    I’m Matt, Matt Byrne-Fraser, Managing Consultant here at Spencer Clarke Group, I’ve been with the business for over 4 years now.
    Now when I’m not busy recruiting I have a busy family life. I've got a wife, little boy and two little doggies that keep me busy.

    I’ve been in recruitment for I think about 11 or 12 years now.
    So my recruitment career started when basically I wanted to be a Teacher and an agency had a job advertised for a Cover Supervisor. I went to go and do that and then this firm has a recruitment consultant job. Me being me I rang them up and said I want that job and they said do you know what it is, I said I have no idea, so I did some research, looked at it, interviewed and here I am today.
    I’ve worked with four other companies I think and sort of the last 5 or 6 years, I’ve focussed on Accountancy and Finance recruitment which I thoroughly love.
    01:08 What Does Your Day To Day Involve?
    Day to day for me, no two days are the same, so typically what my day involves is reaching out to candidates, reaching out to clients.
    Now, when I’m reaching out to candidates, I’m typically working towards job mandates, I’m trying to find people suitable for my client base. I recruit a really really diverse amount of clients that I work with, some large firms, some small firms and ultimately I’m just busy all day, there’s not enough hours in the day unfortunately.
    I try and do fit in a bit of gym work, which I’ve started recently as well, so we’ll see how that goes, but ultimately, my days are very, very busy, on the phone a lot, sending a lot of emails and speaking to you lovely, lovely people.

    Being in the Accountancy and Finance sector, 6 years or so now, I understand what our clients' needs are. I understand as well there’s no shoe that fits all, so basically what I like to do is listen to our clients needs, speak to you, get to know you on a personal basis as well and find out what people are going to be right for your firm.
    I’m just not a consultant that’s going to send you 100 CVs and hope for the best. I really want to know what is right for you, your firm and your open position and make sure I’m putting the right person in that position for you.
    02:24 How Can You Help Candidates?
    If you’re a candidate and you’re wanting to speak to me, what am I going to do for you?
    The first thing I’m going to do is listen. I’m not going to force you into any opportunities, it’s not in my interest to do that. I want to make sure that the opportunities I’m approaching you about are right for you.
    If they’re not right for you, we’ll re-tailor our search and see what we can find that is going to be right for you. I want to make sure that you’re happy in your job, so for me, if I don’t listen to you, then I’m not going to be able to help you effectively.
