I can't believe you've heard so many of her songs but not her most iconic one, it was her debut and it was a huge hit in Europe and got to number 1 in the UK and it was the first self-written song by a woman to do that! My favorite song of all time, such a masterpiece. Kate was actually called Cathy as a child (her full name is Catherine) and she shares birthday with the author of the book, Emily Brontë! You should read it, it's a classic. There's another version where she's dancing in a forest in a red dress and every year on her birthday people all over the world gather dressed like her and dance together and it's amazing. I prefer this version though, it's way more eerie and haunting, but both are fantastic.

Oh I'm interested in the book for sure and I'll check out the other version out of curiosity. Lol I have no idea how I haven't gotten to this song by now considering how many of her songs I've reacted too. 😅

Kate is again singing in character, as she so often did. She is the ghost of Cathy come back to haunt her lover Heathcliff.

    Great reaction 🐓🔥
For more context, Kate Bush wrote the song "Wuthering Heights" (1978) after watching the 1967 BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) miniseries adaptation of Emily Bronte's romantic, gothic novel. After reading the novel herself, Kate wrote up the lyrics to the song in one night.
Released the following year, "Wuthering Heights" became the first woman-penned track to reach #1 in the UK Top-100 Chart's History. Kate was only 18 years old when she accomplished the feat

Since nobody has mentioned it: Kate Bush shares her birthday (July 30th, 1958 vs. 1818) with author and novelist Emily Bronte of "Wuthering Heights", and her nickname in the youth "Cathy" with the main character Catherine Earnshaw...

Great reaction once again and excellent that you picked up on the Ghostly elements, which I feel come across more in this version of the video "White Dress" than the "Red Dress" version. I will mention a few things in relation to this brilliant song, Kate wrote it on the 5th of March 1977, at around midnight under the light of a full moon. Kate wrote the lyrics before she had read the entire book and it was only when she did, that she noticed that words from parts of the book that she hadn't read were in the lyrics.
In terms of chord changes together with timing variations and overall song structure it was unlike any song in the charts at that time, but then add on top Kate's single take high register vocal performance which made it absolutely unique and resulted in it becoming a worldwide smash hit, reaching number 1 in Australia, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Portugal and the UK. It got to number 10 and above in nine other countries.
The "Red Dress" version of the video became the inspiration for a worldwide annual event called "The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever" which this year was held on Kate's birthday - 30th of July - a date she shares with Emily Bronte the author of Wuthering Heights.
I'm so glad that at such a young age thar Kate fought against EMIs original choice for the debut single "Jamea and the Cold Gun", when Kate did get her way EMI executives thought that "Wuthering Heights" would be a flop and Kate would be taught a lesson, but instead Kate proved that her musical instincts were far better than theirs were! This wouldn't be the only time when Kate had a conflict with EMI.
Here's a KateBushNews fan podcast from 2018 on the 40th Anniversary of Wuthering Heights, which hopefully you will find to be interesting...

I never understood why KB never caught the ears and hearts of the American audiences.
I remember when I was a child in 1978, in a tiny and cold mountainous town in Southern Brazil and this being on the radio like six or seven times a day. Wuthering heights was certified gold in Brazil. It sold almost half a million copies here and Kate became an instant sensation

Wherever you're from sounds amazing! Also, yeah I agree I have no idea why Kate Bush isn't a bigger staple in the US.

I'm quite surprised, that this iconic song wasn't one of those you've reacted to. Can't believe it, because you did so many, thus I'd have expected WH as one of the first three to five reactions (next to RUTH, TWW, Don't Give Up, and maybe Babooshka or TMWTCIHE)...

Wuthering Heights is a staple of British literature, so if you didn't get that and know the story I get why this perplexed you. Again, this is early Kate, at her most whimsical (not my favourite period). Her later recordings are far more complex, much deeper in intensity. Her 50 Words For Snow album (2014) shows how far she came as an artist. Listen to this duet with Elton John -"Snowed In At Wheeler St." th-cam.com/video/CfbC6oDs4N4/w-d-xo.html

I think this is the first time I have actually heard her sing this song. I am familiar with Pat Benatar's cover, though. Haunting song. I take that back, I have seen this. I would love to see you also react to Pat Benatar's cover. P.S. I am sure someone said this already, but Wuthering Heights is a book

Enjoyed your reaction. Love that you picked up on the ghostly quality. I think it helps if you know the original story.
I'm not sure the genius thing gave proper context.
VERY long story cut short - Cathy and Heathcliff are tempestuous lovers but Cathy marries for money. Heathcliff also marries for money and is horribly cruel. Cathy dies and Heathcliff goes off his rocker. He believes he sees Cathy's ghost trying to get in the window. He dies and they are together in death. The End.
Wuthering Heights the book is an English classic but in my humble opinion, the song is much better!
    Love your Kate reactions ❤️

I can't remember the entire story but in the book I am almost certain that Cathy died of hypothermia.
