3:00 and try to convince them Vulfpeck is just Joe Dart alone soloing on a fender bass
With a bunch of useless instruments to keep him company on that stage.
@@arunthebuffoon4554 Exactly
Don't forget 1:30
The timing is perfecto
@@makitron4910 ?? hes joking about the section of the video where joes playing alone, what does theo have to do with it?
I love these kinds of crowds. They are so lively
People listening in December 2024?
5:27 Mr. Dart resolution. Just Perfect.

Theo's energy in this performance is a truly beautiful thing
It's as if the the spirit of funk entered his very soul
THE BEST ONE YET
When you can't tell who's having a better time, the band or the audience, you know it's a good show.
If I was there I probably wouldn't survive
Y’all ever just “ UGH!!” right after Joe hits a nastyyy lick?

3:30 look he's repeating this D note, look this tone how profound it sounds. Amazing. I keep hearing over and over and get amazing impressions.
Joe Dart is invited to the cookout

Alright im gonna say it…. This is one of the best single song performances of all time.
This is the best performance possibly ever of anything
Hello video I watch for the rest of my life.
That perfect transition too, fucking hell. What a band.

Pretty sure thats Theo on the kit but that drum performance is for sure the hidden gem of this one.
Yeah that is theo in the back
Yeah that's Theo. He and Joe are so fucking tight in the pocket together it's other worldly
Yeah the pocket with them is intergalactic 😂
Yeah i just love when he comes in from the back ❤
we all need to thank Lefferson Jam for recording this masterpiece and uploading it
as a jamiroquai fan i gotta say, i love bass
His neck muscles must be so strong. His head never stops moving!

3:47
4:29 just starts playing get up and jump haha fucking awesome
Some bass players are great players, others are great performers, Joe dart is both.
0:47 Weapon of Choice
Slim boy with a fat bass tone
Thank you! I was wondering why it sound so familiar
The intro to come on come over by jaco pastorius also kinda.
God holy damn, this is the definition of groove
Man Joe certainly had his 4 pounds of white flour pasta before that show
I was looking for something like this🤣
When I saw his solo for the first time I was wondering why he started to brace himself... little did I know he was gonna rip it up with everything he's got!
Today I've discovered my future all time favorite band. Thanks TH-cam.
You ever hear something that makes you shake with indescribable feeling
joe dart is a legend
The number of videos where Joe Dart goes beastly is too damn high !
We want more !
This has to be the best video ever right
yes it is!!!!
I know this is Joe's song but Cory's right-hand around the 5 minute is ridiculous
High-cartilage funk
He’s so underrated. Dude is a clock too.
It's so funky and low-volume.

Jedi speed bass 1:37
The crowd totally lost it at 4:08

Joe Joe Joe Joe Joe Joe me at my home 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
People make jokes about the instruments being under aged and all that.. but seriously.. I hope that bass has a good lawyer.
don’t worry, she’s from the 90’s
That's the way musicians used to do it...

Kick ass
Seriously where do I find more music like this!?
freakbass. medeski Martin and wood. chromeo.
@Emulius Check out Dr Funk by The Main Squeeze. The bass in there is pretty similar to how Joe does it.
My joe dart bobble head spring keeps breaking when I play this
Go Joe ♥️♥️😵
I wonder how it felt for him to be the coolest man on the planet in that moment doing the solo
Did my duty today and whatched it
Too funky give me some air

Can anyone tell from where they took lick at 0:50? It's so iconic, yet I can't recall from what and it's driving me insane haha. Please assist!
I figured it out. It's that junkie xl song that has Christopher Walken in its clip.
Err, the Fatboy Slim song Weapon of Choice that should be.
