- Ever wondered what it takes to live off the grid? 🌿 Since leaving the hustle and bustle of city life, we've been constantly learning and improving our homestead. Our latest major project? A game-changing upgrade to our rainwater harvesting system! 💧
In this video, we reveal how we moved the new system closer to our Geodesic Dome and built an innovative collection surface dedicated to harvesting rainwater. Not having a water bill and relying on nature's resources has been one of our most rewarding achievements. 🌧️🏡
But that's not all! We also have a completely offline AI computer with the entire internet stored in a lunchbox-sized case. So, even if the grid goes down, we've got endless knowledge at our fingertips. 🤖📦
Join us on this exciting journey of self-reliance and sustainable living. Watch, learn, and be inspired by our off-grid vlog. Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more updates! 🔔✨

Looking forward to seeing everyone tonight.. Please remember to like and comment before you leave.
Great build Sean, you and Jess should be proud. Keep growing!
❤️☺️🙏 Hope all is well with you...
You guys are great where there’s a will there’s a way! And you are definitely found the way!everything is starting to look amazing !!! Keep up doing what you doing God is watching over you 🙏❤️✌🏼
Thank you so much ☺️ the comments we received really do help keep us motivated..
wow so impressed with your progress Sean on the rain roof. but dont forget once you have all the plumbing in place where you want it to use the blue glue to seal it and hold/fix it in place, last thing you want is it coming apart and losing potential life-saving water . but i understand it maybe some time before its set up exactly where you need it to be or even add more tanks .
wow Jes i never knew you could dehydrate leafy veggies. way to go girl. maybe you should try creating some meat jerky . what ever you have on hand .
Sean well now your thinking like an offgridder with the mini-pc . well done buddy thats a great idea . keep it in a Faraday cage when your not using it incase of a emp .
now all you need is a few more rain roofs and you will have all the water you need . doing well guys
keep up the good work
David from Perth Western Australia
Thanks David ❤️ 😊 🙏 it feels like we are taking some giant leaps forward doesn't it.. As always much love from Tennessee
So cool! so much progress! you guys are awesome and I love your channel! Thank you! Off grid & growing! Keep growing!✨🌿🫶💫
Thank you so much ☺️ things are definitely getting better
You are getting to be such a good carpenter!!
😁 I'm a learning
I just saw your post, but I haven't seen it yet. But if I can say one thing get the black cover for your rain catcher. It will keep the algae from blooming in your container- which isn't easy to clean. But I always love your posts and look forward to them each week.
Absolutely ☺️ we will block the sun out
Appreciate the kind words 🙏 😁☺️❤️
So I always wait until I have only one frame left for them to build out. That seems to work well!! Nice catchment!
❤️ Thank you
I would wait a week to two weeks before adding the other super because the normal gestation period for new larvae is about 11 days, so if the queen is healthy you should see an increase in the colony by then. Also i would suggest a queen excluder between the brood box (bottom box) and the new honey super because it stops the queen from laying drone brood in it, which makes it easier when extracting the honey because you dont get patches of drone brood mixed in with the honey. Looking good and keep on pushing!
I was going to put the extruder on top of the super and let this be another box for more brood? Should I not do that?
Checking it out now, my friends
Thanks Kerry 😉
Proud of you both. You have done so much and thanks for another great video 😊❤
Thank you so much ☺️ we appreciate that
The offline AI computer is fascinating. I never knew such a thing existed until today.
It's definitely a useful tool we like to have on hand
Hey Sean, you did good with the water collection system but as suggested you do need the cover on your storage tank and the glue on the pipe joints is a must. As to the Ai computer, I looked at the website claims which I would take with a pinch of salt... you need to realise that the internet is so huge it is not quantifiable and while there are lots of really good websites it is also full of conflicting information and it is a value judgement as to which information has been selected. To say that you could store all internet information on a 256 GB drive is nonsense. Having said that, the subject headings they listed on the website looked sensible, and as they said, were intended as an offline How To Manual. As such they could indeed be useful to you as long as you realise that while they may be accurate, it is a possibility some of it may be faulty. On a positive note, It is great to see you and Jess progressing with your plans. Keep it up.
