Airplane passengers prepare for a crash landing in the ocean.
Great movie, so glad he went back for the dog, kind of knew he would. Gary Merrill a legend. Many thanks.
@@susanfriend-k5m the. Lovely. Doggy. 🐕🐶🐕🐶 💚😃👌💚
But what about the budgies. they stood no chance.
Try to toss those birds today
Another movie with the great Sheridan Comerate. I certainly enjoyed the toy airplane in front of the background projection.
This is great. A genuine classic.thanks for posting it. These old airplane disaster movies are cinema gold.
Glad you liked it!
A great film ! Thanks for uploading!! 👍🏻
Thank you too!
Thanks.
Rob! Really good classic Flick! Whether it be the ocean Or the Hudson river
, nice landing! Even the dog got to have some bacon-and-eggs.
I teared up at the end! Well done film holds your attention. Good cast. Reminds me of the kind of ilm that used to play on "The Late Show" back in the day.
The only one I was thinking to was Wilbur !
Thanks for sharing this movie I didn't know, and in such a good copy.
Glad you liked it!
Hi buddy, classic movie thanks for sharing. cheers Gary 🇬🇧
You're welcome )
@@craig4867 FYI I do not make one penny on these videos or any ads that TH-cam may place on my channel! Are you HAPPY now???
@@robtw88 Yes, thanks for posting this rare film! Love it!
@@craig4867 Yes, how dare anyone make any money!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Wow, such a nice one. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it
''We're going to crash land in the ocean''! ''There is nothing to worry about''.
😆😂
Don’t worry, we can make it on three engines 😅
Bogart n Chuck Heston all in one Captain! What a ride 😅
One of the best air disaster movies made.😀
My husband and I adopted a baby from Peru. We both went and my husband left and went back to work and I stayed for 3 mos. I had to leave the baby w/our lawyer as my ticket expired and I had to go home. Then a new Peru judge was put on our case and insisted my husband go back to Peru and sign papers again. So he went alone to Peru and finished the adoption process and stayed another 3 wks. So he brought the baby home. He said all the woman passengers and flight attendants were practically all lined up tp help him w/the baby So this baby part reminded me of that. A man w/a baby on a 8 hr. flight is unusual, I guess.
???
Great movie, so realistic, and no fake props ,thanks for posting 😊😊😊❤❤❤
You're welcome!
Plenty of material here for a sequel to "Airplane". What a shocker!
Great movie, so glad he went back for the dog,
That a very movie and a family film. Thank you!
I keep thinking of Airplane! from 1980...
"You'd better tell the Captain we've got to land as soon as we can. This woman has to be gotten to a hospital."
"A hospital? What is it?"
"It's a big building with patients, but that's not important right now."
The creators of "Airplane!" actually purchased the rights to the 1957 air disaster film entitled "Zero Hour!" and there are several scenes and even dialog from the film that ended up being spoofed in "Airplane!". It's also interesting to note that the "exclamation mark" in the title "Zero Hour!" was also adopted for the "Airplane!" title!
she'll take it black.....like her men
Me too! Like when she said she likes her coffee black...
Enjoyable film.
A. Very. Good. Classic. Desaster. Movie. 🎬 for. A. B. Class. Picture. 🎥 very. Well. Don. Rob. 🎞 thanks. 👌 👌 😃 🎉🎉🎉
Whit pleasure. 👌😃
Pretty cool that the destroyer was able to keep up with the plane.
The aircraft did circle back to where the destroyer was located.
Very enjoyable.
Glad you think so!
"Don't call me Shirley""
Good Movie, I saw it before years ago but seeing it again now!
Thank you for another great movie ❤
Fantastic. Not seen this before. Cheers!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Celia Lovsky- the former Mrs. Peter Lorre, is a favorite icon of "Trekkies", playing the original T'Pau.
Always love your bits of movie/TV trivia!
