    Not only more powerful, but more economical. Great engine. I swapped M57D30 (135 kW) in my Range Rover to M57D30TU2 (210 kW) plus manual box from X5. Lovely engine.

    Just run into this 2year old video :) and briefly You mentioned cruise control... how did You managed to sort it out?

    Hats off to you and engineering skill! I have a Td5 130 i use for treework but afraid it is woeful when fully loaded up with logs..🙄

      Get the ECU sorted and a bigger intercooler and it will be just fine. I’ve got a TD5 disco with around 175hp and it pulls a big Ifor William loaded up just fine!

    I have an e91 325d and have to say the M57 is a legendary engine, 270bhp and still averages 40+ mpg and on a long journey will return 55mpg.

    Well done guys, you give me that spirit, I want this engine for my Isuzu KB260 which is petrol, man I am going to do this.

    Wow! I barely see any vibration on your truck. I bet it is significantly more comfortable than a 300tdi. That engine is creamy. What did you do for gauges in the speedometer? Any update video on this?

      Hi, I'm not sure about the Shogun but I would suggest you try Max Wiseman from Wiseman engineering.

      Hi Luc, did you get this project off the ground yet? Am considering this swap myself, the 4D56 is not doing enough for me! I imagine you are following Dan Allen’s L200 M57 swap too

    Hi Liam, I am embarking on a similar project with a L200. Did you use ĺ all of your wiring loom from the car or did you create your own? Would you be interested in selling a reduced loom if possible?

    • @liamchallis
      @liamchallis  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I found an ECU pinout online and I created my own wiring loom using the plugs/connectors from the doner car.

  • @tristancouedel
    @tristancouedel ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Liam, very nice project!! I woulld like to do the same with my Classic RR, How did you coupled the six speed GS6-53DZ manual gearbox to the Land Rover LT230 transfer box? Have you got a contact to find someone to help me about that ? Do you know people who sale the interface betwenn these two boxes? Thanks for your help.

    • @liamchallis
      @liamchallis  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I got my adapter plate and shaft from synchro gearboxes but there are now several suppliers offering adapters, I think wiseman engineering also make a kit.

      I found an ECU pinout online and made my own wiring loom. Alternatively you can buy a standalone loom kit but they're not cheap.

    I love the performance. Which did you maintain the original R380 gearbox? Did you use an adaptor Kit or how did you go about merging the gearbox to the M57 engine?

    • @liamchallis
      @liamchallis  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, we used the BMW GS6-53DZ 6 speed manual box with an adaptor to the LT230 transfer box. Have a look at my build thread here: forums.lr4x4.com/topic/106180-engine-conversion-bmw-m57-into-a-90/#comments

    nice, do you have air conditioning on your defender ? i also want to do this swap....

    • @liamchallis
      @liamchallis  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No I don't have air conditioning, I actually removed the air con pump from the M57 because it would have been extremely close to the steering box.

    Just wondering the gear changes were that smooth I couldn't tell if it was automatic or manual ?
