This feels like something I need for my studies in Japanese, it's nice to learn at my own pace, but it sucks that I don't have anyone I can practice with. If I can work through my crippling social anxiety, I can see myself visiting this world a lot more often in the future.
This is exactly what I have been looking for! I have studying that Japanese language and culture on and off but never really applied myself with the lack of resources available until recently. As an aspiring poligloth, this is gonna be helpful in the future! I'm currently focusing on French right now, and learning spanish should've been priority (I live in latin america). But as soon as I start studying more than just hiragana I'll definitely hop in that world.
I don't really have any motivation to go out of my way each day so just try to incorporate learning Japanese into regular activities like Duolingo on the bus or whatever but I feel that this is definitely something I could be part of. It's not like I'm getting out textbooks and studying by just talking to people within a medium already entertaining enough in itself that people use it just for what it is.

Time to time i run into some Indonesian that goes around spamming "manko" "ochinchin desuki" "anata wa lolicon" in Japanese servers, and then proceed to speak in bahasa indonesia. It hurts to see when i meet these kind of people... People should act online like how they would if they are actually talking to people irl
Sorry if this is bothering you, and you don’t have to answer, but what level of Japanese would you say you should know before hopping in a world? I would like to do it, but I’m not the most confident in my ability to converse in the language at my level. It might seem a bit abstract, but I’m just wondering what’s the point of ‘if you can do this/know this then you’re probably fine joining the world’?
So I just ordered my headset! I’m so excited, however I’m kinda a goody goody and don’t like all the raw interaction of casual cussing and racism. I’ve been on VRChat once yesterday on my brother headset and it was a bunch of children screaming bad words.. 😐 is it possible to find clean chats? Or is that like wishful thinking?
It's a public world, so there are amazing people but also annoying kids. Just don't be afraid to block anyone who is being mean or trying to get a reaction from you. I do it all the time lol You don't need to be an expert to jump in, there are people of all levels! There are also girls if you are more comfortable speaking to them. I'm in the world a couple hours a week, maybe we'll see each other! 😆
