We have to remember it’s the product buildup that can contribute to hydration not penetrating the hair. That’s why cleansing regularly is recommended. It’s not the oils per se that’s an issue. But if you’re into heavy petroleum products or gels you could be creating an occlusive barrier. Just make sure you clarify both you hair and scalp so water can be absorbed , then seal.
