      MrSugrue thanks mate, it was a beast ;) the club ticket is keynsham aa and it allows you to fish the avon from jack whites (bellow the old chocolate factory) upstream to swineford. you can also fish the river chew. at £22 for a year, it's a bargain!

      @@jakewilliamson I have a almagmated ticket and apprantlley I can fish jack whites is it close to where you are in these videos? I normally go swine Ford

    • @jakewilliamson

      @@chrisbray9938 jack whites is the stretch below the lock at keynsham heading downstream. that stretch is tidal and the water levels and flow can vary massively so it's defo worth checking the flood sites to get an idea of the depth. the banks are also crazy steep! i tried fishing it a couple of times but it's pretty lethal in winter... but i have heard of sizable fish being caught on that stretch. let me know if you give it a go, good luck 👍

    where have you caught the chub in your past videos? jack whites?

    • @jakewilliamson
      @jakewilliamson  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      hi bradley, most of those vids were shot down at the swineford end of the avon. i've not really fished the jack whites stretch (in front of the old cadbury factory?) as the banks are pretty inacessable but i plan to give them a go this spring. from what i hear, that stretch is a bit more tidal in it's depths in that varies during the course of a day.
      the winter chub are still coming out at swineford! if you're on facebook, do a search for swineford to see some pics.

    nice mate! still awaiting my first river 20. I've had one on a lake but its just not the same!

      thanks edd! biggest i've had from a lake is only around 6lb, many years ago at a place called pixies mere (it looks like the pike have since been removed...). but i can only imagine they still go like the clappers in a lake too?!

    Another nice vid and cracking fish. I wondered how long it would take before seeing comments like the ones on this one. Every vloggers dilemma. Perhaps worth changing the tags and description, but on the other hand you'll never stop people fishing on croc corner.

    • @jakewilliamson
      @jakewilliamson  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      croc corner - too good! thanks for the comment, appreciate it. and yup, a vloggers dilemma - to upload or not, to tag or not, to go fishing or not... the list goes on. my take on it was that the river was busy with anglers and has been busy with anglers for decades and the fish get no more or less pressure due to me posting a video on youtube... and these days it doesn't matter what you do, it'll make some people happy and annoy others!

    You know the pike have to deal with cormorants and otters on this stretch ,the issue with vlogging your sessions is they now have to deal with crazy angling pressure too as every numptie and div who doesn't care for the fish like you do have every bit of info they need to festoon the place with broken off gear . I am not having a dig its just an observation , i went down there to fish and two separate guys said they were there because they watched your vids .

    Quality fish from the BA - congratulations! I know exactly where it lives and how to catch it now! No offence intended but such fish are very precious and the standard of pike handling on the river is pretty atrocious with traces left in fish pike being taken for the pot or looking like they've been on the rugby pitch etc... Excellent handling by your good self though great to see, what a fish!

    • @jakewilliamson
      @jakewilliamson  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thanks! it was a real privilege to get this one in the net. give the avon a go, it's got some real specimens!
      i hear you on the bad handling of fish, i've had a couple out now with traces in their mouths or damage caused by bad handling. river piking is a challenge: long walks, steep banks, muddy conditions, snags and on top of that the stretches of water are largely unpoliced and unchecked (i've been asked to show my keynsham aa licence once but never had a ea licence check). but that's no excuse for not having the right gear for the job. i regularly see people out with undersized landing nets, no unhooking mat and nothing but a pair of pliers for unhooking...
      having said that though, i've seen far more anglers out this winter fishing for pike with all the right gear and that is encouraging. fingers crossed the pike in this video will have a good long life and who know's, the next time it comes out it might be a 30!

    Great videos Jake. But maybe you could try and not show your location. Pike are very fragile fish and i can guess people are watching your videos and going straight to your swim. That 22lb might on a dinner table now.
    That pike probably took 8 years to get to that size.
    Just saying thats all.
