Brilliant, thank you. Lived in Bristol for 12 years and, didn't have a clue about Abbots Pond. Got to this video quite by accident as youtube had deleted my subsciption to your channel, however, re subbed.
It was a lovely place! When I arrived I was thinking to myself, "its so small, how can there be any big fish in there?" but I guess sometimes big pike come in small ponds 🤔 There's rumour of a 20lb+ pike in there somewhere. I know where I will be heading this winter for sure to find out! Also, a friend of mine went fishing there about 3 weeks ago for silver fish on worm, and hooked something monstrous that broke him up. A big carp? Big tench? Or a pike? It's a mysterious place for sure!
Really lovely. Looking forward to fishing it in the Summer, though I expect it may be a little less peaceful with more people about and swimming in the water (when they aren't allowed)
Its the mystery of the depths that keeps us coming back! I hear that a 20lb Pike still lurks in Abbots Pool. And the water isn't that big! If the tales are true, it's got to be caught some time, right? But either way, the photography is great. I'm a keen wildlife photographer myself!
I live near Abbots Pool, it really is beautiful! I've weirdly not tried fishing it yet. Have you tried it for the tench and 'wild' carp that are meant to dwell there?
I've no idea. I've been investigating it. Apparently a while back there was a fish kill and many fish here were lost. But the Pike and silver fish population are recovered and going very strong, so im willing to bet a few wild carp still lurk in this pools depths. I plan on going back soon to investigate further, with a fishing rod in hand that is, naturally! If I see anything, or catch anything, you better believe there will be a video about it on here!
@@ThePassionatePiscator hi! Where did you find out about the fish kill? I’d like to know how that happened and what damage it did. I hope there are some tench and carp left!
@@ghopkins1974 This is only reports from a few local people and other fishermen that I have heard. A couple of dog walkers on the day of filming this also informed me of this happening in the past actually. I couldn't tell you when this apparently happened though. It could be true or just a good rumour 🤷♂️ However, as an update: a friend of mine was recently fishing here, float fishing maggot, and hooked into something very big which he lost and never saw. So something big certainly still lurks there that likes a couple maggots.
Just one word GREAT
Thank you so much 😊👍🎣
Brilliant video

@@ThePassionatePiscator you get a lot of kids swimming in the summer so fishing is a no go until sun down
I love abbots pool I usually catch great photos rather than fish when I’m there but I still keep trying

@@ThePassionatePiscator I pulled 16.5lb pike out last year and a 13lb this week single hook and half fish had the most results

Hard to find? The carpark is about 50m down a path 😂
Haha, so I found after I had done for the day 😅
I came at it entirely from the wrong direction 🤦♂️
@@ThePassionatePiscatorat least you know for next time 😂
When was the last time a carp was caught here?

@@ThePassionatePiscator Thanks for the update. Ooh - that sounds like a very intriguing hook up! I’ll head down with some strong tackle.
