Struggling with a lyric in this song since I’ll be singing it in church. “That you would bear my cross.” Jesus says in Matthew 16:24 “If anyone come after me, let him pick up his cross and follow me.” God does not carry our cross for us. We carry it for Christ. God just gives us the strength. We have a lot of work to do and we aren’t supposed to spend it on good vibes, but to preach the gospel to the lost and to feed God’s sheep.
I think the statement is more about Christ paying the penalty we all deserve. We deserve the cross. He became a curse for us.

As a Christian that's been journey with ups and down I'm not sure this relatable to u or not:Me and my family left a church but then joined a church the older the church we were was broken so God moved us to new one I've battled doubt and even let the world get to me I would tell u this God will do anything to come back to you and I've experienced it firsthand dude has your back he provides and promises he answered a prayer of mine and He delivers! I pray that you would one day go back to Christ and have a good Christian family of friends.
Christianity has nothing to do with going to Church and everything to do with a relationship with the Holy Spirit. If you have ever encountered the Holy Spirit, you would not want to leave Christianity for any reason ever, if you have left the faith, you have never TRULY met God, I pray that He will reveal himself to you in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray He would show you that He loves you and will never leave you nor forsake you. I pray you will build relationship with HIM and not with your Pastor/Reverend etc... People hurt people, badly... but these are people hurting people...
