so beautifull ive never take 130 before only 152 throguh gilroy and and the reservoir!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! since its shorter.
How's the prices over there? Highway 130 just leads into East San Jose. No matter which side you come down from (Evergreen or Alum Rock), you still need to get back onto northbound 101.
Hi, I'm looking to go on this road soon from starting from Alum Rock to Patterson. What is a good time to go? Also, is there any rest stop on the road or no?
Hi. It depends on what you want to see. I think in about a short time from today, it may snow up there at the observatory. If you like snow, you should go between December and March, but I do not know how the road closures work. If you do go on a snowy day, check Caltrans beforehand and let me know how it goes because I'm curious too. If you like to see more greenery, go during the spring, but be careful of slippery road surfaces during the time. It gets cold up there, so after a rainy day, the rain may freeze overnight. Summer yields the best road conditions and grip for your safety, but it's pretty boring, just yellow and brown landscape everywhere. Either way, be careful and obey the speed limit up there, though you can get away doing 10mph over without being too uncomfortable, depending on how you drive and how many passengers you are driving. Have fun.
@@theadventurousdriver6463 I am planning to go in about 1-2 weeks. I want to see the snow at the observatory. So what should I check on to see if there will be snow or not?
@@jovanbains1894 As basic as it sounds, I Google "Licks Observatory Weather". If it does show snow, check Caltrans for any closures. You don't want to pass Joseph Grant County Park to realize they closed down the rest of the way up. There might be some snow since it is raining down here in San Jose tonight and for the next few days.
@@theadventurousdriver6463 It says that it will be snowing till 7 am on Monday. I also checked Caltrans and it showed no road clouseres on SR 130. If I plan to go on 130 at 10 will there still be snow?
@@jovanbains1894Don't quote me on this, but I am confident enough to say yes, snow will still be there. Keep in mind it's very cold and windy up there during the day (bring a thick jacket). Another point of reference. I was up there by bicycle three years ago or so in April. When I was up there at like 3PM or so, there was still what looks like a little bit of ice/snow on the side of the road just before you reach the entrance gate. That's how cold it is up there. What I am trying to say is the temperature might be a couple degrees lower than down here in the city, but it feels a lot colder because of the elevation and wind.
I do not have a commute to and from Patterson, but I think it will be realistically be from 1.5 to 2 hours depending if you're commuting during rush hour because you're guaranteed going to have to head up via highway 5 to 580, then down 680. That's if I count you're going to the San Jose City Hall, not the busier commercial areas. It's a 90 mile commute one way, so I'd reckon you'd be lucky to even average 45MPH from start to finish with some traffic.
I love the telescope place... i wish i could live there one day and study with scientist . I heard a cowboy who found alot gold build that place cause he love space n stars. Prolly because he was on horseback allday watching the evening skies
I took a tour inside the observatory and it was pretty nice. Staff gave a tour of one of the refractors. The man who funded the observatory was a carpenter named James Lick and is buried under the refractor I saw.

How far is it from San Jose to Patterson through there
I think it's 50-ish miles through there. Takes a bit long.
Epic content this road is underrated
Thanks. I like how underrated and let's keep it that way. Just kidding.
Love riding my motorcycle through here.
Very nice. Do you know any other roads like this around the bay area?
So what's the commute time from patterson to san jose?

Fun, but what happened at 11:15? Looks like you got lost…or was that just the end of the road?
Yeah, that was the end of the road. I turned left to go to Patterson and go back to San Jose.

This is way out in the cuts of Livermore.
