I thought it was tied into there being a slaughter house yrs ago that was right down the beach? I want to say NatGeo did a doc on it several yrs ago. Supposedly it was in operation for yrs and they slaughtered many many cows and other animals there. They sprayed off most of the blood either into a river into the ocean itself. Probably more then blood was washed into the ocean itself and it started attracting sharks. It’s been closed for yrs but the oil left from yrs of so much blood continues to flow out in the ocean every time it rains. I’m pretty sure I saw this one time.
National Geographic when you write a question as your TH-cam video title please make sure you have an answer to that question, that's the reason why people clicked on the video. Don't wait until 5:40 to be like "I dOnT KnOw "
Not every video will have an answer to the question. It's the same thing as if you were looking to find a cure to cancer, there is none (yet). They're giving you background knowledge so that you can know what might be the different causes of it.
Having lived in the area, I can assure you it’s bull sharks that are the main culprits. Why? There’s lots of river outflows along the Pernambuco coast. River outflows means nutrients, nutrients means lots of prey. Not to mention the fact that bull sharks tolerate low salinity. In addition lots of larger prey species stage here in their migration, such as tarpon, which the sharks are more than willing to go after if the opportunity arises. The murky shallow waters where the surf and where salt and fresh water from the muddy rivers flow out into the Atlantic is perfect for bull sharks.
That was sort of a dumb video. I mean sure, they explored possibilities I guess. But they didn’t make any progress whatsoever toward answering the question they set out with.
In this month of March 2023, yesterday and today, there were two more shark attacks on the beaches of the city of Recife, that's already three attacks in just two weeks this month.
This is a pretty dissapointing video, the actual cause of the shark attacks is, well, people. More specifically, the construction of the SUAPE port near Recife disrupted the sharks natural habitat, so they came looking for food where they could find it.
I watched another documentary on the increasing shark attacks in certain areas and the most prominent thing is cage diving. In many places where cage diving is a tourist attraction they lure the sharks towards the humans in the cage with food, that makes them more aggressive and hostile towards humans and once a human isnt in a cage anymore, well done deal
im in recife at the moment and I surf every day, its not as bad as the show makes it out to be. But yes there is a risk but still WAY slimmer then getting into a fatal car accident and we dont seem to be stopped by that statistic...
No no no you have it all wrong. It’s Bruce and his pals, they use these shipwrecked boats for their ‘little get together’. Dory is a fully pledged member now by the way. Fish are friend now food.
This whole video just felt like scare mongering. No actual information given, this did not feel like an informative National Geographic video. Thumbs down 👎
I'm Brazilian and a basic tip for your life: Don't swin on water with sharks, that's stupid. Plus, Brazil has a lot of beaches without sharks. They don't have fault, we're the ones invading their habitat, and humans kill approximately 100 millions sharks every year, we are the real monsters.
Well, isnt this already studied and found related to a slaughterhouse letting blood in the water from the river? It attract shark and incrises the encounters!
I was waiting for what they surmised and no answers came. They could build a natural rock wall to make a swimming lagoon that only the waves could crash over, they have that in Hawaii on Oahu in Waikiki beach, it's a safe place to swim anytime. Idk but I can't see any other way to have it safe for swimmers and sea creatures alike.
solution: 1. strong electromagnetic field 2. "smell of death" in a concentrated dose that is pumped every 20-30 minutes along the shore where the swimmers are. You're welcome. ;)
Greetings you fabulous Earthlings and Happy Sunday!!! 👋👽I bring Keto friendly cookies to all you friendly Earthlings 🍪Don't mind me, just cruising by:::::::::::::::::🛸
The reason for shark attacks in Recife could possibly be found on the ocean floor. What are your thoughts on the attacks in this coastline?
I think the got used to humans and are not scared of us anymore.

