You were so polite about this review, more gracious than I would have been. It is careless of them to send you PR that doesn't compliment or work for your skin tone. I remember when this CC Cream came out with only 5 shades. I've not liked the brand since then. Now I always check the shade ranges of brands before I buy from them. Just last week I was looking up something by Pixie. Their foundations come in three nearly identical light ivory shades.
I've noticed in makeup videos the ones with lighter skin tones buy a couple of shades because there are so many that are so close in shades, and those with deeper skin tones buy a couple because they have to mix them for their perfect shade. It makes me angry and breaks my heart.

I remember awhile back I watched a video about how companies don't produce more darker shades because statistically the lighter shades are what make them their profit. So, numerically speaking, if 80% of their buyers are lighter tones.. they are better off making more lighter toned makeup. These companies don't care about the 20%. I stopped giving my money to companies who only cater to light women/men. It's ridiculous.

This foundation makes me look so grey. I’m in the fair foundation color and it makes me look so grey. I’ve even tried the light and it makes me look grey as well.. it’s not just you...
I'm white and it gave me an white cast. I also have dry areas on my face causing shadows. IT cosmetics is not for me. I do agree their brushes are great! Thanks Patricia! As always, I enjoy your videos.

It sounds a brand to avoid no matter your skin shade then.
I love the formula of the CC cream, I think it has the white cast because of the sunscreen but the shade range is appalling. I’m pale but definitely not the palest & it’s ridiculous that the lightest shade is way too dark for me, and even more appalling that there are so few shades for people with deeper skin tones.
I like the formulas of their base products, their shadows are kind of just meh but I love the CC cream and how it looks on the skin minus the white cast & the lack of diversity in the shades
IT Cosmetics has tried me before I got it at Ulta I tried it out and I was looking like Jesus had called me to the upper room. Nope! Never again! 8 shades of ashy knees!

I think with It Cosmetics, they just add a few drops of black pigment to make 'darker' shades instead of formulating something new, so it gets that grey cast (black and white make grey).

It’s most likely because of the SPF 50 sunscreen that’s in it
They also don’t use black or brown pigments. They use a mixture of red, yellow, blue and white.
Sorry, for my relaying of misinformation. That was just something I heard from what I considered a reputable source and it made sense to me. It's likely the sunscreen :)

I am much lighter than you are and I got the tan shade. I can’t even explain what my skin looked like. Just no words. I bought it thinking this brand catered more for the mature skin which it does. The finish was fantastic but the pigmentation around my chin especially turned something strange then the rest of my face looked like I’ve been ill with the most deadly flu! I can’t explain it. Smh

Thank you so much for using your platform to speak on It Cosmetics.... I wanted to love this line so much ,as a darker skin women, I thought the concept of combining skin care was awesome. I’ve tried them 2x over the years and unfortunately, I’ve had to cancel any future orders on both occasions. Each time I politely informed of my reasons for cancelling (lack of color ranges)....

@@marta537 lol I'm not saying you can't complain. I'm saying that in this specific context, it's out of pocket and unnecessary for someone who is pale to insert themselves into a conversation about the lack of dark shades in beauty products. Pale people seem to think that their issue with not finding shades carries just as much weight as the issue of dark people not finding them. The beauty industry has always had a preference for lighter skin. Look across the board at brands whether high end or low end, and you'll see that they clearly have biases and their range of light foundations and concealers runs deep and wide, which they probably only have a handful of "dark" shades with questionable undertones.
I learned in a Lancôme training when they were telling us about the Teint Idole Foundation, the reason they have so many shades catered to people of color is because they use a blue pigment. Blue pigment is the key ingredient to dark foundation BUT the reason why all brands don’t use it is because it’s the most expensive. Concealers don’t contain the same amount of product as a foundation so they’re more likely to splurge on that.

@KindofStephen on Instagram is a cosmetic chemist, he explained that darker shades require a higher pigment to base ratio bc of the richness in color of tan/brown skin tones other wise it’s blends out ashy. This just goes to show they’re not really aware of or making the needs of POC a priority and that’s a shame bc they definitely have the resources to do so.

Hi Patricia, you hit it just right, the sunscreen is causing that white cast. I’ve been in dermatology now for 12 years And we really have to check it to make sure that on women of color that you don’t use sunscreen that will cause that cast. Just to put it out there Neutrogena makes a great daily moisturizer with sunscreen called Healthy Defense that does not give Women of Color that ashy cast, I love it. Enjoy all your Vlogs, feels like I’m a part of the family.
There is also the cover fx broad-spectrum spf 30 sunscreen. There are also two from supergoop that don't give you a white cast either. It's because they use only chemical sunscreen ingredients (zinc oxide is very white).
In japan they have clear gel sun screens that dont leave a white caste, and feel like a light weight watery gel. It’s amazing! Amazon might carry some options.

I am extremely pale and still find that this foundation just looks...off on me.I have tried and even mixed like three shades and it always looks sort of filmy on me, like there is a layer of greyish almost green-y stuff on me. I also am not a huge fan of the texture or the finish or the way it wears and clings to texture. So just all around a bad one for me.

I have on a foundation with 35 spf and I don’t look gray what so ever. So u can’t use that as a excuse. It cosmetics simply does not want to put in the time and research to fix and expand their shade range. There I said it.

AngelaLavie there is only a 1% margin between spf 30 and spf 50. What I am saying is if they lowered the spf of the C.C. cream to 35 it would dramatically help with the color.
I think it's the physical sunscreen they are using.....and it's SPF 50.....which is really strong.

Physical suncreams tend to sit on the skin and leave a white cast compared to chemical ones which sink in. So I'd imagine the spf 50 is the reason for the weird colour.

Cíara Dunphy I was going to say the same thing. Its definatley the sunscreen in the foundation that is giving the grey tint. Which is probably why the company might find it hard to make darker shades of foundation.

I find it helps when you get very close to a mirror but looking into it as sideways as you can, if that makes sense. And then you put the lense onto the white of your eye. This way you see everything and you’re in control but you don’t have to stare at your finger getting closer and closer to your eye haha
