His Owner, most likely had died, and someone let the dog go. It happens more frequently than we realize. That sweet dog, he loved someone very much, as he was loved by them.

Such a handsome boy, it kills me to see dogs that are let go to this point. Although I have lived in Houston for several years now I had no idea how bad the stray dog situation was until a year or two ago. A huge part of the issue is that people here don't tend to get their dogs fixed as much. And with the lack of a harsh winter the dogs just keep multiplying, hopefully we will be able to solve this problem in the coming years. Until then keep up the amazing work you guys do!

burst into tears when he turned an wagged an let his head rest in her hand, poor thing. my girl Elvira is a Shep/malousni mix {think military dog} she had separation anxiety an food aggression {supposedly} she was refused by breed specific rescues in my area. after loosing 3 out of 4 dogs to various things {all natural, one was old age, another a heart condition aggravated by age, and the other was MPS who lived to 2yrs} I knew my husband needed a replacement therapy dog {the one that passed just of age was his service dog} I got online for my local shelter an found my girl. I walked into the pound and told the people I was there for Alley {her name at the time} we sat an spoke about what id have to overcome with her an I spoke to her about her new daddy and what shed be doing, the great big bed shed sleep on, and her little albeit older sister. bought an paid for her new daddy an I went to get her from the vet {the pound brings them to the vet to insure they get fixed} got home an she immediately crawled into his lap to sleep. not once have I seen food aggression, an only once in awhile does the anxiety hits her. ive had her about 4mnths now an shes one of the sweetest things. I think what was preventing others from taking her was her labels... they personality test a day or 2 after they get them an most time the animal is still in "must guard my food, I don't know when ill eat again" mode, which I think is unfair to them.

All you do for these beautiful animals always makes me cry. (It's a happy cry) The love and compassion you give these beauties show in their faces almost immediately. I'm so gtateful for people like you. he is a handsom boy, and appears very gentle and loving. I love the name he was given.😉. when he was in the seat of the car with you, he leaned his head against you and closed his eyes.....my heart just melted. thank you for caring enough to get involved. I pray there were more like you.💞🐕💞
Thank You so much for helping that boy. I know how contagious mange can be and humans can catch it. I want to do rescues but I have so many animals I've already rescued that I feel I can't afford it and or take the chance of them catching something. I applaud you!!

reminds me of the hell my little guy went through when he had mange. listening to him scratch and chew him self at night would just send me into tears. I am on disability but some how i found all the money to pay the very expen$ive vet bills for him and got him better.

Try making colloidal silver to help the skin. I make it and have helped outdoor cats. It works. You can order the kit online for reasonable cost. I'm thankful you found him in time. Poor baby boy.
I could be wrong but I think he's a danish Shepard. I've had a good deal of experience with them and even neckid he looks full danish. They are a damn fine breed. They cost around 1500 and i will bet he's stolen.
I got a dog that looks as bad as that dog from a friend mom and I’m still trying to get him back in shape I’ve had him 1 year now he dose look a lot better but still need more work

When people want a new Puppy they drop the older dog off on a farm thinking the farmer will take care of the dog.! Surprise farmer calls the dog catcher & the pound takes them & puts them down if no one adapts them.!
Robert lehny , the reason to know that is a Dutch Shepherd , is there is a difference , I'm glad he has been taken off the streets , I advocate for this breed , and much of this and Belgian Malinoise , will know how to be educated with them , German Shepherds for the most part have and are great between work and home and has done much to save the world , Dutch's and Malinoise , well , many would believe they are on crack and if not educated with the family's in their lives , by someone who knows who and what they are , greater chance they may try to and take over any reputation any pitbulls ever had , not saying they are bad dogs nor owners , sadly I've seen wonderful family's tried having Malinoise , it was not to the dogs advance , many have been returned to shelters and put down listed as aggresive Shepherd mixes , many dogs are like them in sertin Aria's , and Many just just generalise them as ordinary dogs , that's not all hundred percent , they are dogs but with a sertin gift that's hard to explain , that's the reason it's good to know that is a Dutch Shepherd , and to know a Malinoise when you see one , mine is a Malinoise/ German , has always and still is my best best buddy

The pine needles may not have been digested but I know pine needle tea is medicinal. So they may have been helping him a little.
