These SDCC Lightning collection exclusies look pretty good for what they are. I doubt I'll buy it(a bit too expensive for me IMO) though but that's just me. I'm still interested to see how they'll handle the upcoming Rita Repulsa figure. Also whoever made that parody wedding comercial should get a raise because that was clever. lol
Armored red mmpr is the dino megazord of the action figures. Honestly if Jason had like an mmpr master morpher for every main mmpr ranger power I could see him summoning all the power weapons together and using the power blaster on his own. That genuinely looks really cool and really reminds me how season 1 has probably the best combination weapon in the series with how perfectly everything fits into the blaster. Also because the power axe can become a gun on it's own because of it.
The armored red ranger morpher was only gold in sentai footage and some american footage. In the comic and battle for the grid game, it's silver. So it's not really not accurate, the thing was never consistent to begin with
I think it sometimes looks like he went full on gold dragon morph. But in the episodes, we see its more that Tommy gives his shield to the rangers over their normal costume (so grey belt.) I agree. Not always consistent. I saw a complaint of the black ranger with all gold details and the dragon shield crest. So cool.
Great review. I love how you compare the new stuff with older releases. I was able to get my SDCC 2 pack from eBay the weekend of SDCC for a slight mark up. I'm one of those collectors that wants the new item NOW. And I have also been screwed out of convention exclusives before so I didn't want this to happen again. (I'm looking at you NYCC Fighting Spirit Legacy 3 pack!) I love this figure and the Lightning Collection as a whole. Are all the figures perfect? No. Are some of them missing minor paint details? Sure. But for $20 each, I am loving them. I have every figure released so far (including 6 Putties) and Waves 4 & 5 pre-ordered. I also have the Rita & Zedd 2 pack pre-ordered. The promo pics seem to show Zedd has more paint so I will likely keep whichever one looks better.
Great video and really like the comparisons! They make for a nice contrast with the new figures! Super late but my only concern is with the warped plastic. It's pretty common in most toylines because the way the figures sit in the box and because, probably, they were put there while still warm. I was able to straighten mine with a hairdryer but maybe you should try hot water instead. In my experience it heats the plastic more thoroughly, if that makes sense... Anyway, have a great day and keep the videos coming!
Fantastic review. I kinda keep going back and forth on picking up this set. I just love the armored Red but that shield color is the main thing turning me off.
The shield in the show was not a shiny gold except for the soft foil shield that the American footage used (isn't that the most hated version of it anyways? ) Hasbro's dragon shield seems to me to be the most accurate we've gotten.
Thanks for the info! I'm sure Hasbro are giving us as much as they can for the price point but they've been established in business for so long, this stuff shouldn't be an issue for them.

My big complaint for the lightning collection are the smiling faces, I wish they all had normal faces because it's hard making them fight monsters while smiling

This isn’t really an sdcc set hasbro have made it clear the “sdcc” exclusives are actually con exclusives and will be sold at all cons that hasbro attend. They will also sell a limited amount these convention exclusives through there fan channels. To the us this is pluse to us in the uk that means the collectible stores that deal with hasbro uk (in demand toys, star action figures, comics and cocktails)
Nobody could go to comic con 2020 anyway. Mass sales equal mass profits your gonna need for companies to ride out this quarantine. Give us all the things! I’m actually waiting for Alpha 5 and in-space silver as he was never really made even back in 1997.

Well I have the individual red ranger with no dragon shield and I'm waiting on the individual Gold Zeo Ranger in June to add to my collection.

Great review. A lot of Marvel Legends figures have that warped leg problem too (probably due to the rubber-like pvc material they've used).
