Wanna say just one thing - THANK YOU VERY MUCH BRO! I did it and this my first video i've created both in Cinema 4d and After Effects! My path starts with such a great beginning cos of u! Thank you again!
Hi Jamie! Thank you very much for your wonderful and detailed TH-cam C4D tutorials, your effort, your time, your love for 3D and animation. I can learn a lot from you and you make me a better motion designer ...
@ 24:26 I was thinking rendering a shadow pass of the scene which will later be multiplied on top of the mannequin.... would help reduce the shadow opacity, be positioned , be blurred and masked independently of the mannequin in after effects ? but ig adjusting it in c4d also works
For contact shadows you could turn on Ambient Occlusion in the render settings, unfotunately the shadow catcher can't see contact shadows so you would have to set this up without using shadow catcher
No worries. If you have Redshift you can get even better results, I have a tutorial that goes through how to set something similar to this up using Redshift + c4d: th-cam.com/video/cCEIZSShYRg/w-d-xo.html

Great Video. Thank you. I have a question, and maybe you said this or someone has already asked, but did you create the 3D character in C4d or was it premade?
Great video!!!, quick question: is there a reason the shadow catcher material doesn't show shadows from the sky object, only from the lights? What I mean is if I let the sky object alone and turn off any other light, the alpha channel created from the shadow catcher won't show the sky object's shadows...
Hi Braulio, I'm not sure why the shadow catcher doesn't catch shadows from the sky object. It's a bit annoying for sure! My advice would be to switch to Redshift which sorts this problem out completely
Great tutorial! I just started learning C4D and have a question. When I import the track data into C4D, everything is importing properly (3d camera tracker and nulls) but the scene won't play in C4D. I scrub through the scene and there is no movement. It was a sucessful track inside of After Effects too. Any idea what I need to do to get this to have playback inside C4D?

It's a good question but one I cannot answer as I have never used the tracker in C4D. However I have heard the tracker in Cinema has more options and ways to deal with troublesome track points. I must give it a go, I've never really had trouble with the AE tracker.

I don't have File or Format in the Save tab, so I can't even specify what kind of output render I want.
when i import my video into c4d from after effects exactly like you did. Camera tracked and all. The video doesnt play in c4d and it looks zoomed in. Any idea why? Thank you.
@@jbmocean399 hey man thank you for the reply. I love this tutorial and it exactly what I’ve been looking for. But my issue is that the imported background footage isn’t synced with the track, imported, solid video. The tracked AE video with the solid is not moving in sync with the background footage. I changed the frame rate just like you did but they don’t seam to be lifting up. Any info you can give me on why it’s doing this would be greatly appreciated.
@@jbmocean399 yeah man. I actually changed the frame rate 23.976 to 24 in after effects. Saved it as a C4D project. Uploaded it on to C4D. In after effects the tracked solid sticks perfectly on to the floor but in C4D it all over the place. I’ll keep trying to figure it out but it’s driving me crazy. Cause I’m following your tutorial but I’m not sure why it’s not working.
Check Frame Rates in AE & C4D. Did you interpret footage at the beginning? Also did you set frame rate in the Video Material in C4D? Hope that fixes your problem!
yeah, I got the same thing going on. Frame rates are all good, track is solid in AE (average error .76) but it's no good once in C4D. I've had this happen before, and I can't figure it out.
Are you cutting your video before tracking? If you are, try tracking without cutting. Or cut then export to create a new mp4, then bring in the newly created mp4 for tracking.
Very good tutorial. I am new to C4D and want to ask a quick question "how to create a 3D camera for C4D imported file in AE?".