I appreciate that and the build is something we are really proud of. As to what you are saying about the computer, the entire internet in text form is actually very quantifiable.. The LLM model that is pre trained has a pretty large knowledge base that I have not been able to stump yet. Now does it have every bit of info on the web? It probably doesn't but look into Orca2, that's the llm it uses.. It's still pretty cool stuff.. Covering the tote is something we will 100% do ☺️🙏 I really do appreciate you..
Your friends
Sean & Jes
Okay, I gatta say that laptop is awesome
It's pretty cool huh
your rain water system is awesome
❤️ Thanks
Nice to see the new water catchment going. I still need an IBC tote and get one built myself. I use white vinegar for cleaning all my carboys and bottles when I brew mead, it's good stuff and have never had an issue. Nice to see the bees going. I got mine a week ago and yesterday was my first 1 week inspection and they are doing well. So great to be a beekeeper again. One thing on your water catchment system I didn't see. You might want to at least add a flush area that you can drain before letting it just fill your tank up. That gets all the gunk that might collect on the roof later after it's been there awhile instead of just emptying everything in the tank. Also, you're definitely gonna want to cover that tote to reduce the chance for algae growth.
Regarding adding a super. I hear 5 frames filled is when it's okay to add a new super. I did with mine after having adding a NUC.
Thanks my friend.. Yea I shoukd add a first flush to it
Enjoying watching your channel
🥰 appreciate that
The love support and positivity of your channel are truly something special. Thank you for a reprieve from the ugliness of the world.
That really makes us happy to hear our content is a good reprieve from the ugliness of what's going on in the world
So many good things happening. Prayers answered🙏🙏🙏The water collection came out great!👍👍😁And yes , a riding mower is the beat way to do a large area. Ive used mine for 10 years now. Be blessed , nice to see Jess had her Mum visit.
It really is making us feel like we have some forward progress here.. It's making us more and more motivated
That computer is awesome
Super Handy
Hey Jess , If the Kale didn't crisp up enough for you put it back in the dehydrator or if you have an oven , just keep an eye on it. Maybe that would crisp them up more. I tried making kale chips in the oven and they didn't crisp up in the time the recipe had said to cook them. So I did them a little longer and ended burning them.. lol. I didn't keep my eye on them lol. Sean awesome job on building the pole barn / water catchment. Are you going to put another IBC and gutter system on the other side? Need to catch all the water you can while it's raining a lot. What are you going to use the pole barn for beside catching water? Im calling it a pole barn cause it's not an enclosed structure. With the water coming to the dome , maybe y'all can get Jess a sink and a washing machine. (Put the washing machine under the dome , not in the dome cause it would shake too much for the dome structure to handle) . Are y'all going to build an outdoor kitchen for Jess to preserve all of her veggies and all the fruit y'all get from the fruit trees or y'all going to work on a better kitchen set up for inside the dome? Cooking in the dome during summer time will make it even more hotter in the dome. Are y'all going to get chickens? Are y'all going to do meat bird chickens (raising chickens to eat)? Anyway I can't wait to see what y'all do next. Have a good week.
I am definitely adding more totes and hope to have everything hooked up this week. Things are definitely progressing but I won't spoil it for you 😁
Your rainwater collection setup turned out great! What are you planning to do underneath it? Keep growing... 😊
Thanks & Store our firewood ❤️
@@OffGridGrowing ... fantastic idea!!
Doing a great job ❤
Thank you Tina 😁
What a satisfying and calming video. Keep them coming.
Thank you! Will do!
Looks like a hell of a strong rain catchment structure.
Let's hope lol
You guys are an inspiration! The ai emergency computer is pretty cool. It's always good to have options and I can see it being very useful in these increasingly crazy times.
Thanks my friend 🙏😁
Water collection will make your lives so much better
So happy for yall ❤
Water to the Dome will definitely make our lives much easier
All is looking great. Garden looks great too. Y'all have come along ways.
Thank you Jo ❤️
You guys should build a cinder block bunker in the hillside next to the dome for bad weather. Bonus you could use it as a vegetable storage cellar…
That's a plan on the list to do
As a prepper, your water collection setup looks great to me. And I am fascinated by the offline AI device. Do you have to connect to update occasionally though? And I agree with you, from all that I have seen your wife cooks you great food. You lucked out there. Great video.
