Caroline Robinson Jones (February 15, 1942 - June 28, 2001) was among the first female African-American advertising figures.
Caroline Robinson Jones was born in Benton Harbor, Michigan on February 15, 1942. She went on to graduate from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Jones went on to work for advertising agencies such as J. Walter Thompson and BBDO. Jones later went on to found agencies that specialized in minority advertising, making her among the first to do so. She helped found Caroline Jones Advertising, Zebra Associates, and Mingo-Jones,[1] these were among the first agencies to be created by primarily African American executives and also among the first to focus on minority advertising. [2] Clients of Caroline Jones Advertising included American Express, the National Urban League,[1] and Miller High Life.[3] In 1979, her agency developed the slogan "We Do Chicken Right!" for Kentucky Fried Chicken (now KFC).[1] Caroline Robinson Jones died on June 28, 2001 from Cancer. - Wikipedia

Great and informative video (as always). I wanted to learn more about Mrs. Jones sad to read she died 7 years after this interview. I would loved to had picked her brain about social media and the racially bias practices we see on different platforms today. Thanks again.

I have been going through the content on this channel and I'm just lost and amazed. I'm lost in wondering how you've acquired SO much content about our history, people, our stories, our achievements, etc. I've watched content from Malcolm X to Nikki Giovanni that I've NEVER seen before or known had existed. I applaud you for being such a fine curator or culture via film and media. I am amazed at the visual quality and the substance of material you produce. I walk away feeling more whole as a woman and as a woman of the Afrikan diaspora. Thank-you! Please let me know how I can support you more?

Thanks for the love, Nic. Yes. Lots of powerful women are represented. Look for the Lena Horne stuff. Just tell others. If they can spend 1 hour less on Twitter and 1 hour more on Reelblack, in a year it adds up to 15 days less triggering, negativity and gossip.

What I'm hearing from her is that it's tougher than ever to do what she did, for anyone.

Yeah basically but at least she's being honest. And years later everything she said is probably still true. It's rare to have blacks in advertising.

Sadly, MANY are STILL CHASING a "MADISON AVENUE LIFESTYLE" and the MINDSET that comes from it.