Fred Frieberger also was behind many Star Trek episodes too.
And the screenwriter of this movie also was the producer of season 3 of the original "Star Trek" series.
Yay! He went back for the pupper! 🤗
Class act ❤❤❤❤
"First" class act!
Them's the days- smokin' in da cockpit😅
Not too bad. Enjoyable. Thanks for posting.
Glad you enjoyed it
Very good enjoyed every minute, they don't make them like that anymore. Thank you
Glad you liked it!
The ditching scene and aftermath are very well done
Looks like they used footage of a scale model of a Lockheed R6V "Constitution" U.S. Navy transport being tested for ditching abilities.
Enjoyable film
Thanks RW.
For the trailer and another good B-Classe. I enjoyed. 😊
Saved the pup!!!
😀
Well, thank goodness the Navy was there to help!! GO NAVY💋
This was a good “B” movie. TFS.
Hy Rob. I was a great Roger Smith Fan since my childhood regarding "77 Sunset Strip". It was
my favourite TV-Show. I'm looking so long for the movies of Roger he did before "77".
You are the first who load them up. Thanks a lot for that and if you have more please go one :-))
Glad you enjoyed it! Here is the link to another Roger Smith movie on my channel...it's a good one too!

Yes, and when Roger talked about "Ann" I thought of his future wife Ann-Margret!
@@robtw88 Thanks for your replay Rob. Yes I saw it already on Saturday, great movie !
Your channel is soooo great. I like these movies and TV-shows from the fifties and
sixties. They had good storys and I think the actors of that time were much better
than today. Maybe they had a better education at that time ?
@@eeddieedwards3890 Yes your are right ! Oh boy Roger had the "jackpot" ! But it is
very seldom that a hollywood-couple reach the golden wedding. Sadly Roger died
1 month after this. But it would have been more sadly he died 1 month before..... !
Awesome movie! Thank you....
Glad you enjoyed it
Not sure how the "B" movie designation is chosen. But whoever decides was way off target. The movie has everythin. Great story, drama, pathos, comedy and beutifully filmed. Topntop it all: brilliantly acted.
This was a pretty neat one as it was based on a real incident. Nancy Reagan was an unexpected surprise as well.
Anything with Gary Merrill and Nancy Reagan is bound to be good!!
Just a B movie, that’s all
She was always just a B actress
@caroleminke6116 but very sophisticated and attractive!!
Many thanks Rob!A b-movie gem😃😄😍😀
Great movie. I wonder if Barry got to have some champagne as well, a lit bit to try at least.
He snuck a whole jug into his room while mom and the Warden took the other into their room. He listened to his new Christian music records while he read the Sears catalog.
"Joey. You ever been in a cockpit? You like movies about gladiators? Ever been in a men's locker room?
Ever been to a Turkish prison?"
That movie crossed my mind too. Quit calling me Shirley
😁
Terrific movie
Glad you liked it!
Very entertaining and gripping movie from the glorious 1950s. A lot better than most of the crap made by present day Hollywood.
So true!
Exactly right.
B version of the “High and the Mighty”….but still fun if you like aviation/disaster/crisis movies…..
Incidentally, back in 1958 when this was made, airline travel was still very exclusive, so movies about airline travel were fascinating to the mostly “grounded” public.
This movie is roughly based on the true story of a Boeing Stratocruiser that had an engine out from Hawaii to the mainland, and the drag from the engine outage reduced their range, and forced them to eventually have to ditch….but waited until daylight to do it.
30:11 fans of the 1980 comedy “Airplane” Will recognize this coffee scene that they spoofed with two children instead of theses adults. The other airplane disaster movie they took content from was “Zero Hour”.
Estupenda película, buen director y guión, excelentes actores y actrices. Producto final: película muy recomendable.
I was going to be mad if they hadn't saved the dog!
That cockpit is bigger than my lounge.
