  • LIVE on THURSDAY, 29th APRIL 2021 - 20:00 BST
In this episode (part 5 of 7), we're back to a place we both know well: the Isle of Man. Often overlooked but important nevertheless - and full of surprises. Then travelling north through England to take in the megaliths of Derbyshire, the North East coast and, of course, the great circles of Cumbria in the Lake District.
At time of writing, our film Standing with Stones has had 1.3 million views on TH-cam since it was published here in full-length form for the first time in April last year.
(If you've not seen Standing with Stones before, you can watch it here: • EPIC MEGALITHIC JOURNE... )
Now, join Rupert and Michael for an epic journey as they take you through the entire film over seven evenings in the coming weeks. Watch the movie unfold with them and ask questions in real time via the live chat, exploring these fantastic megalithic monuments and the stories behind the making of the film.

Just got to the bit where someone mentioned claustrophobia. Exactly what I was thinking! There hops and wriggles Rupert, straight into the hole like some acrobat, and I'm on the cyber grassland thinking, "no bl**dy way!!" LOL

Hi, regarding your visit to Lancashire, the locals describe the Bleasdale circle as keeping its eye on Preston (as it overlooks the city) rather than near Clitheroe. Just saying 😙😉
Great documentary though guys. I cant wait for sws 2 👍

Mull Circle is in a great location at the bottom of the island. Lots of great walks around there with amazing views of the coastline.

I always loved Long Meg when I lived up there and wouldnt go from East to 'West without going to pay my simple homage.
One thing I found in the woods of Northumberland on a hillside not far from a stream. A very old possibly shepherds hut, only remnants of walls, but the floor was just visible. It was concentric rings of bones pushed into the earth with just the knuckle end pointing up. So simple to make and yet as good as tiles to keep your feet out the mud. Are there any other types of floors that survive?

At 47.38 ish, I think this is the Bleasdale stone circle that Stewart Ainsworth was involved with the group that saved the circle site as part of a wider effort. I think !

Would they have chosen such a site for the Axe factory because it was easier to defend. It might not have been a huge concern but a few people could defend such a site far easier. Isn't Grimes Graves also a good example of trade?
The biggest thing drones will offer you will be a over head shot to show us the lay out of the site. It's much easier to understand what you're talking about if we understand the size and shape of the site. How it's laid out and how it's sat in the landscape.

OH YEA...The Kogi, The Mama's? or something isn't it? I watched that Doc. several times. Strange little society who evaded conquistadors. I love their creation story & world view. They think they have to keep doing what they are doing to keep chaos at bay or something, because We are little brother, messing up the mother....Earth. Sort of akin to Egyptian beliefs. However, in that doc. they closed the gate and didn't want to see little brother again lol. How did you get in Rupert or were you part of that crew who went and made that doc? Kinda neat they are tucked away just up the mountain and can look down and see the city. Must be strange for them. I went there on Google Earth and you can see where the main city was, and places where there's huts, and various fields of crops at diff. elevations etc....
Just wanted to mention, prob. repeating myself. I live on Tribal Lands and there is a platform mound outside of town. It is literally right on the Verdigris River. Downstream from the Oolagah Dam. Even my town is named after a Chief Clermont. There was the Battle of the Strawberry Moon there (not old at all, happened in the 1800's) , but along the Verdigris river bank I found a surface find (only because the area was used as a sod farm I suspect), and the archaeological society said it was a 10k yr. old chert scraper. Prized Kansas Chert. It's beautiful IMO. It's Red and White and that's the towns School Colors. How neat. YESTERDAY I found out there's a couple of burial mounds in Coweta, depending on the route taken, it's about 40 minutes drive. Only recently has tribal elders took charge and are clearing an old forgotten cemetery that's next to it, and running ground penetrating radar so not to miss any unmarked graves. Many indians are buried there as well. I'm intrigued, and just starting my journey to find as much info as I can about it, but even the local Tribe know very little about the area. An old map from the 1800's was found by the city tho and viola, the mounds were listed on it, and the indian village, mission, school etc...you can see teepee circles in the landscape.
Ok, I won't waste your time. Enjoyed this very very much. I don't know how I missed the live stream. It's not like I work or anything lol. Luckily I refreshed my feed and there you guys were! THANKS, can't wait for the next round, and of course I still have more to get thru.
    Cheers!
