The amazing thing is Ringo's drumming is just as good as Paul's bass. Together they are the ultimate foundation for a band. His use of the toms and cymbals is so unique and adds so much to the feel of this song masterpiece.
It certainly is THE bassline I mean, I’ve just heard it isolated for the first time yesterday, and, well… Everytime somebody asked me „what a great bassline is”, or „what is the best bassline/the use of bass in a song”, etc My one and only (well…not only, but the most often cited one) was „A Day In The Life” And everytime somebody said „The Beatles aren’t such great musicians” or „Beatles are Overrated” or „McCartney isn’t much of a bassplayer” I’d say „just listen to this song, please, and look out for the bass” And everytime somebody would say „why do you play the bass?” I’d be like „just listen to this shit, Man…” And now, it’s more than ever Because I can hear the little things he does, that don’t make that much sense when playing JUST bass, but that make PERFECT sense, when listening to the entire arragement And I must say Macca, you did it again You fookin amazed me after 12 years of listening to you every day

I came to YT looking for A Day in the Life because I wanted to hear Ringo’s drumming. I never expected to find *this* so thank you!
Paul takes you on a real journey with this bass line. Not much repetition.
i would kill to see this takes been made in real time way back in the 60's
Paul played the piano and the bass in this track which is quite cool
People praise Ringo’s drumming and rightly so, but Paul’s playing on this track is also perfect.
