Info: "secret MAIKO lips" comes from the original song "secrete MY lips". For this song, the band changed the original lyrics to the Kyoto (Kansai) dialect. As you may know, Kyoto was the Capitol of Japan for over a thousand years before it was moved to Tokyo. And Kyoto has an area called Gion-Cho where many of the tea houses and restaurants are located where the Geishas work at and also live. (Miku loves Kyoto). This MV was released on the April 1st of 2018 as an April Fool's joke. (Yeah, a whole MV for a fool's day joke) The band changed all their names on their social media and official web sites to Band Maiko and announced that they were going to be Band Maiko then on. They even changed each members names: Miku to Hatoko, Saiki to Fujiki, Akane to Akatsuki, Kanami to Kanoemi and MISA to Umemisa. Needless to say, the fans were totally shocked. Then, they announced next day it was a big joke. But, fans liked it so much they did it again in 2019 and released "Gion-Cho" a brand new EP song with a whole album that included six other songs which included "Secret MAIKO lips". They could not do one in 2020 due to the pandemic.
Bonus: It was Akane (not Kanami) who was slurping noodles. It's an inside joke (She is always eating or has food in her hands in several of their MV's; she has a huge appetite - as she is a drummer).

Thanks for another awesome video! Secret maiko lips is prob their best video imo. It's just absolutely beautiful. They all look amazing, the visuals are just stunning and the ladies look amazing. Wonderland is also my favorite BAND-MAID song. Saiki just absolutely kills it in that video and I really feel like Kanami had some Santana vibes which was awesome.
So much talent - what are the chances? Everyone at the top of her game and Kinami exceptional in her playing and song writing; she is the heart of Band Maid. It shows the benefits of classical training and the Japanese work ethic. A brilliant group of brilliant musicians with great charm, a sense of humour and massive stage presence Cotrast that with the BBC musician of the year who is, of course a rapper with the obligatory history of violence, police trouble, hoody and attitude.
Wonderland, in my opinion is one of their best arranged songs so far. Musically and vocally.
Saiki's voice is legit here. MISA's bass sounds like kicks in the chest. Kanami flowing and flying.
Akane and those drums' sticks ability... Even Miku is doing some arrangements, ha!

Incredible. Simply incredible. I am amazed. As I have stated before I am not even a fan of this type of music but I really like this band! Every thing I have heard them play I enjoy. Who produces their videos? They are first rate as well.

I love watching Kanami trying to do her usual thrashing around, and not step on her kimono. The string instrument that MISA is playing is called a shimasen, For fun, Young Guitar has a YT channel with a couple of vids of Kanami demoing PRS guitars and Morley wah wah pedals.

Yeah that song was an april´s fool, what an effort just to trick their fans, i mean who is doing such things? No one else... And they all showed a little bit of their characters. Saiki as a "leader" of them, Akane is eating (she really eats FAST and A LOT) etc., it´s really nice and well produced. You have to love these ladies, there is no other option!
BandMaid can do anything and also look good doing it - even MISA "ooooooohhhhhhaaaa"
Wonderland has become one of my absolute fav's. I guess in part because I know the scope of BAND-MAID, as I wouldn't start someone with it new to band. Still digging through your reactions to get you likes, but also seem some guys with similar backgrounds (musically) give feedback. get a chance, go watch the Juila Nilon breakdown on Saiki's vocals. Its really cool to get a pro voice singing and performance trainers POV and she really is great. Lastly here, Im still not sure it was all a mix issue, as much as they heavy reverb on the guitar last one you did.

Wonderland sounds a complex song and for me it is a good demonstration of Band Maids musicianship. If Saik,i was male, he obviously wore the too tight underpants to sing the high notes :-) Saiki, normally sings in a lower register with Miku, providing the upper register harmony. Others have explained about Band Maiko. A Maiko, is a trainee Geisha. You have reacted to the Wagakki Band, before and you may remember they combine traditional Japanese instruments into rock/pop songs. Try this song Akatsukino Ito. They were asked if they would play a concert as Band Maiko. They said the costumes were very restrictive for movement and very hot, so no.

I have to agree with you guys about the sound in this concert. While Band Maid is always awesome, I enjoyed the Zepp Tokyo show more also. The pandemic has been blamed for Band Maiko's failure to return in April, 2020, but maybe next year?

Secret My Lips is a problematic translation from Kan-ji. It is better translated as give me a reason to remain silent or why should l keep my mouth shut. The best source for all Band-Maid lyrics is Band-Maid Café on the web. I talked with a guy yesterday who thought you might get a word for word translation so he might sing along. I had to tell him while that works for Western languages it does not for oriental languages. If you go symbol for word you get awkward translations but they will still fit the meter of the poetry. More accurate translation will give better meaning but the translation is now an explanation that no longer fits into the structure of the song. If you haven't already done so get a copy of the words for Gion-cho, the only song written by Band-Maid exclusively for Band-Maiko. That song is filled from one end to the other in sexual innuendo and double meanings. Very adult subject matter. Red lights in Gion-cho, the adult entertainment district of Kyoto, mean the exact same thing there as they do around the world. And when Miku invites you into the tatami room she is not asking you if you would like to take a nap. Likewise the reference to cherry blossoms being in season. That has zero to do with a fruit that grows on trees in the land of the rising sun. We use that word very similarly here in the states when you talk about something that is still in great shape like a cherry 65 Mustang or a virginal young woman. There is so much more to Band-Maid than meets the eye of a casual western listener. Sacramento loves Band-Maid.