Back when airlines treated passengers like royalty. Now they are not airlines they are air busses. They treat you like you are riding a greyhound bus.
Yes, and airline "hostesses" as they were called were busy the entire flight serving passengers. Not like today where they serve one round of drinks and then disappear to the back of the plane surfing their smartphone.
Buisness class is expensive but worth it !!
It’s not the airlines it’s the passengers they act like animals
You do know that airline tickets were exorbitantly expensive then too, right? Let’s strive for a complete assessment. Oh. And you can still get that special treatment. Just pay for 1st class
I like the Captain’s cap lol
Looks like Gary Merrell survived 1949's "Twelve 'O'clock High"
Good thing Merrell survived that movie and this one so he could go on to be in his best movie ever which was 1961 "mysterious Island"!!
"Extremely serious. It starts with a slight fever and dryness of the throat. When the virus penetrates the red blood cells, the victim becomes dizzy, begins to experience an itchy rash, then the poison goes to work on the central nervous system, severe muscle spasms followed by the inevitable drooling.
At this point, the entire digestive system collapses accompanied by uncontrollable flatulence until finally, the poor bastard is reduced to a quivering wasted piece of jelly."
I loke how when engine no. 4 starts to fail, the whole crew just sits there looking out the window for about a monute. Lol
Aside from the references to Airplane people have made, this is a very nice film.
As a society, world wide, we've lost something. Everyone here is dressed and well appointed. Men in suits, as a matter of daily routine. Theres something about it. Ibwish we could return to some version of this.
Yes, I miss when women wore gloves Jackie Kennedy or Marilyn Monroe style. The gloves seem to have been replaced by tattoos.
We use to have class, then the 60s happened. 😢
What I liked was that the dad was the undisputed head of the household, and even though he was out of the country, his word still stood about his son not attending the party.
You probably won't believe this, but the downward spiral is absolutely well planned/deliberate and extremely longstanding. There is a ruling clan executing it, they refer to it as Tikkun Olam, NWO, 1 World Rule, or Brave New World. The good news is, many non-clan people (goyim) are beginning to realize what is happening, who is doing it, and why. Other good news is much of the "chaos" is complete deception, pure fabrication, however much physical damage/destruction is obviously/painfully real, and completely planned/deliberate; Often as a result of weaponized weather. Other bad news is not enough of the slave caste has the ability to see/understand reality, and do not have the mental/emotional capacity and or fortitude to unite in resisting NWO; and the clan is so entrenched/unshakable in its complete control of money, governments, and media.
Haven't seen that since I was a Little Kid !!!!
Great old movie. Kinda reminds me of the PanAm stratocruiser that went down.
I TOLD YOU TO 'CHECK' THOSE ENGINES (all four?). This wouldn't have happened if they were checked! I'm loving this movie!!
My goodness that four engines sound good to me and I love airplane engines everybody’s in the script. It’s OK it’s just non fiction.
I wasn’t really keen on this type of movie, but once they saved the dog and the birds were free I kind of liked it.
The birds would not have survived unless they were perhaps seagulls. They were released at 20,000 feet, in the middle of the ocean!
This is my kind of movie! It gets going right away! Not that--45 minutes of complex and boring dialogue before anything happens--crap!
you are so right😂
That second line doesn’t make sense
Gary Merrill, formerly of Two Lights, Cape Elizabeth, Maine.
We dont need no stinkin tarmac!
The high an the mighty was great fick more action here a story told there!
There's more foot action in the cockpit than Grand Central Station! 😂
And towards the end, there was some "foot traffic" in the rear cargo hold, too!
Based on Pan Am Flight 6 that ditched near Hawaii.
No lies!! ......
Any one else saying get the dog get the dog!!!😄😄
YEEEEEEESSSSSS!!!! 😅😅
@@lizettewanzer8650 😁😁
When movies were movies
The girl who, when asked by the stewardess if she wanted a magazine to read, asked if there were comic books available instead, is definitely the best one to choose when double dating.
