    Hey Hans! Thank you for the great video!
    A friendly update notice from a Squeezebox user: Logitech Media Server is in the process of being renamed to Lyrion Music Server coming with version 9.0.0.

    Hello Hans, thank you for this great review. Do you think that is now time for me to replace my SOTM SMS 200 Ultra Neo (with the SOtM sCLK OCX10 clock) for this opticalRendu Deluxe so I can have some degree of improvement?

    • @TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel

      I can't say. It has been a few years indeed I used. the sMS_200 Ultra with sCLK. And my reference setup 1 has drastically changed. Sorry.

    great video Hans. Is there a cause for using an audiophile network switch and/OR the ether-regen with the rendu?

    Hi Hans, did you try to use the M2 as dac for this sonore/green computer setup

      The Grimm MU2 is almost fully insensible to pollution on the ethernet.

    Hi Hans, love your content. I have a somewhat general hypothetical question. I have a Mac-mini connected to my DAC via USB. I’m interested in separating the Mac-mini and DAC with a network solution as per this video. In your experience and in general terms would that result in a similar/better/worse SQ to using a DDC connected to the DAC via i2S instead (assuming using components of similar quality/cost)?

    • @TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel

      I don't think there is one general answer to those questions. I prefer network bridges since I have reviews quite a lot of them and am sure about the safety of that choice. But perhaps the same or better results could be obtained with a DDC.

    After watching most of your videos I'm left wondering what jitter is introduced to the digital signal from the router.

    • @TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel

      It's not jitter that is intrduced by the router, it is pollution in the 'digital signal' that in fact is an analog square wave signal used to encode logic information. The pollution, like noise, DC shift and phase noise, are no problem as long as the info is in the 'digital domein'. But once at the digital to analog converter, jitter will be the result.

    • @leach720

      @@TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel Then, isn't the digital signal already being polluted in the router before it gets to the optical module?

    • @TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel

      @leach720 correct. The opticalRendu cleans it up

      Great explanation, thank you! If I do not use a computer, only an integrated streamer/DAC with streaming services, does this combination make sense in this scenario too? As far as I understand the network bridge is not needed in this case and I wonder if adding fiber optics will bring additional value to a system that is already galvanically separated through an audio grade switch.

    • @TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel

      Most likely but also your computer and stray magnetic fields and so on can cause pollution

    Hello Hans! Thanks for the review! Did you compare using the etherregen in front of the opticalrendu insted of the optical module? Would be interesting to know if there is a differense. (As a user of etherregen with a microrendu looking for an upgrade)

    • @TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel

      Of course not. I was reviewing the opticalRendu not any combination of related gear.

    I use the previous versions these and have enjoyed them; but advances in digital reproduction continue. l do understand your reluctance to compare the "1.0 version" to the new deluxe versions--given changes in your reference systems and hearing acuity--but I would be interested in your thoughts about how the deluxe versions compare to Magna Mano you have reviewed not that long ago; I think the Magna Mano in your 1b reference system. Are you inclined to replace the Magna Mano with the opticalRendu Deluxe in that reference system? Also have you replaced your NUC with Small Green Computer's Sonictransport i7 (I see it appearing in this review roughly at minute 14?)

    • @TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel

      I will keep the SonicTransport. Whether I will keep the opticalRendu I don’t know yet.

    Question. If I do not use a USB connector to the DAC, could I use Sonore optical module with the GrimmAudio Mu2 or other integrated streamer/dac that has a RJ45 input connection? My understanding would be to use 2 optical modules i.e. network switch RJ45 out to Sonore optical module - fiber - sonore optical module - RJ 45 - streamer/dac MU2. I would not use the Sonore OpticalRendu in this set up. Could that work and would it make a difference in sound quality?

    • @TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel

      That would work in the sense that it will play. But the real sound improvement is in the opticalRendu. BTW The Grimm MU2 is almost fully insensible to pollution on the ethernet.

      @@TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel Thank you so much for your honest opinion. I just love the MU2, it replaced my combo Innuos Zenith Mk III and Aqua LaSquala DAC. I also purchased 2 Ayre MXR-20 monoblocks (great deal used) and the MU2 acts also as a pre-amplifier. The only weakness remaining could the internet feed, which explains my question
