    Elizavecca is a Korean brand. As an Asian woman (Chinese) I think their choice to talk about pig skin is very intentional for their audience because most Asian girls are taught by our mothers, grandmother, aunts etc.. growing up that pig skin is great for our skin. Most Asian girls especially those of us growing up in Asia are use to regularly having soups and meals that include pig/cow/chicken skin, feet and bones for the collagen. Love grossing my American friends out with some chicken feet soup 😂

      The person aphrodit or w.e says she's disgusted, I wonder if she has ever research what's on the "delicious" foods she gets at McDonald's or any other fast food chains? 🧐 Hum interesting 🤔 Ever wonder why asian population are more healthy and don't suffer from obesity as much as american population does?

      If we eat jello, why is pig collagen any different 🤷🏻‍♀️

    Actually, Ceramides can improve strength and smoothness. There was a Ceramide treatment from Matrix that worked really well. If protein is properly hydrolyzed and combined with other agents it can temporarily ‘Glue’ the split together and travel up the split to the interior and reinforce the hair close to the split to reduce or prevent new splits.

      I used the featured product for the last 2 yrs. Tried olaplex 1&2 then follow up ever other week with an olaplex 3 tx. These products are nothing alike and do different things. Humectants and silicones etc are great. They’re like a softening lubey coating for the hair shaft. However proteins aren’t like that. I’ve had highly porous hair with unevenly damaged cuticle for a while now and proteins feels less like a coating and more like… spackle on a dented wall lol. It’s not going make the wall Not Dented but it fills in the gap

    I tried this product after watching this video, and it was exactly what my hair wanted. Thanks for the recommendation! I have long, fine, low to medium density and low to medium porosity 2A wavy hair, and this made it super shiny and soft but more substantial. My ponytail also feels a little thicker. I didn’t think a protein treatment was right for me, since I kept seeing it recommended for high porosity hair, but another barely-wavy blogger mentioned that fine hair can benefit from the extra support, and that was definitely my experience.

After searching TH-cam for hair care advice and seeing that a leave in conditioner of sorts might be better than anti frizz products .I found that (leave in product) to be best for my hair. It doesn’t weigh it down or are it look greasy either. I also wash my hair every day….I use a very small amount of the CER-100 maybe a nickel-quarter size as well because even though my hair is really long, it’s thin so minimal product is best.

    I don't know if it's already been said but in case anyone is curious, most collagen is from bovine sources (cows), in 'western' products especially, unless stated it's from a 'marine source' then it's from fish.
    I don't know if there is a vegan version of collagen as of yet, but I could be wrong.
    I'm also glad this brand chose to talk about where they source their collagen because whether a brand tells your or not, it's likely still from an animal. Better to go in with eyes open. I think we sometimes forget what collagen is, which is a protein found in joints and skin (it's why we want to put it on and in ourselves).

  • @lpgilber

    Just watched another TH-camr complain that this dried out her hair. She was obviously using it too much and not following up with a moisture mask (if she saw dryness) and proceeded to tell her reviewers that it doesn't make sense to buy this if you have to get another mask for moisture. There are so many other purely protein masks that are more expensive and you still have to follow up with moisture (especially for us curly girls). I love how you do your research before making a review that might not be truly factual thus giving wrong information about a product.

    My favorite conditioner is the Renpure Coconut Cream Nourishing Conditioner, then Elvive Total Repair 5 Power Restore Multi Use Treatment. The latter does have isopropyl alcohol and 1 sulfate ingredient, but the dimethicone and glycerine at the top of the list make me risk it. I may add this to my post-shampoo treatments, in place of the Elvive. I, too, have very long, thick hair and will go through it quickly but that's true of any "mask" product since they all come in small packages.
    Do you think you could ever do a "Gently critique my viewers haircare products" video? People send a pic of their hair, tell you what their concerns are, what they use, and you can say "take that out, try this instead, this is good"...? I'd LOVE it.

    There are so many new products claiming to help with bond repair - I would love to see your take on these to sort through the overload! Living Proof Triple Bond Complex, Bumble & Bumble bond repair line, Alterna Bond Repair, Fekkai Super Strength. Same goes for scalp serums: Living Proof, Grow Gorgeous, Briogeo, Sunday, etc. Clearly these are trending but.....do any of them work? 🤣

    Funny but I have this. I had an instinct to buy it as my hair is so dry and frizzy and this came up as a suggestion. I had also been intrigued by the "Milk Piggy" skincare line on Stylevana. I have used this product twice and no magic, nothing like Olaplex of course, it was ok. Going to try again on wet hair as I used it on dry hair and recently clarified my hair. Thanks for all the good info as always!

    Hi Abbey, I hope you are well!
    I just wanted to ask you a quick question about the best shampoo to use with the k18 mask - I know k18 do their own shampoo range but I would prefer not to spend so much so I have been looking for a similar shampoo that cleans the hair well without any oils or moisturising ingredients that would prevent the k18 from penetrating the hair.
    The only shampoo I have been able to find contains citric acid which I know you say is good for smoothing the cuticle but it also contains sea salt and I thought this may not be so good for my dry/damaged hair as I heard it can do the opposite and dry hair more and open the cuticle (but then this may be good for the k18 to penetrate the hair better?)

    I simply crack an egg and wish it. Then apply the protein egg treatment twice a month. Leave it in for 30 minutes then wash out. Eggs are cost effective, packed with vitamins and minerals, plus has protein. I highly recommend it

    • @InimeKai
      @InimeKai ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I've read that the size of the protein molecules in eggs are too large to actually work as a protein treatment when applied to the hair

    I just ordered the Olaplex products for my hair type based on this review. I have not heard of the brand before listening to you. My hair is graying and the gray is really stiff and straight. I had chemo in 2016 and I did not even get chemo curls! My hair is straighter than it was before chemo. It's crazy. But it is really dry and thinning. Not sure if the thinning is because of the drying and breaking. (Sounds so lovely.) I do use Vegamour for the thinning and like it. I used Active and I think it really dried my hair out worse than it is without it. So, I am back to Vegamour. Also, I got my thyroid under control and my diet. (D, B6, B12, Selenium, Methyl Folate - NOT FOLIC ACID, and various other vitamins.)
    Beauty is not for the faint of heart, but thank God for people like you that go out and review products.

    Unless you are vegan the use of animal collagen isn't a problem and in fact uses parts of the animals that are wasted in meat production!

      No not all collagen out there is from Animals but most unfortunately . There are options out there that we should be leaning towards . There’s reasons cruelty free and vegan products are being demanded more as people decide to get informed on the realities . These costs aren’t worth it for just a cosmetic product and hopefully brands continue picking up on the demands and keep changing and updating their output .

    • @gracenagel
      @gracenagel 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      From what I understand, collagen is connective tissues from animals. "Vegan collagen" is more like nutrients or chemicals that stimulate collagen growth in the body, but not actually a vegan source of collagen.

    • @karikelly2797
      @karikelly2797 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Maybe I’m not remembering microbiology/bio chem well, but I don’t think that molecules as large as collagen survive the digestive process, so they can’t be deposited in your skin via consumption. That is to say, I don’t think collagen supplements (vegan or animal) have been shown to increase collagen levels in skin (or hair) when swallowed in any form. I’ve been out of college for a while and am not a cosmetic chemist (inorganic is my jam) so it is possible that I have forgotten my biochemistry.
