I drove this route from San Jose to Patterson a few months ago and will never do it again. The road is too narrow, very few guardrails with certain death drop offs with just one single mistake while driving. My hands started to sweat which made gripping the steering wheel even worse. This road is not a joke and you have to be 100% focused while driving or lose your life with everyone else in the vehicle.
Holy crap at the difference from this video and the current state of the road. That fire from 2 years ago really destroyed what remained of the beauty of this drive. No wonder it wasn't listed in the scenic highway list for CA anymore. Such a shame. All the more reason we all must be careful year round with these droughts.
Interesting how you played Nadia Ali before Fleetwood Mac, being that Nadia Ali is a big Stevie Nicks fan. I like both of them myself. Anyway, I’m new to your channel (subbed), and I enjoy your videos. I’m on the east coast so I especially enjoy the videos of out west. Great work!
Well, thank you for the subscription! Pretty much all of my videos are from out West since that's where I'm from. I'll get out East one day I'm sure. Enjoy the channel!
Very nice video. I remember this road and Quimby Road were both quite twisty when I went up to the observatory last year. A quick question: could you record CA152 and the Pacheco Pass Highway?
I once drove from Patterson off the 5 all the way to mount hamilton then down to san jose it took about 5 hours when we got to the top of hamilton mtn we saw pines groves of them but mostly oak groves
I drove this road a couple weeks ago -- this stretch took me MUCH longer than 17 minutes -- and everything was very green and there were wildflowers blooming. There aren't as many trees as shown in this video, though, and from the park up to almost the top you can see a lot of burned, dead trunks standing. The road condition East of the observatory was very good all the way to I-5. It's a terrifying drive for someone like me who lives in Wisconsin, but I would drive here again.
Looks like a fun drive. Thanx for the ride...
necroslair Thanks for the view and support!
InterstateKyle Elton John was in the movie Kingsman golden circle. I recommend watching it. Comment me back
One of the most aesthetically pleasing videos I've ever watched.

I was just thinking about doing this. I live right where it begins in San Jose and my cousin lives right where it ends in Patterson
Thanks for filming this route...don't have the courage to drive up there...learn of the observatory since 1976 or so...
The most fun way to get between I-5 and the Bay Area is CA 130--although not the fastest or most fuel-efficient!

I used to live on Mount Hamilton when it was a cattle ranch owned by a family named Curly. I was very young and it seemed magical.
Love taking my motorcycle for a ride through 130 Patterson to san jose.
I don't want to drive this road anymore even for fun. This road scared me specially the cliff.
I love this drive. Bummer you had issues on the east side. I don’t remember it being that bad a few years ago.
Great drive and nice road toonz!
Two of my favorite hobbies in one video.
That's quite a drive! The road looks too twisty to go faster than 20 mph, though. And they allow 40!
I did this decent in 8 minutes.excluding the uphill after JDG park. (my friend was a slow climber). Best time of my life.
on a bicycle

AH45 I already have it on film, just waiting to produce it. I already have a schedule release so maybe look for it in 4-6 videos from now.
I'll be looking forward!
This looks exactly like descending from the Palomar Observatory here in San Diego.
Jon Sleeper I’m sure the terrain is similar as well, though more desert and slightly less vegetation? Would love to see a video from there.

Kyle, a great video idea would be US 20 the whole way
Robert Preskop I live right off of US 20 in Illinois. Almost right off the US 20 / IL 53 intersection
I remember people touge down this road! This road can really test your car control!
Loved the video. Thanks
Waaaaw, I drove up that way long long time ago.
Omg. I drove there last week. How can i meet you and say hi at least?

Ive heard santa cruz will not fund this place anymore .. hopeit wont be abondond .. i love to live there
About how long does it take to get to sj from Patterson using this road?
Is it worth taking as a back road to avoid traffic?
The ValleyJo a minimum of two hours
InterstateKyle so it doesn’t save driving time, only distance?
Sad, I think the parks (except the observatories) were wiped out in the wildfires.

When is next live stream
I live very near there
You've got yourself a new subscriber here! Thanks for the video. I would prefer to hear that wonderful Cummins of yours, rather than the music.
John That truck has been sold now for almost 2 years.
Who sings triangle? Can't read it
Nadia Ali
You guys really get blasted with the aerosols...so sad. High pressure systems don't just sit over a state for 5 years.
🤗IS IT MADE FOR SEMI TRUCKS AND 53FT?🍹
No, it is not passable for a semi.
@@AccountInactive YEAH FOUND PUT THE HARD WAY GOT STUCK. LOL. THE DAY I ASKED THIS QUESTION. LOL.
That road is going to be a future cruise road NorCal ThirdGens from San Jose all the way to Patterson.
