Simple y funcionable. Yo lo he hecho varias veces. Se puede utilizar cualquier NPN de mediana potencia (tip 31c, tip 3055, tip 41c, Z44 (mofet), etc.) y funciona bien. Poner discipador de calor y es preferible que la resistencia sea 5W o mas, pues se calienta.

Clever use of LC oscillator... its good to know the inductance of the secondary winding (in this application, its primary) for precise voltage/current and frequency. If frequency is high, the output voltage may also be very high.

It is just a bistable oscillator but with only 1 transistor,use high power resistor as the gate of the transistor is charged with high power so resistor may burn in long use
