- This is in Kharader, one of the oldest parts of Karachi where I grew up - and so did the founder of Pakistan (M Ali Jinah). At PKR16.00 (USD0.20) this is surely one of the cheapest burgers in the world. A lot of people in my family and friends, including me, believe this may also be the tastiest burger in the world.
The patty is made of potato and vegetables, then dipped in battered egg and pan fried in vegetable oil. It's then put in a traditional bread with sauces made of yogurt and mint, and lots of onions. Mostly healthy stuff except for the oil, but not the most hygienic in the world :)
I have seen this stall sell exactly the same burger since I was five (1970). As kids, we used to buy from the old man who died a few years ago, but his son has taken the family business to another level by taking up a small room behind the stall which can seat up to 10 people. He sells an estimated 2000 burgers a day!

Phuong Le I do understand some other people's concerns on health that some street foods are not cleaned or sanitized. Of course! There are some street food kiosk are aware of hygiene and they served fresh no matter what.

a trained chef of 10 years i can say some of the best food in the world is cooked liked this in the street and eaten with the hands if these patrons got the shits they wouldnt be in business would they. Also have some respect for other cultures just because we have lost ours in the west its no right to offend others who have not.

***** Allowing patrons to eat right next to the preparation areas, handling money and returning to the food without washing hands, not to mention their whole preparation table was a complete mess. It's a golden rule of food service, always clean as you go. They put people's food on that filthy table that probably hadn't been washed all day and properly sanitized in god only knows how long.

I have watched this video a few times I am sure that knowing our standards of hygiene some people will always have something to say if his food was not good he would have no customers and he does have a lot of customers he seems dedicated to his job and he is not stealing or begging that says a lot to me he works very hard and I say good luck to him and remembering he is doing this all for his family

Loved the food streets in Pakistan when I travelled there last year. The Kachoris, Samosas, and even the ''Anda'' (Egg) Burger from a very similar stall like the video above were tasty as all hell. I look forward to going back there again.

Nowadays many of these burgers are very cheap and bad quality where they fill it with daal tikki (not using meat or using meat in very small quantity). It doesn't have to be unhygienic. The same food can be made properly.

Ive been a fry cook since I was 14 years old (now 34) and I have to say that this guy has an economy of movement and rhythm that is very impressive.Its not an easy job and a truly good fry cook takes many years of training and experience.
This is so fascinating to me in so many aspects. The culture, the food and the hard honest work. It's like I'm a fly on the wall watching all this. It's very mesmerizing.

I've never been to Pakistan, or the middle east/south east asia but I love trying new foods. Honestly, this looks damn good to me! People who are critical of this are just being ignorant. Food doesn't need to be fine dining to be good. A lot of the times street vendors and "holes in the walls" have WAY more flavour than your average Bar and Grill type restaurant.

to settle this ridiculous squabble: of course, this place is a bastion for all sorts of potential food borne illnesses; however, if you are from this part of the world your system is undoubtedly accustomed and acclimated to this type of gastronomic debauchery and you'll be able to handle it...if you're a westerner, prepare to be parked near a toilet for the next couple of days and sip plenty of fluids....preferably purified water (gatorade or some kind of electrolyte replenisher).

They put bones and brains of animals inside the burgers. No, really! Look it up! The chicken nuggets are made out of bones,brains, eyes and other useless and unedible parts of the chicken. The melt it, add colouring, additives, salt and god knows what nuclear chemical they put in there. Then they make it little ball like shapes (nuggets) and they deep fry that melted shit. I mean JESUS! And you get fatter 5x faster eating that shit than eating one normal burger!

Doubtful. If you compare food poisoning in the US compared to countries that have food stands like this, US has a much higher rate of food poisoning at public places than this. It actually has to do with the chemicals everything is drenched in to "clean" it and all the processed crap we call food. This is real food made not that differently than would be made in a home, just on a slightly larger scale. When you cook at home do you wear s hair net and gloved and soak everything in "sterilizing" chemicals? No. You probably even taste the food and stir it with the same food you just had in your mouth right?