Appreciate it 😁.. It can be updated a few different ways, SD card being the easiest I think.. She definitely is amazing
Im sure you know but be sure to cover thr tank with a black tarp in order to keep the light out of your IBC. The light allows algae growth
Yup its definitely on the list to do 😁
Wholesome 😊❤
❤️
Knowing that big walmart size data centres sprinkled all over the world, to think that you can fit the whole entire internet in that little box is kinda funny 😀
You can find most books in digital format nowadays (even some older ones). The integrated AI is cool thought, if it can give you accurate answers relatively quick.
If I was set out to create something like this, I'd make it so the user can feed it whatever book they want, and when you prompt it with a question, it'd give you a bookmark to read. I'd feel more confident that the information is correct, not just some dumb AI's interpretation of it.
I'll do another video on it but it really is a cool little computer..
Looking good…….
🙏❤️☺️
Gutter guards?
On the list
I think I would still filter before it goes in so will keep all the trash out of what’s going in as well
If not will have sludge in bottom
Just my thought
Probably a good idea
Nice. I'm looking into these types of things. Ive seen a few options but havent seen these yet
It has been pretty useful so far
@@OffGridGrowing the ones i was looking at had offline Wikipedia downloaded on there and other survival collections
Yea those are a bit more limited in what they do.. This is more interactive with the AI
Bake those kale chips!
We don't have an oven unfortunately
Dehydrate a little longer. Those kind of dehydrator aren't that good. I have one called x caliber, works great. It was just a little more then $100. I did have a $1500 commercial dehydrator. I could do 32lbs of meat in 4 to 5 hrs. I used to sell jerky in Tennessee when I lived there. It was called cripple creek beef jerky. 🙂👍
The kind you have works, but it takes longer. Longer then it's sopose to...longer then the instructions say. A tray full of jerky, or basically anything you dehydrate...some pieces will be done, some will take 29 min longer, some a hr longer. They never all get done at the same time.
Yea we gotta get a better one.. Got that at a yardage for free lol
You know it would have been a lot easier to drag that tote with your rider always remember one thing work smarter and not harder, lesson learned 😢
It wasn't heavy enough to go through that lol.. Just kept getting caught on roots 😉
If you like Parmesan cheese, sprinkle some on the kale before dehydrating... let me know what you think when you try it. 😊
Ok gotta try that.. I love parmesan
Comment
😁
Is your place grounded?
Hey thank you soooo much for what you sent us.. it really did help and we are very thankful.. Our dome? It's not but something we are going to do.. The list of projects can be overwhelming sometimes lol
@@OffGridGrowing you’re so welcome and please be safe.
Babies!!!!
😉
Just roll the tote around Roll around one side and roll it around the other sides and then drain it that would be better than just leaving it to fill up with vinegar and water just like a washing machine if you keep rolling it around But then again if it only had soap in it you might be better off to leave it in there because all the gunk that's going to go in there without filtering before it goes in the tote it might keep it cleaner🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That's actually a smart idea 💡
@@OffGridGrowing 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
This "AI" thing is cool and all, but the price is a extream ripoff..$700 for a Pi with a cheap display and keyboard, with free open source software installed..Anyone could build this for under $150 i bet..
But aside all of that, i love watching your Videos, allways a relaxing time.
To someone who has no technical abilities and just wants a turn key solution, I don't think it's bad.. We really appreciate you watching and am glad the vibe is relaxing 😁.. It feels like wecare starting to make progress here..
If this truly is real, and if you can purchase it, you sir have just revolutionized our constitutional republic.
I didn't create this.. I bought it and find it pretty handy.. There is more info at Landstruck.com
@@OffGridGrowing you are my hero Father
Wow you're not putting any filter system on it before the water goes into the tote gonna get awful yucky all kinds of stuff can go on that tank most people screen it before it goes into the tank
Yea maybe I'll make a simple filter to catch some of that yuck stuff
@@OffGridGrowing 👍👍👍👍👍👍😁😁😁
