Lest We forget,The Brothers couldn’t get their art out as the White radio stations refused to play our music in the ‘60’s so We were well grateful for this era,it showcased the start of something but it came to an end with MTV.
At least some people still understand :-) we kind of feel privileged to know these things lol. Enjoy this great music everyone 🗽👍 it's like our own little secret. I'm tired of trying to explain to others :-) you can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink right? Absolutely fantastic music from that Time 💓🙏🕊️💯🌎👍
It's awesome how this generation can type in any song and bring it up instantly but nothing will beat that feeling of your song finally coming on the radio and you having a cassette ready to record it.
And then the DJ is talking over the beginning and/or end of the song; or my sister and I would forget we were recording and ruin it by talking in the middle of it! 🤣 No matter what, we had way better music back then, no matter how we had to listen to it!
Love it, this was my favorite lineup of EWF, with Maurice White, Philip Bailey, Verdine White, Al McKay, Larry Dunn, Andrew Woolfolk, Fred White, Johnny Graham, and Ralph Johnson. This was their classic period.
EW&F were SOOO good. No sequencers, no Auto-tune - just awesome musicians and singers, all playing real instruments live and getting down with their funky selves.
Thank Heaven we still have this awesome music to listen to...Sadly music of today is just not the same. We lost some good musicians lately. RIP Maurice.
"Sadly music of today is just not the same." The laziest sentence on far too many youtube videos. You're implying that music in that decade had no bad artists, which it definitely did, and that music today is objectively worse, which it's not, you just won't take the time to look. RIP Maurice still
@@greysautumn398 Disagree about the 'laziest' assertion. Find me another R&B band in the last 20 years that can equal the totality, soulful medley & brilliance of Earth, Wind & Fire? Who, Jay Z?? Puulleeaaaase. It's not just R&B that has largely sucked over that time, but rock 'n' roll, as another example, ABSOLUTELY PALES today vs. the brilliance of bands like Led Zep, The Who, Clapton, Stones, Pink Floyd, Hendrix, etc. If anything, the 'laziest' label could be used on MANY of today's (alleged) musicians, as with all of today's computerized sounds and technology, it seems that today's musicians don't have that RAW and genuine love of LEARNING how to play/write great music. That's why we don't get the brilliant groove of a band like EW&F nowadays.
I love seeing Verdine White in this video! He is rarely holding microphone as back up vocal even until now. He energise the band in every live shows even from the early beginning of its popularity. I really love this legendary band! Great!
This song is my kids' school song. It's a public school that is a magnet school for kids interested in arts of all types from visual arts, music and performance. It's so fun to watch kids in 2018 dancing their hearts out to Earth Wind and Fire. ❤️
as a young African American I listened to soul music (ie James Brown, Chilites, Motown, etc), around age 11 my oldest brother turned me on to Jimi Hendrix and from that point on I really only listened to rock music. At age 15 EWF dropped 'that's the way of the world' and my life changed forever..an overwhelming epihany occured. Almost over night I returned to soul. Their next 5-6 albums guided me through young adulthood. Listen, IDGAF what background you come from-EVERY kid needs to hear music with uplifting, encouraging messages, ...because like Maruice says in 'All about love': ..."and if there ain't no beauty you gotta MAKE some beauty; have mercy-listen to me yall!"
Soul Train and The Midnight Special were my favorite music shows, followed by Supersonic. American bandstand was ok. EWF best band ever as far as I'm concerned.
Earth, Wind & Fire have always been a favorite of mine. I was jamming to this song before I was a teenager. Congratulations on the Kennedy Honor Award! ❤
Live concert to see Earth Wind and Fire on ABC's in concert 1975 if anybody has that download it it would be one of the most watched Earth Wind and Fire concert on TH-cam check it out if you can I got it on cassette
Love Love this... I woke my kids up to this jam when they had an important test or event to remind them how much they are loved. Thanks for the jam Maurice.. RIP
Man these guys had something special. Maurice started in church so of course the spirit of God propelled him out. He took the music and custom made it. Did he ever go back into the ministry before he died? Does anyone know? Brilliant spirit of excellence!
EW&F bringin' it *live* on The Midnight Special tv show. I sure wish there was more live (not lip-synched) footage available of the band from around this time in the 70's.
Just saw EW&F on July 1 at Sioux City, IA, "Saturday in the Park" music fest - THEY ABSOLUTELY ROCKED!! Phillip Bailey can still hit those high notes and the band was on fire!! They had the crowd in the palm of their hand! If you get a chance to see them - do it!
Saw them 16 at San Diego Sports Arena with two 18 year olds in 1975. As a musician, the bass playing was newly free. Temptations and Sly Family Stone child. Wonderful!
Wow another GREAT one gone I grew up with EWF as a young teenager I saw every concert that they performed in the Washington DC and Maryland area, EWF was a group in the 70's before their time one of the best live bands ever in which you don't see a lot of these days live bands. RIP Maurice White you will be missed but your music will last a live time as it has. Love U!!!!!!
This is one of my favorite songs by them Ever! It just has such a pleasant feeling to it. It tells one that anyone can shine, and that is a powerful, positive message.😁
That brass and indestructible African beat, AWESOME 🎼🎶🎵🎸 I'm proud I grew up in the 70s
Me too!
Back when the biggest stars were on free television playing real instruments live. What a time and an era, The 70s and 80s.
agreed

