Mostly the irrational waluigi fanboys (his normal fans acknowledge that daisy didn't steal his spot and although they are disappointed they are at least happy for daisy.) who are salty about her status as a fighter in smash, granted she's an echo fighter however being a fighter in smash is still a huge deal no matter how you look at it.

I honestly don’t care about Ridley. I’m not part of the smash community so I guess that has something to do with it but I just don’t see why a meme character making it in smash is all that exciting no matter how big he is. When I was introduced to the meme I just said why don’t you make him smaller then? And my friend says that’s not gonna work. 🤔
Nick Revetta Ridley became a meme because the creator of smash bros couldn't figure out how to put him into smash at the time, comments he also made with the villager and Pac-Man . Ridley as a character is definitely not a meme, as other than samus, he is the series most recurring and recognizable character/villain, and is the perfect rep for metroid.
Daisy is irrelevant they said, she’s not loved they said.
Japan seems to have it right though cuz she’s so popular there I’ve heard but not as much in the States or anywhere else. So big thanks to Japan for pulling so much of the weight for us!

They said it was impossible, they told us we were crazy, they doubted that daisy would ever escape the spin offs and get into a major game... They were wrong! For years we daisy fans have held on to hope and fought on despite the odds and we finally won!

At first it did however after some time smash bros became such a huge series that it's practically on of Nintendo's main franchises so getting a spot on it's roster is a pretty big deal, just look at pit before brawl pretty much no one remembered him after brawl he became a popular character and finally received a second game on the 3ds.

I always loved Daisy more than Peach and her personality and sassiness. Daisy will be my favorite out of all the Echo fighters! Can’t wait to kick butt with her! Daisy has ascended beyond Kart Racing, Parties and Sports and trained in the Boxing Rio 2016 games to earn her rightful place as a fighter in Smash, plus she also has her own unique idle animation unlike Dark Pit and Lucina. To be in a game such as Smash is really exciting and I look forward to maining/pocketing Daisy and going against Amazee-Daisy Mains once the game releases. Daisy is right where she deserves to be. I also hope Nintendo brings back the concept of Sarasaland for a future Mario game.
I have to agree. I don't think she could have been anything more than a clone, as she just doesn't have enough to work with for a unique moveset, but this definitely solves that problem. And it'll give he surprisingly large Daisy fan base something to do. I'm also glad that the arguments are over. And since she's an echo fighter, and not necessarily stealing a spot on the roster, I don't think we'll see many complaints from Daisy haters either.

I hate how people who want Waluigi hate on Daisy like she stole his spot. If anyone stole Waluigi’s inclusion it’s Ridley. Nintendo is doing lots of fan service with this game. Lots of people who wanted Ridley also wanted Waluigi (and K Rool). A lot of us who wanted Daisy don’t really care about those other two. Nintendo is trying to cater to as much of their audience as possible, not just please one certain type of fan.
Actually, it's the Piranha Plant who many believe that took Waluigi's slot due that both are Mario characters, Sakurai gave us the Piranha Plant, a character that no one asked for, except Introspecktive.

I think this video helped remind me that outside of cute characters like Toad and Yoshi, Daisy is probably one of the most popular, if not THE most popular character in all of mario for female fans of the series (not to say she didn't have male fans too). When i look back at mario party, kart, or any of the sports, i notice how frequently she appears over peach or other picks. Perhaps this was a very smart addition in the end, since it helped bring joy to a series of fans that mostly sticked to the smaller mario spinoffs. The more people, the better, and if this brings new players in, i'm glad to see it here.
