Spices aren’t hard to find in Nepal! You can find them in literally any common grocery store here. Really enjoyed the video, hope you have a great stay in Nepal 🇳🇵 !
@@adamandyaz It's just that when you ask for "spices", most don't know what you're asking for. It's not a word we use for the varieties of spices. 😂 just ask for 'masala', 'chili powder', salt, and whatnot. And too much turmeric my dude. No one uses over 1 teaspoon in daal.
Starting @13:55 is where they had a bunch of spices. Subji masala means it's a combination of several spices made to be put in subji (i.e., vegetables). The shop owner did not understand, I guess.
Actually, lintel should cook in a pressure cooker or a cooktop, that way it will be done in 15 to 20 minutes. when you cook in a regular pot it takes hours to cook, to reduce the cooking time you can soak the lintels overnight if you don't have a pressure cooker. Overall, you guys did amazing.
When I see videos like this I so wish I was there so that I could help you with navigating the market, communication, etc. But I think doing that on your own is the whole point and charm of exploring as tourists for you guys. I love your candid and raw presentation. Great job guys! P.S. Samosas are my favorite :)
I love that you guys are enjoying Nepal and experiencing the true essence of Nepal and nepali culture. Keep it real Adam & Yaz. Much Love from Nepal. P. S. Thanks for showing the beauty of Nepal via your travels. I think more people need to come to experience the himalayan serendipity.
But there has to be at least one curry, veg or non veg and achaar with dal bhat. It's not literally just dal and bhat!! We Nepalese never eat dal bhat literally empty without curry ever. The curries and achar give flavor to dal bhat otherwise its just bland.
I couldn't have imagined an ultra-modern air bnb like this in Nepal. The $100 per night is an absolute steal for this property. I am sure people will pay $200 per night for this property and would not regret it.
I usually Don't comment but after looking at your vlogs really you guys promoting our cultures and there might be some awkward situation as well for foreigners but the way you guys presenting every places in vlogs are awesome..thank you so much for your well warming and kind vlog for nepal 🇳🇵 🙌 ...hoping for you guys to have more subscribers all around the world the way for your genuine informative vlogs 🌎 ♥️...
I didn’t understand why everyone criticizing them not having veggie. But I am very impressed how you guys enjoy cooking n eating dal bhat. It would be much faster cooking dal in presser cooker though.
I’m so glad that u guys actually tried making a DalBhat woohoo even though u’re out of any curry and obviously, bc no more veggies at the grocery. But still, I like the efforts that u cuties made and smartly. We love comfort yet savings is important too. Cheers!
Loved this video. Your content shows variety especially your vegan preferences. Its educational. Glad that I kept up with the channel eversince that first Philippine vlog and not be influenced by detractors saying this couple are complaining too much but its the opposite way around. Hope they get more subscribers
I love watching you both having fun together Adam & Yaz. It's bit kinda weird for the first time though you guys tried well. Love you guys. #Lots_Of_Love #Jay_Nepal🇳🇵 #Keep_Supporting
Pro tip from a chef, use hotter oil for the papad. It should cook faster and then it will be less oily as well. It is brave to cook different types of food! Practice eating with your hands it gets better and easier! Mix the dal and rice together more and pick up a bite size ball in your fingers and push it towards your mouth with your thumb. Happy Travels
This is so much fun to watch you guys enjoying cooking..I want to see more of this kinds of videos..please make next time momo or Pani puri... You can get puri in packet where you can make it in oil like papad..and make Pani with masala you found in market and for paste make potato and use masala and make it..
Hey Guys glad you made your own daal bhat and yes of course papad. Just a tip: next time before you cook your lentils remember to soak it in water for about an hour but if you have pressure cooker you're good to go. Lovely watching your video guys. Have fun 👏🙏
You should cook Daal in pressure cookers to cook it faster. And that's the yellow daal you bought, and there are black daal and other types as well. And you're definitely missing vegetables and curry.
Vegetables are kinda hard to find in day time because they are only out in the morning and afternoon (after4-5pm) to be cooked fresh during dal bhat time. Fruits are easy to find because they can be eaten anytime 😅 Also, you guys got Chana dal which takes a little longer to cook in a pot but in a pressure cooker it only takes up to 3-4 whistle. Next time get Toor or Moong dal, it cooks faster even in a pot😊 and Masala you can buy small packets in any grocery stores. Other than that I really enjoyed the video😊 Have a great time guys
$100 is a VERYY big amount. Dollar value has been undervalued all over the world which makes people think they can’t buy luxury with that amount. Enjoy Nepal!
I carry a camping knife, fork and spoon set so I never have to use my hands. When people question me I nicely say it is my culture and they respect that
Your vibe is so amazing and you both are really amazing cooks. I was worried about some stones in your dal and bhat, we usually have to screen them out before cooking. Also i believe you guys didn't cook vegetables because you couldn't buy it. In that case you can just make some omelette to go with dal bhat. Also you can make papad (popadum) without oil. Just put them on low flame( directly on the flame) and bask them on both sides, taste will be a little different but its still good.
We gave the lentils a really really good rinse before but didn't show it. We had no idea you could put it straight on the flame! 😯 Much healthier, we'll try that next time. Thank you for watching! 😃
Dal is supposed to be cooked in a Pressure Cooker(a cooking pot that traps the water vapor and cookes the food inside relatively very fast). Since dal is a cereal that is rather hard compared to rice hence takes a lot of time if cooked in the pot like you guys used. the only thing that is missing is some vegetable curry or side dish and chutney.
You should be able to find pre packed masala such as meat masala that u can also add in vegetable curries. We even bring them over from Nepal to the UK
There are many types of yellow dals. So you may have had some other type one earlier. And the papads you can cook on the flame instead of frying it in oil

😮😮😮 no way! That explains it 😅
It's like 7pounds per kilo in the UK. I am from Nepal and never dare to buy green chillies in the UK.
They dont give it for free when buying other veggies. Since you bought a less amount of chilly, it cost very little so they give it free
@@fitnessnepal7726 it depends on the sellers attitude