Good old days of a full flight crew.
"A one inch envelope of metal"!? It wouldn't stay in the air.
YUP! Genuine 100% B grade movie AND WOW! Almost got a C for the set!
NB all seem to be difficult to pick "high roller" characters... of types. .. e.g. the most subtle high roller that is obvious (difficult unless you know them) is the priest! (Immensely more subtle than blazing saddles).
Saddly, I could elaborate much more but they would be a professional forensic level beyond.
Every last one is a high roller scheme (it does include the captain - take a look at the bloke that screams "Santa Maria it' Mongo" in blazing saddles, that's what the Captain would be if someone outsized him in the movie!).
And I may as say it! The little boy (remember I said "everyone") is named in slang sometimes as "little doggy" (sometimes "dear little doggy" or just "dear" for short / abbreviation of these) because he is too small to bite anyone leaving any consequence (trouble is, it has plenty of far bigger dogs around that will immediately hear and frenzy with him and tear the legs and arms off is the actual technique).
Loved Reagan. I loved the movie, it was fun.
reminds me of the Odessy of flight 33 from the Twilight Zone… 1960 ?
I remember this I was most worried would the birds know where to fly?
Not to mention hitting the airstream at 150 knots.
Perfect movie b4 flight😅
1:11:22: Wow that plane got so scared before touching water it actually changed its shape....
Also search "Ocean Station November - Pan Am Flight 6 Documentary" which explains why the Coast Guard was on "Ocean Station November." One of the reasons: to be out at the point of no return so the ship could be there to assist planes that may have had to ditch!
flight enginener just looking out the window and both pilots with hands on controls,
Wow that’s what I watched growing up…. I’m 67 years old. Very scary at the time lol.,.,.
Nowadays you would see shark attack and more gore and blood 🩸
wow, Nancy Reagan!!!
They must have gotten her on the cheap to play this part.
Thirty degrees flaps on three engines, we're all gonna die!
Flaps at cruise? We're all gonna die!
Gary Merrill saved Wilbur💋
Glad Wilbur made it, but the parakeets never had a chance. The middle of the Atlantic and they're hardly migratory birds. Anyway, thanks for a great movie.
I thought about that also. They no doubt went to the destroyer. Plenty of masts and antennas to land on.
@thejerseyj5479 Thanks. I hadn't thought of that.
How would they get today's 300 pounders out of a window?
Is the plane in the opening credits a model Douglas DC 9? Oh I love monochrome movies! The legendary Fred Freiberger here...
Co pilot smoking...passengers turn on inside lights to check out noise outside..
Classic.
Gary Merrill played a convincing Colonel in the German movie "Entschieden Bevor Morgengrau".
Wrong mix in those 2 stroke motors...😮
Ron Reagan's wife Nancy is in here
This was the last film in which Nancy Reagan (billed as Nancy Davis) appeared in.
Mercedes sports car at 19:00. Drool!
You dont feather an engine while it is running
THE CROWDED SKY next, silvuplee ....
How many thought they saw the plane hit the water?
A single engine fails, and the solution is somehow "30 degrees flaps"? How the hell does that make any sense at all?
and that ridiculous baseball cap. It's not even on straight on his head!
Its actually the worse thing to do
@@y00t00b3r Yes, it does not look professional.
I would have liked to see the reunion between the boy and his beloved pup. Also wonder how the press coverage of their experience would have compared to the real-life situation when 'Sully' saved his passengers in the Hudson River.
This was the last film in which Nancy Reagan (billed as Nancy Davis) appeared in.
NANCY DAVIS IS THE 1ST LADY NANCY REAGAN, GARY MERRILLS WIFE.
Yeah. Somebody already mentioned that.
Gary Merrill’s wife was Bette Davis not Nancy Davis
@@francesfarmer736 I MEAN HIS CHARACTER WIFE.
