you mr. austin, are a very kind and respectful of the families burying their loved ones. most folks do understand the challenges of grave digging, prep and safety factors involed with it. you did this burial very professionly with dignity and care. everybody has to work together to acomplish all the needed tasks at hand.
Thank you for another very informative video. You are a blessing to many. May you and your family have a wonderful and Merry Christmas. Enjoy your 1st with your newest son! I bet you are all excited!
Hi Austin, thanks for all of the great videos throughout the year. Glad the turning of the vault went so well for this setup. Wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas and a Healthy and Happy 2025. This will be a special Christmas with the new addition of your baby boy to your family earlier this year.
i can add that frozen top layer and muddy undersoil are some of the worst conditions its a royal pain moving 25 ton 53 foot trailers i cant imagine doing it on grass with someones loved one in your care to place them to rest
We had a false burial when my son died in 1999, when Hurricane Floyd left virtually all of eastern NC underwater. He had to be kept at the funeral home for a month before the ground dried up enough to bury him. I had never known that such a thing was ever done.
The cemetery where my maternal grandparents are buried they usually have the final committal service at the cemetery's chapel then after the family leaves they take the casket out to the grave site, place it in the vault, and then bury the vault. The one where my paternal grandparents are buried offers graveside services but has a small chapel in case they can't do graveside services.
I worked for a large conglomerate of funeral homes in south florida in the 90's. On one particular morning, we had 4 seperate funerals going on. Two were in funeral home chapels, and two in churches. Everything was timed to the minute with about 15 minute gaps between starting, with the priests, motorcycle escorts, and cemetery workers as three of the four were going to the same cemetery, so as to avoid procession gridlock. 10 minutes into the first one starting, we get a frantic call, that one of the caskets was not the one the family picked out, and when it was opened, was not the correct body. Obviously, if one is wrong, that means at LEAST two were wrong... With hearses racing across town to get to the right place, and our pants basically down for the family to see, it was quite embarrassing, and obviously very unsettling for the two families. It turned out that the four hearses were lined up behind one another, and the office paperwork gave each body a car number, like #1, #2, #3, #4. Unfortunately, after being loaded, car #3 had a flat tire and was pulled out to get it changed, and when it was fixed, was pulled back in at the rear of the line, effectively switching #3 and #4. The drivers not knowing this, simply drove their car to the church they were told to.... 30 years have passed now, and the dark side of my humor is still laughing its ass off....
Owned a funeral home and when we got to the cemetery for the burial, the grave was dug in the completely wrong area and the family was devastated. The problem, the family went to the cemetery to make burial arrangements and told the cemetery that the young man was going to be buried next to John Doe and that was that. The problem was that the cemetery did not take the family to the actual grave site. Turns out there was another John Doe in a different area. The family was devastated, they had to go back and have their luncheon while the cemetery hurried and dug the grave in the right spot so everything had to be moved, the vault, the tent, carpet, chairs everything. In the meantime while the cemetery was in such a rush to fix their mistake they hit a waterline and flooded the grave at the same time. So they quickly patched the pipe with a rubber hose and some clamps, got as much water out of the grave as possible. Thank God for the Artificial turf that was set right up against the vault. The family was upset with us but I told them we have no control over what goes on at the cemetery. So if you have to make cemetery arrangements, please make them take you out to the site. Don't just assume or let them assume.
At 6:06 it looks like the cable moved the emblem on the top of the vault. I was hoping that someone caught it and moved it back straight but it looks like it wasn't (maybe I am seeing things).
I feel like burial vaults should be offered that have large holes on all sides so that over time we can return to the soil after we pass. It would keep the ground from collapsing but would allow groundwater in and out.
Can't be like that because bodies are filled with highly toxic chemicals that cannot be allowed to get into the groundwater and environment because the toxic stuff would severely harm wildlife and poison people when it would get into drinking water.

There are liners that have this option
That’s what orthodox Jewish folks do they use a bottomless vault so that way the casket is touching the Earth
That defeats the purpose of a vault
