I actually saw this when I was a lil kid and did find it boring. I agree it's an interesting film. However it was promoted to be about UFO's. It really wasn't about UFO's at all. Yes a UFO was reported and the 2 Fighter Jets crashed but it never explicitly states it was because of a UFO. As other's have stated it's more about the Government trying to suppress evidence a UFO might have caused the crashes.

The writers of this movie George Simpson and Neal R Burger wrote a book right around the same time as this movie was released. It covers many aspects of sci fi relevant at that time. Time travel personality transferrance.....the Bermuda triangle with a lot of pertinant information I didnt know existed at the time. Life after death all with a lot of technical info and both a WWII and 70s story line. Its called " Ghost Boat " and its a great read. Ive read it several times over ( read my original copy until it literally fell apart ) and I enjoy it every time.

Ambiguous interesting choice of word … they’re a daily occurrence in parts of the world. The only one’s making it ambiguous is the DoD … never mind the thousands upon thousands of first eye witness accounts from all walks of life, over so many decades worldwide including military to senior levels with strong credentials… supported by photographic evidence, radar and other sensor evidence, anecdotal eye witness accounts is still preliminary data … at some point a decision is going to need to be made as indigestible as it maybe for people who’d rather their presence didn’t exist for whatever ontological reasons, acknowledge their presence

One night as I looked out over Lake Ontario I saw that others were looking at the same thing as me. Seemed like a very bright light over the water that did not move or make sound. Found out the next day it was flares fired from a coast guard ship the flares had parachutes on them and the heat from the flare helped keep them up longer. Anyway it was a crashed yacht and a man died in the crash . Still from I think about five miles as the crow flies it all looked like some odd thing not of this world

Poor Glenn Ford, you would’ve thought a UFO stole off with his career after appearing in this movie. But he could have been under contract with the studio to appear in x-amount of movies. 🤷🏼‍♀️ It was written more like a fleeting thought rather than a story with a beginning and an end.
But since it was Glenn Ford he’s allowed a pass on this flop…

I have noticed a trend in comments n these older (1970s and back) films. almost all of them I noticed fall on the same tempo :
"great film, better than effects wriiden (insert here) Solid wirtig, and Lead was the awesome-ist"
"now there's a solid film. No fancy CGI, no fancy flying pigs either- but a thought provoking solid script. And Glen Ford! Man demands respect when on screen!"
"- A good no-nonsense film in this ambiguous subject-genre. Acting by all was pretty good. "
Serioulsly look at the comments for older films and its like bots write them....

NASA, Congress, and especially the Pentagon, have finally admitted that something unknown and mysterious is flying in the skies...as have other governments around the world.
And videos of UFO Sightings abound on TH-cam.
So with all due respect...just because a person hasn't seen a UFO personally...
      doesn't mean they don't exist.

This film is a good representation of how the military compartmentalizes each section of it's own units and investigators as well. It also shows you how the "Men in Black" work hand in hand with the Shadowy invisible Military Industrial Complex DARPA people. It shows also how pilots were routinely interrogated harshly (Which has been alleged for decades!) and no one even high up in rank knows who the hell is calling the shots?!👽

I'd like to point out the Film at the beginning showing a REAL UFO. I don't have a link but a few years ago I saw a show about UFO's debunking this alleged UFO Film. The show using today's technology enhanced the film and the film is actually of a Silver colored Air Force jet. I forget the details had something about the reflection of the sun off the Jet. But it was pretty much agreed they had debunked the UFO Film.

I am sure this is close to what happens, debriefing and covering up similiar scenarioes, but it makes for a boring movie with such a good cast. I will bet later the writer wished he woul of made it alittle more exciting. And if I was David Soul and got the chance to play in a movie with Glen Ford and maybe the only time. I would of wished it was a good movie.😊
