    Another thing with "going Dutch". I like to go somewhere as equals. You don't owe me anything and I don't owe you anything. I think for Dutch women it is also a thing that you can take care of yourself.

    I rode my bike in the States... to the mall, to the hospital for clinicals, through the drive-thru, to school, to the movies and grocery store... and once to the airport... the faces of the Americans: Priceless!😂 One of my teachers was like: I saw you riding your bike downtown... my response was been doing that for 4 years. But you were in a cast: well that was 6 weeks (wasn't able to drive as it was my left foot (American size 9.5 men's) and I had a stick shift, couldn't get the clutch to work). Yeah, but it snowed: I answered 3 days 😝🤣😂🤣 in order to get onto the road walking, it cost a lot of energy and was slippery, with my mountain bike I had plenty of traction on the snow, so way easier to get around then walking. Due to knee injury I am unable to ride a bike and have enough speed to balance enough to get forward. On stationary bike I ride against 1 Newton(the lowest possible setting) and if I go higher my knee can't take it...

    i am 100% direct, when i am in a discussion with someone and i disagree with his/her position they hear that directly from me. i don't like wasting time uselessly. sometimes people start shouting or talking louder, then i make it clear to them that very weak in there mind. even my ceo had something like that with me once, after a cooling off period he came to my office and apologized, he made it clear that he appreciated it directly honestly, 1 month later i was rewarded with a promotion because my opinion was clearly better than his and the company had saved a lot of money and he now values my input more. i am 6 foot, and always been one of the smallest kids of the class way back when i was in school. And be prepared, if you make a joke to a dutch person about their length, you will be mocked back! Direct, remember :P When going on a date, i always paid. When in a relation, you rotate or split, depends a bit, also on peoples finances. I can take a friend out and pay for it if i know they dont have finances. And you cant be drunk while being in the streets, not on foot, not on the bike. you might get a ticket, but when you dont make a hassle or stand out in the crowd, then its ok.

    I think most people in The Netherlands speak English at a a2 or b1 level but I think not that many get to the c2 level. but we are not afraid to use it even if we are sure we make many mistakes. Our focus on being able to communicate attitude sees to it that we do use English... even if it is not quite correct all the time.

    I'm a woman and 5,5. Here in the Netherlands I'm pretty small not even average. It's quite sad if you think about it. Also you can get a ticket for drinking and driving a bike. Mostly the police kind of ignore it though. That's why most people who want to drink go by bike. The police only step in, in really bad situations. About the directness and spending your money wisely, that's very true. We just are butally honest and like to spend our own money efficiently. Also everything is quite expensive here, we are one of the most expensive countries in Europe eventhough, we do import stuff we mostly sell our own products.
    Here are also some important things some Dutch people have invented:
    - WiFi
    -Bluetooth
    - the stockmarket
    - submarines
    -telescopes/ microscopes
    - the eye test
    - casettes, CD, DVD, Blue-Ray
    - Fair Trade
    and let's not forget, the orange carrot!

    Even some Germans thought I was very direct hehehehe. But yeah, we are direct. In my opinion it is a good thing, as you do not waste time on things. You hear what you get.
    Nahhh not going Dutch, only double Dutch ;) ;) ;)
    All I will say about the use of soft drugs, a coffeeshop is not a place you go to for a cup of coffee.
    Yes you can drink and ride your bike, however police can stop you and even take your drivers license if you are pissed out of your skull. (Nice expression in English :D ) And before someone says something about this, I actually read this in a local newspaper. It surprised me to be honest.
    If you have training wheels at age 4, the other kids at kindergarten will laugh at you. By that time you should be able to properly ride your bike.
    Tash, you forgot to mention what stereotype you have about The Netherlands, whether true or not.

    Yeah, we do not like to spend money on things we don’t need and yeah, we do like to divide the bill of a meal with friends in portions, but with my friends the bill is always devided by the number of people and never specifically calculated per person. I have never experienced otherwise …
    I don’t think we’re cheap or cringy either, I indeed like the word “efficient” from a previous comment. It’s no wonder creditcards never took off in the Netherlands; the motto over here is: don’t spend money that you don’t have!
    At the same time the Dutch are one of the most generous people on earth when it comes to donations to charities and help organisations …

    Keep in mind with the biking that the key skill is not riding the bike but to do so in busy traffic. That requires quite a bit of experience and without this is actually dangerous. Lots of tourists renting bikes have accidents because they do not understand what they are doing (and some have barely any bike control skills either).

    About the cheapness "going dutch".
    I believe if you're invited on a date, you can expect to not having to pay for it.
    But only if you don't order a much more expensive meal, than the one who invited you.
    Offering to pay for the meal or even just your own part is strongly positive.
    Paying for your own part of the meal, also doesn't obligates you to give anything in return later.
    Women might like that, as they don't feel pressured to have sex with the guy later. XD

    • @jbird4478
      @jbird4478 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I always find this strange. I understand women feel that way, but the real problem there is that guys should not expect anything "in return". If that's what you're after, you should hire an escort, not go on a date. Paying the bill does not obligate her to do anything. You wanted to take her on a date, so you pay for the date. You're not paying her for anything. You're simply covering the expenses of doing what you wanted. It's that simple.

    • @PerfectAlibi1
      @PerfectAlibi1 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jbird4478
      I mean, anyone offering to go on a date with someone, does so for some kind of personal gain.
      Just 2 friends getting together shouldn't have one friend be expected having to pay for all of it, unless the other friend already did something for the other friend before hand.