u gotta listen to the song September song now 😂😂😂😂 it's the rule
Amen and Right On , 60's and 70's !!!!!!
It's awesome how this generation can type in any song and bring it up instantly but nothing will beat that feeling of your song finally coming on the radio and you having a cassette ready to record it.
Oh yeah I know exactly what you mean. Heck even you didn’t have a cassette tape or recorder just hearing it coming on the radio! 💝
And then the DJ is talking over the beginning and/or end of the song; or my sister and I would forget we were recording and ruin it by talking in the middle of it! 🤣 No matter what, we had way better music back then, no matter how we had to listen to it!
Amen!
Or the feeling when someone came in and interrupted your recording
😂 thats right..
So unbelievably good
Love it, this was my favorite lineup of EWF, with Maurice White, Philip Bailey, Verdine White, Al McKay, Larry Dunn, Andrew Woolfolk, Fred White, Johnny Graham, and Ralph Johnson. This was their classic period.
I agree
Phenix Horns: Don Myrick, Louis Satterfield, Rhamlee Michael Davis & Michael Harris. Then once Jerry Hey got ahold of them, it was all over!!!
Los mejores, los amo!
I used.to go to the performances of The Midnight Special!
0:30 Verdine is a goat
No auto-tune and just on stage cause you look good. Midnight Special was always good.
Real talent. Real hair. Real music.
Real Good!
Real Good
real hair lol
Real Hair! That is straight up original.
Real Good!
EW&F were SOOO good. No sequencers, no Auto-tune - just awesome musicians and singers, all playing real instruments live and getting down with their funky selves.
My all-time favorite band...always, always, always an upbeat, positive message to people. I miss Maurice White.
I love how much more funky the live version sounds than the studio version. The studio version is perfect but I like the funk of the live version too.
Best two concerts I ever saw were 1) Earth, Wind, and Fire and 2) Earth, Wind, and Fire.
Lucky brat 💝. I was too young to go only being 10. Parents did not let you go to shows at least my Mom didn’t. It’s too ridiculously expensive now!
Saw them in NOLA! they kicked ass. And the brass section was outta sight!!!
Add Kool and the Gang to the mix and you will be cooking with hot grease
Maurice White is truly missed every day his beautiful voice is heard
Earth, Wind, & Fire were great performers in funk, fusion, and jazz. Great song, by a great group.
Thank Heaven we still have this awesome music to listen to...Sadly music of today is just not the same. We lost some good musicians lately. RIP Maurice.

@@mikes3827 I know this is a three year old comment but God bless you for explaining to the snotty children.
I just like to cuff 'em upside the head.
R.I.P. Maurice White. Thank you and Earth, Wind & Fire for the EVERLASTING groove you gave us!
No star shines brighter than Earth Wind & Fire’s .......!!!

Totally agree

I guess it was in the 90's
I think that Seattle Grunge shit is when it shifted IMHO
El grupo que jamas sera olvidado por su grandeza EWF
Real talent, real musicians and real music. Unlike the crap they pump out today. Most talented band of all time!!!
SoulFunk the best music ever
Just saw them in concert in Toledo Ohio, was epic and my best concert of any music group so far.
