when i first saw this i teared up becuse it was so awsome i am hard of hearing and learning to sign so for me it was an amazing thing to see glee imbracing the deaf and showing even though they can't hear they can still be part of choir

No offense, but exactly how was this ableist?
The amount of ableism in this is disgusting. So horrified. Anyone who thinks this is inspiring needs to brush up on their Deaf culture and learn what is and isn’t appropriate.
I'm taking an ASL course right now and my professor stresses the importance of learning about Deaf culture and how not to offend those within the Deaf community. Watching this, I genuinely thought it was inspiring to see glee incorporate the idea that just because they're Deaf, doesn't mean they can't be in a choir. I also thought it was cool that the main cast joined them with melody and tried to follow along with signs. I'm curious about how you think this is "disgusting" and inappropriate. I'm not trying to be rude, I just genuinely want to know how you're looking at this.
