We’re switching from TGATB to CLE for math this year and I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to make this video. My boys are still in the early years, so I feel comfortable making the switch. You answered so many of my questions!
I love CLE! This will be the 8th year of my son using CLE Math and Lang. Arts. I know you have stated in other videos the feelings of needing to switch to the "it" curriculum, but in my opinion, you really can't go wrong with CLE. It may never be the flashy "it" curriculum, but man is it a solid one! A funny story- when my son was younger we created a little jingle that we would sing together when he got to the "We Remember" section and then he would always give me a kiss on the cheek at the end. He is in 7th grade now and every once in awhile, I hear him singing our little jingle under his breath when he begins the We Remember section...makes my mama heart happy :)
I totally agree! I’m so happy to be back with CLE! It is such a solid curriculum. I LOVE the story about the We Remember song! ❤️ those are the memories you will cherish!!! ❤️ thanks for sharing!
I've done CLE math with my kids for two years now and cant recommend it enough! We started with Horizons math then Math Mammoth and dabbled in LifePac but i absolutely love the pace and spiral structure of CLE math. Not too fond of the LA though, but going to stick with it for now.
FANTASTIC flip through! So helpful. I'm very torn between Singapore Math 1 and CLE Math 1. I already own the Singapore Math, but am very very tempted by CLE. It just looks so easy to use.
I did use Singapore for a couple years in the beginning. It’s really good. But it got to a point where it was so much mental math and just a different kind of learning that it didn’t work for my daughter anymore. Then we found CLE and love it. I’m so glad this flip thru helped 😁
Great video! We started with BJU..loved it then it just wasn't working. We switched to Saxon math...nope. Now we are back to BJU and just not as happy as we were with it during the elementary years. I already ordered the CLE Language Arts and I think we may try CLE for math also.
We decided to alternate a week of tgtb and a week of cle math to see what we like most. This is our first week of cle math3 and it has been ALL pretests! I was feeling like she was so unprepared and ready to throw in the towel. I'm so glad I watched your video to discover it's only the 1st book. What a relief! I didn't understand where the lessons and instruction really came in. Thanks for the video!😊
Super helpful video! Since this isn’t one of the “trending” curriculums it’s hard to find detailed info on it. We decided to go with a new math program this year because my old standby, Math U See, doesn’t work for my youngest child. The jury is still out on whether this new program will work for both of us, but it’s nice to know that CLE is a solid option if I need something else! Thank you!
Thank you! I’m so glad it was helpful! I agree….that this curriculum isn’t talked about enough! It’s so solid and academically sound. I want more people to hear about it! I hope what you’re using this year works for you, but if it doesn’t, definitely look into CLE!
They are very similar from everything I’ve heard. I could be wrong, bc I haven’t used ACE, but I believe CLE is more challenging academically. It’s also a strong Christian foundation…I don’t know enough to say if ACE is Christian. But I think they’re definitely comparable.
@@ourthriftyhomeschool ACE is very Christian and conservative based, but the biggest complaint with it is that it isn't as challenging as a lot of the popular non-independent curriculums. Also, thank you for making this video and bringing it to our attention! I have since checked it out and will most likely be using CLE for my 6th grader's math. :)
We only used TT for the free trial…just enough to get a taste for it. I was concerned it wasn’t enough and that it was too easy to guess the right answer and not really understand how you got it.
We are switching to CLE from Masterbooks and I looked through the 2nd grade Light Unit and then I compared it to the Masterbooks 4th grade curriculum and it was very similar!! My daughter has done 2nd and 3rd grade in Master books but when she took the placement test she only scored in 2nd grade!!😲 I was blown away bc I thought Masterbooks was a good curriculum but I had a sneaky suspicion that it wasn't enough and now I know for sure it wasn't enough!! I feel bad my daughter who is in 4th grade for everything else will be doing second grade math but I really want her to have a solid foundation in Math!! Did you have to put your kids in a lower math level when you switched?
I have one daughter who is a level below her grade, but I’ve reassured her that it really doesn’t matter as long as she is understanding and learning! And it really is advanced (like you said) so just look at those as levels and not grades! It’s such a good curriculum ❤️ I hope it’s a great year for you!
What seems to be good about this curriculum is that you can only purchase the books you need to (if there's only certain things they need to work on you can just get those books from the prior level) and continue on with her current grade level if needed
When I read this post I thought this literally is my exact situation right now. We did masterbooks k-3. Now my 4th grader is testing at a 2nd grade level for math in all the curriculum im testing her for. Did you end up using CLE? Was it an ok switch from masterbooks style? I am going to put her in level 2 in CLE.
I LOVED Christian Light for math but my kids HATE it. So we had to switch! This was a great video for those looking into CLE math! It is such a thorough math program and takes the heat off of Mom to teach! I LOVE how it is so incremental when it teaches concepts and skills. They learn step by step and suddenly they are doing hard math! I hate math too as a homeschool mom. :)
I’m glad I’m not the only math teacher that hates math! Lol 😂 I get that! There are times when my kids would rather do something easier or “more fun”, but this is so solid and straightforward…..I’m so glad we’re using it again!
I have all my kiddos using BJU press and it’s going well, I just discovered this curriculum…I’m wondering if I should make the switch? Such a hard decision!
I have never used BJU. But I’ve heard it is really good. I can’t compare the two for you, but I really do love the simplicity, quality, and price of CLE! 😁
I'm really considering switching our curriculum to this. To be honest I've debated this for the past three years on making the switch. I have three boys and one on the way. I need something open and go that meets everyone's needs. We have used: A.C.E, BJU, Ignitia and rod and staff. I feel my oldest is struggling with the Ignitia program because it's online. So going back to a paper format will help. How is the reading or English program? Any suggestions for a child struggling with reading and comprehension? Thank you for your videos, sorry for super long post lol. 🤣
This could be a good fit. It’s very rigorous so definitely take the placement test to make sure he’s placed correctly. As for reading comprehension, it’s something they do every single day in CLE reading. We’ve had times where I’ve had a kid struggle with reading comprehension and it’s just a daily task that they need a little extra help with….but I think it’s so good to have the consistent practice. I loved CLE language when we used it! It’s very thorough and comprehensive. My kids learned so much.
Thanks for sharing! We've been trying Singapore and not loving it with my 2nd grader so I've been looking to switch to CLE and I love this thorough review. Did you find the switch smooth going from Singapore to CLE?
Well…..lol 🤣 I struggle with that. I usually make them do it all….bc that’s the way I am. But when they really are understanding it all, sometimes I’ll mark off a couple problems in each section if they ask me to 😬 I want to be willing to do this more, bc so many people do every other problem….It’s just a bit of a struggle for me 😁
@@ourthriftyhomeschool thank you ordered level 3 for my struggling learner this morning. We have been doing TT last two years but, all of sudden division is introduced and then remainders are included. He is struggling and can’t explain it to him. Hoping this will help.
Thank you so much for this! I love it! I was looking at Christian light because of some of your other videos, but I still wasn't sure! But I think it's great! Thanks again! 🥰🤍
It depends on how big you write….my oldest has no problem writing her answers and doing her work, but my middle daughter writes much bigger. I always encourage her to use graphs paper to do her work if she can’t fit it! You might want to try that. 😁

Yes! CLE math is so strong! We love it. I do love their Language too…but it can be a lot doing multiple CLE subjects at the same time, but worth it!

May be switching over from Abeka, is the teachers guide needed or is the answer keys good enough ?

We use their math and their reading. What science and history do you use? Have you used cle for those?
I haven’t used CLE for science or history. This year we are using Biblioplan for History and Apologia for science and loving them both!
Math is my favorite
