True facts!
I love the sloth drawing at the the end there! I personally don’t understand why no one has yet made a tin that is the size of the 12 but holds 24. Most of the redesigns of the tradition tin either take up more space and hold fewer paints (I see you qor), are plastic (do better Daniel Smith) or worse both! It is physically possible to fit 24 in your average tin of 12, it’s just a matter of a simple redesign of the tray that holds the paints. Sorry. That’s just one of my pet peeves. Same amount of mixing area, more paints, and less mess. Yes I can’t wait for the full review. But trust me I know there are only so many hours in the day.

I purchased a 24 set of Holbein from Wet Paint just a few weeks ago. Will swatch and test run them when the weather turns and I cannot play out of doors in my garden. Give me time to see you swatch and work with them first. Thank you for your work on these videos. Very much appreciated and looked forward to.

I love freshly poured paint. Over 2 weeks for drying time is slightly crazy!
A teeeeeensie bit, yes. I could be partly to blame because I normally leave palettes fully open when I let them dry, but I’ve had this one cracked (but not fully closed) for most of it. The tin is so big I don’t have anywhere that I can safely leave it fully opened!
I have the second largest set and I put them in a prismacolor tin I love them all and can't choose.

Just like tasting paste in school, won't hurt you but necessarily good for you either. Just one lick won't hurt you, try a color. Opera is the best.
And that is why I've never owned scented markers ...

I have this box and love it. It is a very reasonable copy of the european made heavyweight boxes. I have two similar smaller one from Europe and this one compares well, with one exception and that is the rod that attaches the lid, this could slip out. It is nice to use and you get used to the different system quite easily, the clip-in palettes can be prone to the pan holders rusting, but theoretically at least thins one could to in any place it lost its enamel. Your miyazaki's look lovely, and enticing, but as my family member said the other day, theres so much paint in this house that if it flooded from the inside what went out would be a rainbow! Enjoy your new palette, box and colours, have some fun with them.
Ah, thanks for your I put on the box! Still haven’t gotten a chance to mix on it yet, and being a fan of Meeden stuff in general, I’m used to allowing for minor issues, like hinge pins being weird or whatever.
And yeah, I’m going to die buried under a pile of paints, too! =>.
Meow Meow Kapow, just remembered, I read somewhere that white nights empty pans would fit in the middle, but haven't tried it myself.
can you keep an update going on how long before they dried out , reacting to re wetting etc.?

When the paints dry to they flatten out to be super satisfying full tins or do they stay like ice cream bloops?
It depends on if I smack the palette like a pan of brownies, and also if they’re a thin consistency. I didn’t brownie smack, so these are eternally ice cream bloops. Some brands even out on their own, but this is not one of them.
How much does it cost in Japan?
Ooh. New watercolours and studio ghibli. A new love and old love together, what could be more perfect? I’ve been considering purchasing a set of Holbein and have also a bit of a hankering for the ghilbli set. Was the price similar to the ones available at Jacksons or amazon? If any of my friends decide to visit Japan, I’m gonna ask them if they would get me a set so it would be good if I’m able to provide the cost up front (with, of course, a little extra for their trouble. Lol).

Maybe? It seems wide enough that you could have some on their sides but I don’t know where mine are right now so can’t check.
OMG Soooo satisfying to watch! I don't know why, but watching you squeeze out those perfect little spiral blobs is just so so so delicious. And the best part is...I don't have to worry about getting paint in weird places. Or hearing the words: Why is your left nostril purple?

I think the holbein colors look alike when they fresh out of the tube and not almost black when high pigmented because the most holbein colors are 2 or more pigments per color... hmm i think there are 9 or 12 single pigment colors in the whole hwc series🤔 not sure im right but maybe😁😅... oh and i think they are not deied after 2 qeeks cause of the pallete... have the same just from schminke and that pallet is almoßt closed up like no air can enter or go

@@MeowMeowKapow 😅... the only other pallete i know whos almost airtight is from the mijello... i had forgotten i used it with liquid watercolors and tossed it in my bag than a few mkns later i remembered and took it out again... nothing was wet in the bag!😁... but in the palette it was all mixed up😏😅

Not sure if the formulation has changed over time or if the US and Japan paints have different formulation... but my experience for Holbein wc paints is that they won’t really dry. So they don’t really achieve drying like in pan paints but instead stay slight tacky and wet like those wc paints with honey in them. I’ve even keep ppl post about Holbein paints that stay “wet” even years down the line of not using them!
Leave the palette open and they should dry fast

I think the paints took so long to dry because you kept the case closed. When I forget to leave it open, mine ALWAYS take forever to dry, no matter which brand. Your palette also has the mixing flap, so even less air will get in or out.
I kept it propped open when drying, though not fully exposed because wet paint is like a magnet for Bubba hair. =>.
Meow Meow Kapow I sometimes put mine inside the gas oven which has a pilot light and thus stays a bit warm all the time. Freshly poured paint dries in there very fast indeed.

If I were you, I would contact Holbein and complain about that palette not having enough wells. An $80 set shouldn't have mistakes like that . I'll bet it's already been dealt with in subsequent production runs but that doesn't necessarily mean they won't do anything for you. If you call, they'll probably send you the revised palette and some samples. Free merch? That alone would be worth the trouble for me. I, however, go for broke when I have to call a company over things like this. So if you wanna be a Boss-Ass Bitch about it, lobby for them to send you a complete replacement. Let them know about your TH-cam channel and the vids featuring their product. Chances are they'd go ahead and send you another one. You could use the extra set as a giveaway. Or perhaps as a thank you gift to the person who gave you the idea...hint hint. 😉😉😉
Nah, this is absolutely not a fight worth having. I wasn’t expecting there to be a palette in the set, but the cost of the paints alone is already less expensive in the set than it would be to get otherwise. So it’s like I got those paints at a discount plus a bunch of bonus stuff for free?!? It’s awesome! According to the booklet, the mixing wells are where it’s recommended to put some of the extra colors, and I understand the logic behind it but it’s just not a way I’d prefer to work. I am perfectly happy with what was provided in the kit. Plus, it wasn’t provided by holbein; this is a set that was curated by the ghibli museum itself and just happens to include holbein as the paint brand of choice but they are not responsible for the kit overall.
