    Question: at 10:56 why are we subtracting y with 0,072 shouldn't we divide it instead, since m is multiplied with x ?

    I was confused a little bit. for the letter b question, shouldn't i recalculate molar absorptivity with the new given molar concentration (0.65M) as well, before I proceed to the absorbance computation?

    Hello! For my physics class, I had to do an experiment to demonstrate Beer's law. I used a light sensor which gave results on lux (unit of measure for iluminance). Would it be correct to use measurements in lux instead of W/m2 to calculate transmittance? I'm thankful for any help I can get :)

    Laser radiation with a wavelength of 720 nm hits a homogeneous surface with a power density of 1 W/cm²
    Medium. After penetrating 10 cm into this medium, the radiation has only one intensity
    of 0.904 W/cm². Which medium is it? can anyone please guide about this equation?

      chlorophyll amolar mass of 902.5 g/mol absorbs strongly a 660 nm. At this wavelength it was found that a chlorophyll asolussion in acetone of concentration 11 ug/cm^3 in a glass cell of length 1.00 cm transmitted 12.5% of the incident light
      What is the concentration of chlorophyll in mol/L. Determine the molar extinction coefficient for chlorophyll.
      Solution for this problem?

    A sample of K2SO4 of total mass 40.7 g contains KMnO4 as an impurity. The molar absorptivity E of KMnO4 is 1.80 ⇥ 104 L mol1cm1 at 520 nm. The sample is dissolved in 5.00 ⇥ 102 mL of water. Then, 2.00 mL of this solution are placed in a cuvette with 1.00 cm optical path and a UV-Vis absorption spectrum is recorded, displaying a maximum at 520 nm with transmittance value of 18.6%. Calculate the mass percentage of the KMnO4 impurity present in the initial sample, assuming that K2SO4 does not contribute to any absorption at 520 nm.

    1. An analyst determines the concentration of potassium in five replicates of a standard water sample with an accepted value for its potassium concentration of 15 ppm by Flame Atomic Emission Spectrophotometry technique. The results he obtained in each of the five analyses in ppm were: 14.8, 15.12, 15.31, 14.95 and 15.03. Classify the error in the analysis described above for the determination of potassium in the standard water sample as determinate or random. Please help me

    • @johnkennethsayon2854
      @johnkennethsayon2854 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      A determinate error can be further categorized into two: constant determinate error and proportional determinate error.
      Constant determinate error (ecd) gives the same amount of error independent of the concentration of the substance being analyzed, whereas proportional determinate error (epd) depends directly on the concentration of the substance being analyzed (i.e., epd = K C), where K is a constant and C is the concentration of the analyte.

    But I want to ask...what if in another calculation, you don't get the y-intercept to be zero?
    That will make it a problem in relating the absorbance relation with the line relation.
    How do you solve that problem?

      You got the relation between Absorbance and Concentration. So, use that to solve for values of either Absorbance or Concentration.
