The way he calls Haechan, Big Haechan sent me. 🤣 You are one of my most favorite reactor coz you appreciate Haechan for what he is. Most people sleep on him and focused on their visuals and dance line.
We ALL appropriate another culture in someway, somehow because we live in a global society. Folks weren't mad because of people wearing braids. It became disrespectful when the media started given credit for the popularity of braids like cornrows to certain celebrities and renaming them to boxer braids. Don't erase the culture that it came from. Personally, I have no problem with folks wearing braids. Look at all the tourists that come back from Jamaica with braids. 😂

First, I like what you said about cultural appropriation, as one from the community that typically takes offense to the stylistic choice to wear hair like this. From an outsider, not in the community, though, I do agree that there are more important areas to focus on. I read the news too, about the shootings and whatnot, so I just really like your commentary on the issue. The thing I find most interesting about the issue with the braids is the inequality towards idols on when fans freak out and whatnot. I've read NOTHING about Chenle's hair or any of the YG artists who've done it. But I remember when my man Chan did it for his performance of Zone a few months ago and how many 'fans' canceled him and demanded apologies. I just think, if the issue is going to be brought up, it needs to be consistent? If that makes sense.

You know what's the worst part about kpop stans coming at idols wearing "black hairstyles"? The fact that they don't have the same energy for everyone. When Lisa, Chenle, Yuto (pentagon) and more had this type of hairstyles, people were making coments for like few days and it got brushed off, but when Chan did it they "canceled" him and to this day there's insane amount of hate comments/tweets. These people started to hate on the whole group and still are coming at skz for no reason.

In regards to the cultrual appropreaction thing - it's only Americans getting upset...Not only black people had dreads or wore braids historically - the Mongols, Germans, Aboriginals, Tribes in North and South America did - it could be found globally. As a South African we don't see hair as cultural appropriation - it's a hairstyle, why are Americans so upset about it? They should be happy other cultures like their music and style and wish to immitate it...Why complain?

It took me a while to get into this song because like you said something was missing, but I really like it now. I swear I'd be able to pick out Haechan's voice in a crowd of 1 million people. It's so smooth and unique, I just love it. As for the braids I don't know why but it's never bothered me when other races wear them. I understand why people get upset over it, they have the right to, but personally I couldn't care less about who wears them as long as they're done properly. I just wish they would have completely finished them because it's a hot mess💀💀.

I think the reason there aren’t any comments about the braids is as you said, there are heavier issues to worry about and honestly, I am, and probably other people are, getting sick of trying to bash someone who really doesn’t have a say in their look, especially since he is a baby. Do you honestly think Dream or any K-Pop band is asking for braids and demanding a style of ANY kind? They are told what and when to do everything. They are owned by SM. SM makes the decisions of how they will look and act. And if you can’t grasp that, you never will. K-Pop idols have some of the crappiest controlling contracts of anyone in any industry. Facts.
Now.....as far as any K-Pop management team pulling from cultures, I really don’t think they see the racial tension in the states. I don’t think it’s even on their radar. SM is not wondering about a black man in Compton being shot a million times for wearing his shoes unlaced (or whatever ridiculous excuse the cops are using to justify the violence). K-Pop management teams find a look that they think is striking and run with it. They want a look that will create an impact visually. So please, let’s keep K-Pop idols out of the racial debate. Have you ever watched an interview with K-Pop idols??? They have no idea what’s happening in the world around them. When I watch interviews with K-Pop stars I have to laugh at how oblivious they are to EVERYTHING. They are extremely sheltered and living in a make believe world laid out to them from their label.
