    Really appreciated the closing remark about how roads will be built if every one uses the loopholes. I don't want to pay less taxes as much as I want the rich to pay more taxes.

    • @eragon78
      @eragon78 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +34

      Thats the trick, most of the loopholes only work if you already have a ton of money. The other big loophole is investments. If you invest money, that gets taxed by the capital gains tax rate, which is significantly lower than the NORMAL income rate. Thats where most of the wealthy make their money, and not through an income by actually working.
      You literally get taxed less for sitting around and letting your money earn money, than you do if you work for a living. its a completely backwards system.
      So poor people cant really dodge taxes like rich people. Thats the entire point of most of these loopholes.

      "Deferment" is having 10's of millions of dollars and then taking loans against it, then when you die, the loans go away in part but your descendents keep the assets, so just be born rich and no problem!

    You can't even write off the interest on your house unless it's super high because you have a super expensive home (like a million dollar one, I think) ... I was so excited about finally being able to write off interest on my taxes when I bought my home in 2017 ... And that loop hole was closed to middle class homeowners in 2018 : ( ... And for those of us with side hustles: You now have to include any money earned over like $500 ... where it used to be like $5,000 or something like that ... I remember seeing this man's standups and loving them (esp. the KKK BBQ bit)
    Often times, standup comics are great at standup but not so great outside of that world
    That's definitely not the case for Josh Johnson.
    Super glad to see him thriving at The Daily Show

      🌸Ⓐ🥀Child marriage in the US needs to be banned nationwide. It is still legal in most states because of loopholes because of Republicans. This must change now. Raise the minimum AoM to 18. Restore Roe vs Wade. Survivors also need more rights.

    Really solid. What was missing is an explanation of the peter thiel 401k loophole. Great scheme if you are mega wealthy. Setup a roth 401k, and invest that 401k in companies and then buy onto their board of directors and temporarily increase value for massive gains. Rinse and repeat until your roth 401k is multi billion dollars and totally tax free

    What I have learned over my life time is the more I have the more I got to keep. As a working stiff every thing I earned was taxed, as a business owner every thing I bought was a tax deduction. I was used to buying used cars to try and save money but as a business owner it turned out it cost the same to buy a new car thanks to all the tax deductions.

      It’s not everything, though. My understanding is it has to be solely used for business. You use that car as your personal vehicle, too? Only partially deductible.

      @@kconway2263 You are correct, except...
      Where a vehicle is used for work and is a utility vehicle (Ute) with only two seats it is not necessary to declare personal driving to the tax office.

    Okay, I don't know why I haven't been getting notifications for The daily show on TH-cam for a while but then I was like, "I haven't seen this in a while."
    So I look it up, and I'm so stoked to see Josh Johnson on here! The first time I saw Josh johnson, I didn't even know he was at all affiliated with Trevor noah, but I really felt like he should be the new host of The daily show.
    Just my two cents ✌️