Why does Natgeo overdramatize everything?
Nothing on floor, Carbon and food chain broken, THEIR ALL STARVING.
Testosterone levels too high in the sharks?

agreed, they seem to be doing that often...
Exactly! I literally just yelled to myself about being click baited by this video

Food chain is broken . Shark attacks are elevated all over . Their starving like all the other species of the oceans.
The building of Suape Port upcoast is one of the main causes

More informative and helpful than the video, thanks! I was a bit disappointed in National Geographic for making this more of a drama than an answer.
It feels like the tone of this show is geared towards manufacturing fear towards sharks. Is that really what National Geographic should be going for?
Word! I was so disappointed in the high drama low info in this video. I expected way more from Nat Geo.
Well they did make shark week into a huge thing across most of the globe so …
Many citizens of Recife say that the industry destroyed the natural habitat where the sharks used to reproduce and eat to build a ship port.
I live in Recife! I can´t believe that this issue actualy caught the attention of NatGeo
That was sort of a dumb video. I mean sure, they explored possibilities I guess. But they didn’t make any progress whatsoever toward answering the question they set out with.
Its a clip from a longer TV show I think
In this month of March 2023, yesterday and today, there were two more shark attacks on the beaches of the city of Recife, that's already three attacks in just two weeks this month.
Hello everyone, I'm from Indonesia, greet you
I like't Primitive. You crazyy and fun😂😂😂
Hahaha so hard lol😂😂😂
Hello Indonesia hows the fishing over their?
Sharks attack because of the throbbing techno music! 3:32
60 attacks since records began........3,000 murders a year in Recife....a real problem
The only solution for this is....stay out of the sharks natural habitant period.
This is a pretty dissapointing video, the actual cause of the shark attacks is, well, people. More specifically, the construction of the SUAPE port near Recife disrupted the sharks natural habitat, so they came looking for food where they could find it.

Make part 2 it’s soooo interesting 😂😂😂😂
NatGeo: Here's a video with a question in the title and it ends with no answers.
Me: Am I joke to you?
You’re more likely to get shot by a robber or hit by a car in Recife than bitten by a shark on its beaches
"Finally a short video with an answer to a question I've always wondered"! ....
same
im in recife at the moment and I surf every day, its not as bad as the show makes it out to be. But yes there is a risk but still WAY slimmer then getting into a fatal car accident and we dont seem to be stopped by that statistic...
I personally find the over dramatic music a little annoying
Very interesting and frightening. 😬
Deadliest coastline? I can't swim anyway, but have good reasons to visit Recife Brazil. The beach strip really looks cool on google maps.
Cadê os Recifenses? Só não entendi nada do quê ele falou no vídeo!
No no no you have it all wrong. It’s Bruce and his pals, they use these shipwrecked boats for their ‘little get together’. Dory is a fully pledged member now by the way. Fish are friend now food.
I'm from Recife, I love Boa Viagem beach, bur unfortunally there's the shark problem.
Vai Brasil
because now its personal.
AND WHY STILL SWIM THERE?!? DIP IN AND OUT AND BE LIKE "IM UP IN THAT WATER"
Purple Gang Youngin sharks are not that dangerous
40 años atrás no existía ese problema.
Nurse sharks with serrated teeth and being responsible for multiple attacks? 🤔
One possibility is that they attack because they are hungry.
i think so 😂😂
For some reason, you never ever ever hear of a shark attack in the Caribbean..... How's that for "good fortune"?
Sharks must be tired of fish by now....
Interesting, thank for posting 👍😊
We're glad you enjoyed watching!

svent t. røine this isn’t true
@@Lalaquepaz well, there has been a documentary on tv a couple of years ago. How els should I, a norwegian, know of the problem?
Well now that you’ve read my comment, you know now.
Neida.
Well looks like other has seen the same documentary on nat geo as I have. I find it believable and logical.
Attacks are the shark version of memes?

Yeah I live here lmao
zappa frank sunset beach op
It's wild how likely it is actually
While there, I won't step into the water, fr
Exactly, why
Just dont go into the water there. Problem solved
the answer for this is SUAPE.
Wow 🐬🐬🐬
That's not Fabio
dose sinking too many ships cause global sea levels rise?
Sharks don't kill as many as other things do.

Everyone knows Brazilians are delicious
Ahaha true!
Thank you
Bruh.... im finna flag this video lol how u gone title the video a question u ain't even answer?? Tf

I believe that!
Plackton sardines disappearing . Food Carbon chain broken, big fish eat little fish. STARVATION
Why ? Because they’re predators

Chinese found solution for sharks , they just hunt eat ❤😂
O Palmeiras não tem mundial
You waisted my time, Yall just want views.
To know background knowledge of what might be causing it. Whenever there's a question on a video, there will not always be a answer.
:O
This trash video made me lose respect for Natgeo
