Great video, brother! Your explanation was concise and on point. It's such a relief to find a video that cuts out all the unnecessary extras and gets straight to the point. Thank you for not wasting my time. I'm a new subscriber to your channel, so I'm looking forward to seeing more of your videos.
Great video my friend I just needed to replace the replacement Bosch starter that lasted about 2 1/2 yrs. The solenoid fell off, and upon further inspection, noticed the little solenoid kickout fork was plastic. Not too impressed w the Bosch from Rock auto. So this time around, I'm going w a 6.4 starter from Carquest. Wish me luck!
Thank you. And thanks for the heads up on rock auto. I don’t have much experience with carquest because I use my bosses huge discount at Napa but have bought a couple lifetime warranty alternators from oriellys because I was sick of changing junk Napa ones out. Also had a brand new starter on a 7.3 go up in flames on first start so I keep the terminals hand tight when I change starters now so I can pull them off quickly. Luckily had a fire extinguisher and they gave me a new one when I brought it back.
@@WreckingBall541 I figured it’s just because it’s remand But the first one the gave me not even sure what it was for other then bolted to the left side of a motor

Yeah I put the 6.4 starter on mine and I’m very pleased with it, been doing great for over a month now

Nice video. About to put in my new 6.4 this morning after removing the old 6.0 one a few days ago.
Thanks! I was looking for info about it working with the manual transmission. Luckily for me, you also have a 6-speed.
No problem. I’m stoked this was informative for you and Still pretty glad I went with the 6.4 instead of stock or messing with the 6.7 swap
dude i been starting my truck with the ignition switch too. haha ignition actuator rod broke i have the part....just ya..
Yeah I’ve gotten a few weird looks at coffee drive ups 🤣
Most stylish rig of all time! You mind sending me the name of your headache rack?
It’s a pro tech
Got me a Napa remain. For my 6.4 now it turns over like a slug fucking junk and it took them two try’s to even get one that fit
I wonder if the guys getting the 6.4 starters screwed you by turning there 6 liter ones in for cores? Sorry about that

Ahh had to watch it again and see the 6.4 is as well. I was thinking of the 7.3 upgrade..
So I’m guessing if I do the wire trick you did here and it doesn’t start then the starter is shot?
Yup. A good way to test ignition
@@WreckingBall541 ok thank you
I did this swap and now my injectors don’t click when I’m warming up my glow plugs, any idea?
Your injectors were clicking? That’s not supposed to happen… the clicking you should hear is your glow plugs and the relay firing
