Don't agree with what the officer did at all (I think the cop in this case was power hungry), but I don't think even with a lawyer, he'd win a case. Technically speaking, yes he was blocking/impeding traffic which is illegal (you can't stand out in the middle of a street/road). And he didn't comply with a lawful order to move off the roadway. So, he "failed to comply with a lawful order" which is an arrestable offense. So yeah, spending money on a lawyer would be a waste of time and money.
